Pretty and comfortable

The staff members helped figure out trips. Computer use was helpful. It was a very pretty hotel and courtyard. [...] We settled for 2 singles and after the first move because of noise, the bed was one queen. Then we moved again and in that room the air conditioner didn't work. Good location.I thought it was expensive

Be a local and a tourist.

  • The CA Guy
  • Mar 22, 2012
The room was very clean. The staff was nice as can be you have to remember they are Danes so they can seem cold but thats just the culture. The Mermaid is a nice walk through gorgeous town homes next to the water. Makes you think about buying a summer condo. If you cook and make a mess, leave it and have your room cleaned, yes they will do your dishes. The Otto is pricey but all the resturaunts in Copenhagen are pricey thats why you get a hotel with a kitchen so you dont eat out as much. The italian resturaunt across the walkway was cheap and tasty. There is a bakery a stones throw from the Netto on the corner with fresh pastries and breads for breakfast if you wanna grab something on the way. Take a walk down the street and over the bridge to get to the train, alot faster then the bus. and less stops. This is my 4th trip to Copenhagen and I have stayed at the best (Marriott) and not the best. This hotel gives the feel of a five star hotel with the comfort of being able to raid the fridge on those rainy windy Danish days. But doesnt break the bank. I saved so much money from buying my own groceries. So dont stay here... It was horrible...lol

Great hotel, inconvenient location

  • cede
  • Sep 30, 2011
Nice apartment. Accommodations were great with king bed, hair dryer, kitchenette with dishes, pot & pans, glassware and diswasher. Very clean. Although the desk clerk tried, we could not get ice from the restaurant that seemed to be part of the apartment complex. Turned out that it was not walking distance to the town sights nor the port from which we were leaving. Next time we would probably stay on Nyhaven or at least closer to it.

First Hotel Esplanaden is located at the end of Bredgade across from the verdant Churchill Park by the city's historic citadel, Kastellet. The hotel has 117 rooms, which are all appointed in a bright and airy Scandinavian style. As a resident guest you are only a few minutes walk from shopping streets and classic townhouse boutiques, restaurants and cafs. Hotel recommends walking through the citadel parkland, down to the waterside promenade or to Nyhavn Canal. Visitors to Copenhagen enjoy a wide range of offerings within the arts and culture, such as concerts, art galleries and major museums, including the Danish National Gallery and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. Tivoli Gardens is always worth a visit, whether admiring its flower gardens, indulging in funfair rides or simply enjoying a glass of wine by the Open-Air stage while listening to a Friday Rock concert. Copenhagen offers many inspiring attractions. A buzzing capital, the city also welcomes you to become part of its way of life. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in the newly refurbished breakfast restaurant. You can enjoy coffee and tea in the lobby where you can also access your emails from the guest computers.

Exactly what we wanted

  • GammelDanske
  • Aug 23, 2011
We were looking for an adequate hotel, nothing new, nothing expensive and nothing fancy. No pool, conference rooms, exercise rooms, etc. The location is excellent for starting a tour of Copenhagen...just across the street is a wonderful park, and Kastellet is genuinely worth strolling through. It's just a short walk to the mermaid statue, and if you just keep on walking west the sights get better. We walked to virtually all the sights in Copenhagen and felt it well within reason...even the Tivoli. The Hotel is quiet, clean, and the staff was particularly helpful. We were impressed with the view from our room. Probably the only negative thing worth noting is the elevator which probably needs an adjustment on the microswitches for stopping... the lurch is not an E ride...but it gets your attention. I suspect it will be addressed soon. All in all, I'd go back to this hotel.

Hotel Osterport Copenhagen Denmark

  • Terry
  • Sep 4, 2009
We loved Copenhagen and the hotel was conveniently located right next to the commuter train station at Osterpoort. The problem is that half the rooms overlook the train tracks and it is a very busy route so is quite noisy. We switched to the other side of the hotel and it was acceptable.

Mostly very nice

  • Business Traveler
  • Aug 9, 2009
Orbitz advertised 2 rates; it appears that the higher rate is for rooms in the back of the hotel which are NOT just a few feet from the trains. Thus the room was relatively quiet. Breakfast was not included, but the hotel charged for breakfast separately (without my consent). the rooms were small, but conveniently appointed except that there is not a tea pot/coffeemaker in the room. There is free coffee and tea in the Lobby at all hours.
