Our hotel was perfectly situated for us on the Promenade de Etats Unis, an easy walk to the old town, the harbor, rue de France, and Castle Hill. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless. It even offered a discount on chaises and umbrellas at the private beach across the street. Coffee and tea supplies were replenished every day. The combination tub and shower was not large,but was sufficient and the bathroom as a whole was clean, functional, and attractive.

Great location, on the water, near Old Nice and close to Castle Hill. Also walking distance to numerous restaurants in Old Nice.
Also one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever had--supe clean and plenty of room for all my stuff.

Great Location. Average room is small and poorly decorated. Decor in general is awful. Has become a beach hang out.
Roof top restaurant is very good. Personnel are all very cooperative and friendly.

We booked and requested a king bed. Our first room was two single beds. When we asked to change they had no rooms available the first night. When our room was changed it still had two single beds but were made up for a double. The hallway to our room on level 4 had a terrible smell that made you sick everytime you walked past.
To use the pool or the beach there was an extra charge and the gym was very average.

Great location. Inexpensive lounge. Staff was extremely helpful, no matter what we asked. Nice tanning deck on the roof. I would recommend it to others. It's only about 6 to 7 blocks from the beach.

Room was decent sized, especially for the money. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was very quite, even though the hotel was booked, we never heard another guest from our room. We also really liked the location, Nice is very walkable and the hotel was in between most of the things we wanted to walk to.

This hotel is fantastic. It is located within the same building as the LeMeridien but a lot less cost. Whilst not making a direct comparison between a 3 star and 5 star, the Mercure held its own well and truly.
Our ocean view room was fantastic and the staff were all just wonderful.
The location is right on the Promenade Des Anglais - you can't ask for better.
Would heartily recommend it!

First of all, it can never be a four star hotel even if the building from outside looks nice. I had many problems:- internet doesn't work well especially in the evenings. - TV has 4-5 channels unless you pay money to get more- no iron machine and they can iron the stuff for you but with a very very expensive price. They can lend you one but it never came, and the guy in the reception told me in the phone:'' We don't have an iron machine to lend'' I said but yesterday another woman told me that you can lend one, then he said'' I will give you one this time but this is the lasttime'' Then they never brought it saying that other people took all of the iron machine they have. - I found a small insect in the bed in the first day- The room is not like the one in the photo at all. It has one window that looks at another small building infront of the hotel. No view at all- They have only two elevators and you will you can sleep before you got one. Awful- No fitness center therePlease let me know why I paid that much money, and let me know why it is ranked as a 4 star hotel. [...]

Very good hotel for the value. One negative comment is related to a girl in the reception area. I can't recall her exact name but it starts with the S. She was rude to me every time I asked her a question. I also noticed that she was rude to other guest in the hotel.

As a single traveler I wanted a safe modern hotel in a prime location. This felt more like what you would get for an American hotel for the money than a similarly priced European hotel. Would definitely stay here again. The bathroom was pretty small but this wasn't a problem for me since I'm small.

Funky decor, but good hotel.

I went on business, for a conference at the hotel. Good location, overlooking the sea. very friendly staff. clean hotel - with one exception: a roach crawling in my room (yuck)!! The bathroom is large, and the minibar was fully stocked but was missing traditional sodas like coke/pepsi etc. The Orangina was refreshing though. The room was spacious, but as you can see from the photos online, was furnished with antique type amenities. Thankfully I did not get the "butterfly" room! It was my first stay in Nice so I have nothing to compare it too - but all in all, if the price is not a detractor, I would recommend this hotel.

If you are on a short business trip and just need a room this facility might be adequate (but free wi-fi kicks off about every 15 minutes, requiring re-logging in each time and automatic reroutes to wi-fi advertisers page, interrupting and causing you to lose your work). As tourists it is a 12 to 20 euro cab ride to trains, shopping or restaurants. Even a simple restaurant is a 15 minute walk. The "city view" suite looks out over traffic and a bus stop.
Mattress was thin and lumpy. Room was decent size, but cheaply furnished. That said, the kitchenette was clean and appreciated.
The laundry facility is grungy and dryer not working.
The staff was at least somewhat accommodating in an "I just work here" sort of way. I think this hotel is a bit overpriced. There are many hotels in better locations. Recommend staying more towards Vieux Nice.

Shower is smaller than an assistant's desk area (1.5m x 1.5m no kidding). Not a place to stay long term, but hey, it's very good priced. Maybe choose this hotel and spend most of the day by train to Eze, Monaco, St Paul village etc, come back to shower and sleep only. Staff are friendly.

The only warning I would give to potential visitors: if you are not comfortable with those you are traveling with...DO NOT STAY HERE! No privacy between room/bathroom/shower. Otherwise, loved it!

excellent hotel, staff friendly & helpful, service excellent and hotel very clean. Buffet breakfast very good with a wide menu to choose from. I would highly recomend this hotel.
We stayed in a room with a sea view at the front of the hotel, the room was lovely but a lot of traffic noise, had to keep window closed at night and use air conditioning.

Ideally situated between the famous Promenade des Anglais and at the beginning of the pedestrian street, Hotel de La Fontaine is also at only 10 minutes walking from the train station to visit Cannes or Monaco, and 10 minutes driving from the International Airport.

This is a very nice hotel. The room was small but appropriate size for 2 adults. I was interested in the hotel because of the beautiful pool deck, but the pool was closed in the pre-season. I think this would be a perfect hotel for those who wanted the beach 24/7, but we traveled pre-season and staying in Nice would have been better for us.

We were upgraded to the ambassador suite and the room was very large (two large rooms) with a nice kitchenette. It's four blocks from the beach and the associated beach (Sporting: 15€/day) was lovely. Our room was on the 6th floor, where the restaurant is and it was quite noisy at night with a loud oboist until 10 or 11pm. Closing the doors didn't help much. We tried to switch rooms and the helpful staff tried, but was overruled by the boss. We didn't try the restaurant at all.
The garage is borderline useless. If you have a large car, it's far too narrow to use comfortably. We tried parking and then gave up and returned the car; they took the charge off the bill. If you have a small car, it's probably fine.

Was fully booked online initially but the call to [...]helped us get the rooms. Everything is close. The room was small compared to American standards but perfectly fine (just like their cars) along with perfect-cold air-conditioning. The most famous hotel in Nice-Le Negresco is just two buildings away on the same street and the sea is across the Promenade. Some rooms only face the back of the hotel, e.g. the mountains/city - make sure you know what room you're getting if you want the sea view (we didn't but still got the side rooms with some view of the sea). This is one of the 8-9-10 top places where you want to stay in Nice, if you can afford it; it's really worth the money and I am not rich...

Booked the Romantic Package for my wife's 50th - the hotel arranged a charming room, champagne on arrival and rose petals around the room. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful (the doorman knows all the best that Nice has to offer). Breakfast facilities were a little cramped but all fresh and plenty of it. We will, without a doubt stay here again.

Le prix est un peux elevée si on veux faire plusieurs jours de séjour. L'emplacement de l'hôtel est situer comme place des anglais hors il est dans une petite rue qui se croise avec cette rue. Un peux dificile de le trouver si en roule tous le temps sur la place des anglais!!

Situated in the heart of Nice in the pedestrian area and only two steps from the beach the "Hotel de Suede" welcomes you with its new facade in the typical colors of Nice and its entirely refitted and re-decorated rooms in winter 2010/2011.All the rooms are equipped with bath or shower, WC, air condition, direct dial telephone, safety box, satellite television channels. New in the rooms: TV flat screen, WiFi access, hair dryer, very good isolation by double glazing windows. The Hotel de Suede, formerly Hotel Harvey, offers now a superior three star accommodation and remains open the whole year. A well-appointed hotel with a very friendly atmosphere. The staff are unobtrusive but always there when you need them. The hotel layout is unique, being built into the face of the Chateau Hill, which means that there are two separate lifts to get to the upper floors. Some reviewers found this odd but it was simply the best way to deal with such a unique construction. It is an oasis of quiet calm but the lively attractions of Nice are right on the doorstep. Definitely one of the better hotels I have stayed in and well worth its 4-star rating. Go and enjoy.

La Perouse has a great location overlooking the entire Promenade des Anglais and Baie des Anges. Its provencal design oozes character, style and understated elegance. The restaurant food is excellent, but the breakfast lacks variety and imagination. The staff are very polite and helpful at all times.

I thought I booked a hotel, but it's a hostel, with bunk-beds, and multiple people per room... But being open-minded and under 30, it was a lot of fun. It's got a cool crowd, relatively clean, in a really nice area of nice, close to place massena.
