Quito Hotels

The hotel is located nicely in the Old Town section of Quito. There is good access to local sights. Hotel Botique Plaza Sucre is good value to your hotel dollar.

Good location, has good security, close to historic sites----good value.

The hotel looks kind of old and run down, the rooms aren't great and in my case the curtains didn't darken the room enough. I woke up because there was so much sun coming into the room. The elevator doesn't stop on each floor so you have to overshoot and then walk down the stairs. The breakfast buffet included on the rate was small and bland. TV offers a few channels, mostly local and basic cable, there's not even CNN, tough they have CNN en español. The hotel is on a busy an not too nice road. The employees were nice and friendly. The room service was tasty at a reasonable price. After 2 days I moved to a nicer hotel that was just a little more expensive.

We simply slept there because we had to get up at 3 a.m. for an early morning flight. The room was quiet and we slept well. The wakeup call was on time and so was the taxi the hotel called for us. Because we had to leave before breakfast, the hotel packed sandwiches, fruit and fruit juice drinks for us. In addition the desk clerk helped us use the hotel computer to get online and print out our boarding passes.

The Eugenia is a nice place to stay if you want something close to the airport which is comfortable and affordable. Many restaurants are within a few minutes walk of the hotel, the staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel's decor feels more like a home than an impersonal, cookie cutter type accommodation.

It is quite an impressive hotel, you walk in and bask in the beauty of the Victorian style hotel. The rooms are simple but nice and clean. It is relatively away from the centre of Quito, but if your Spanish is good and you know how to negotiate you can travel to most places in the city for 2-3 dollars from the hotel. Staff is friendly, most are familiar with English. The hotel seems to cater to American groups. The place is secured, goats are locked at night, door must be opened by staff. However, there are a few important things to consider when choosing the hotel. Don't make them responsible for your travel to the airport. They failed to get us transport from the airport and the transport for when we left was late and overpriced taxi service. Breakfast is basic but good, they have some good breads out and the best part of Ecuador is juices and they usually make some of the best orange juice you will ever drink. I found the bed to be comfortable, basic and simple room, nothing fancy. There seems to be an issue with the hot water as one day we have it, the other we don't and it takes a while for it warm up. There is wi-fi, but on the floor we were on, we didn't receive that strong of a signal. I felt it was slightly expensive, but Quito is an expensive place unless you want to stay in the noisy party districts. Nonetheless it is cheaper than some of the alternatives and it includes breakfast (a lot of hotels don't include breakfast in Ecuador in the nightly rate)

Trying not to compare it to hotels here in the states and base it soley on my experience in Ecuador, I give this hotel 3 stars. I was there for 2 days before flying to the coast. The room was great! My only complaint with the room was the hot water was very sensitive--we're talking centimeters of difference between scalding hot and cold (though I think this might have just been an issue w/ my room). The staff were great and bilingual which is a plus for guests that don't speak spanish. They had 2 computers to use w/ fast internet, 2 restaurants (I only visted the cheaper of the two). The food was par, not great, not bad...though it was a little pricey for Ecuadorian standards. It was right in the middle of the new town (Mariscal Sucre), which I've heard is getting more dangerous, though I personally had no problems. My flight was 3 hours late and I didn't get to the hotel until 2 in the morning and they were waiting on me. They had 2 or 3 guards at the doors at night. For a hotel under $100 in the middle of Quito it was overall a good experience. I would stay there again.

Stayed in Quito for a day layover in JW Marriot-after Machu Picchu and Galapagos Islands. Junior suite with adjoining room....great for a family. Beautiful pool, great restaurants. Spa-descent treatments and facial. Wonderful place to spend a day or two! CA USA

The staff was really helpful and well trained. The hotel was beautiful with sparkling clean beds and bathrooms. The food is excellent and the executive club is complete and the people there are helpful. Beautiful pools that are warm enough to swim all year. Location is terrific and the manager is like none other I have spoken with. Wonderful experience and worth the money.

The best thing about this hotel is that it is a quick trip to the airport in the wee hours of the morning. I have stayed here before, but this time I didn't get the room I signed up for and no discount either. I stayed there as a single woman on a Friday night. I asked for and paid for a room with two double beds so I could spread out. I got a very small room with one double bed. I know what the rooms are like because I have stayed there a couple of times before. THIS WAS NOT WHAT i PAID FOR. I have used room service before and thought is served it's purpose well. This time I went to the restaurant. Don't bother. There is better value and a better selection of reasonably priced food on the room service menu. This hotel is not charming but it is handy for a short night stay to catch a plane. I just expect to get what I pay for. AND dispite what they say, pick up from the airport doesn't happen. If you are heading back to the airport during the day, they do usually furnish a shuttle, but not late or early and not consistently.

Good Hotel, nice staff, well located, to noisy but still good

This is a clean, modern hotel in the heart of the New City region of Quito. The area is lively, upscale, and well-supplied with shops and restaurants. The hotel staff were friendly and spoke reasonable English. They were very helpful with bags, taxis, and restaurant recommendations. Some things in the room were not in good working order, but our main complaint was the noise. All the nightclubs in the area play loud music late into the night, and there is a constant din of car alarms, police sirens, and traffic noise. If you want lively night life and don't intend to go to bed before 2 am, this is the perfect place for you. Otherwise, you might want to look for something in a quieter area.

The hotel itself does not seem to be that centrally located to shopping, but it is in a quiet neighborhood. The room's furnishings were a little worn for what would be considered a four to five star hotel, but the employees' service more than makes up for it. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Very eager to serve. The doorman actually helped us book a full-day tour in a private car. We felt very safe and secure, considering we were two women in a foreign country. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that needs to travel to Quito.

This hotel provided me with a very comfortable stay after a late night arrival in Quito. I had made arrangements with the hotel directly over the phone before hand to be picked up from the airport. The staff were all very friendly and the accommodations are more than I expected. They even gave me a razor and shaving cream at no charge. The room service is fast, although the portions were small for the price.The shower was very nice, as was the gym. My only complaint is that this hotel is extremely expensive compared to others in Ecuador, but then again, it is luxury at its finest. If you have the money to splurge, seriously consider staying here.

The location was perfect right across the street from shopping mall and resturants. The front desk staff understood and could speak good english an were very helpful. The breakfast buffet was good with omlets and fruit for around $12.00 a person. The room was excelent very clean and the cleaning staff doesnt wake you up and are very good about letting you sleep in. Great Stay at Best Western Plaza hotel and casino would highly recomend for the price.

The hotel is very well located, clean and with enough amenities. We had a great overall experience.

The staff speaks pretty good English and were very willing to help with ideas and suggestions of places to see in Quito. After spending a night there we decided to to return to the hotel after some other traveling in Ecuador, and the staff advised us to make the additional reservation via the internet so that we could get a better deal, rather than taking our reservation in person and having to pay the regular price (which was almost double); we thought that was pretty nice of them!

Mercure Alameda is definetly an excellent alternative. Rooms are brand new with all expected comforts of a 4-star hotel. We booked a junior suite but upon arrival we got a full suite.For $90, taxes inc, is an incredible alternative.

This is a small interesting hotel well positioned if one is going to the airport. We spent only one night and had to leave for the airport at 4:00am so we didn't get to take full advantage. Our room was two levels, living area and bedroom with a balcony. Very clean and well equipped. Because of its location well north of Old Town it's not where I would choose for a long stay in Quito but it was fine for our purposes.

The staff was courteous and helpful (I arrived around 1 a.m.). The breakfast was more than I could eat. This hotel feels more like a large home than a hotel. It was quiet, hot water was reliable, and the intimate restaurant and dining room very pleasant with good food.

Very responsive service. Nice room and tapas lounge. Only downside was internet not very fast.

When I asked my 17 yr old daughter whether she wanted to stay at a tried-and-true Holiday Inn Express or this more Ecuadorian-flavoured hotel, she responded that the Sebastian sounded good. We were VERY satisfied!!!The front desk staff always served us with a smile and were attentive and helpful. They all spoke English (some better than others) and I tried to converse in my limited Spanish. No problems. The luggage porters spoke little English but by far made up for that with enthusiasm and helpfulness. Anytime we needed a taxi or a tour, this was quickly arranged. I recommend asking for [...] who are drivers for the hotel. [...] took us on a city tour ($10 per hr) and to Cotopaxi volcano ($70 round trip for 2 persons)and could speak English quite well.We stayed a total of 4 nights--broken up between visits to the Amazon and the Galapagos. Our room on the 7th floor was a bit `tired` but clean--noisy as it faced the main street. The rooms on the 6th (605) and the 5th (505) were nicer, had a little balcony and a better view--also quieter (it`s difficult to escape the sound of car alarms and sirens). They had a little table and chairs so you could eat room service meals or write a postcard. Bathrooms had a basket with a sewing kit, soap, shampoo and conditioner, shampoo cap--plus a toothbrush and paste was available upon request. The beds were comfortable and had warm comforters and blankets. The best part of The Sebastian, however, was the food in the restaurant. Free breakfast included in our room cost had made-to-order omelettes or scrambled eggs with fruit, cheese, breads and buns, juices, and lots of coffee con leche (meaning with hot milk)--yum. We ate at various times throughout the day/evening--no reservations--and the food was beyond great! I couldn't get over how every meal we had was so exceptional! We loved the potato soup with avacado, eggs, corn, and even leafs of lettuce. The pollo al gratin (chicken and cheese-covered toasted sandwich) still makes me drool to think of it. Desserts were yummy too. Serving staff were very professional. While sitting in the restaurant, we could people-watch through the large windows and see the daily comings-and-goings around the neighbourhood.While this hotel could not be graded as a five-star luxury hotel (like a Marriot etc) it makes up for that with personality, friendliness and service. Add to that, the huge bouquets of fresh roses and other flowers in the comfortable lobby, the accessibility of a business centre so we could print boarding passes, having our luggage tagged and stored (because we had weight limits for smaller planes and couldn't bring 2 large suitcases) while we went on tours for 4-5 days, I am pleased to recommend The Sebastian to anyone visiting Quito. We felt so at home here and plan to return.

The staff was fabulous. The bellmen and those at the front desk and some of the waitstaff spoke English, which helped me immensely. The bellman directed me to the artisanal market, a nice walk about 10 blocks away. The hotel location is excellent, and only three blocks from my daughter's Spanish school, Equinox. There are MANY restaurants close by. My room had a small balcony, which I really enjoyed. There's a lovely small park just across the street. Although bottled water is provided, I enjoyed the security of knowing the hotel has its own water filtration system, and the water there is some of the safest in the city.

The location of the hotel was wonderful - just a block off the main square in the old town. There are lots of restaurants nearby and it is safe to walk around. The hotel is beautiful and our room was lovely. The staff however was un-helpful; slow to help or offer assistance. The restaurant is fair, at best. [...]

The hotel was average- but, for the price, I wold expect more. The staff was extremely helpful though. I chose this hotel because Orbitz says it is close to the airport- This is a LIE! Its not anywhere near the airport.

I used to be able to afford staying at this hotel but it has exceeded my budget. I guess I won't be staying here anymore

Beautfiul Hotel right in the center of Quito's night life. Very safe area, lots of police presence. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Management needs to be replaced. Two out of 4 days, I had no hot water in the morning. My toilet ran all night long and heavier curtains could reduce the noise. Had to chase down some staff to get my roomn cleaned one day. With a little TLC this could be an outstanding hotel.
