Prague Hotels

Prague (Praha) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is one of the larger cities of Central Europe and has served as the capital of the historic region of Bohemia for centuries.

This magical city of bridges, cathedrals, gold-tipped towers and church domes, has been mirrored in the surface of the swan-filled Vltava River for more than ten centuries. Almost undamaged by WWII, Prague's compact medieval center remains a wonderful mixture of cobbled lanes, walled courtyards, cathedrals and countless church spires. Prague is also a modern and vibrant city full of energy, music, cultural art, fine dining and special events catering to the independent traveller's thirst for adventure.

Regarded by many as one of Europe's most charming and beautiful cities, Prague has become the most popular travel destination in Central Europe along with Budapest and Krakow. Millions of tourists visit the city every year. Prague is renowned as a very "walkable" city. For those who enjoy seeing the old and new city by foot, one can easily walk from Wenceslas Square to the Old Town Square or from the Old Town to Charles Bridge and the Castle District.

Prague Castle, the biggest ancient castle in the world, floats like a mirage above the city offering beautiful views of the areas below. Also on site is the St. Vitus Cathedral with its lookout tower, the Castle Picture Gallery, several palaces and museums and the striking Royal Garden.

Absolut empfehlenswert!

Perfect Christmas location

  • Famagusta
  • Dec 30, 2011
It was brilliant! Friendly helpful smiling staff, plus we booked the hotels driver for pickup from airport who was delightful. The cost was 800 czech crowns or 30 euros very reasonable and a nice sleek Mercedes. Cleanliness was unbeatable, and a lovely lovely room, four poster bed, excellent mini kitchen, and expresso coffee maker as well. Fruit and biscuits on arrival and fruit juice in reception. Plus on Christmas Day we recieved a Gift wrapped Czech classical CD and chocolates, very nice touch, room was very warm, bed comfortable, location was perfect for all the good tourist sites, and we were enchanted from start to finish. I think the four days was perfect, no longer at this time of year. Prague was full of tourists it was very busy, plenty open on Christmas Day, loads of music concerts, and carol services. For what we paid we it was excellent value. Only problem was the journey, that's because of where I live though. Tip! Take some DVDs with you. Television is dire there. They do supply a DVD player. But otherwise I honestly cannot fault a thing. Would thoroughly recommend. The staff in the hotel arranged one of the tours for us which was the 6 hour walking, boat and tram one through the organizers, this gave us a free taxi ride to the starting point of the tour and complimentary tickets for the Ghost tour the next day. The tour included a three course meal and while lots of walking was very informative, well worth it and very well guided. The hotel recommended this one and they were right to do so, they helped with anything we asked. We have done many mini break European cities, this was way out front as a wonderful city, but importantly this was the best European hotel we have been in and none have been bad. If you get the chance go here!

The best hotel we've stayed in!

  • Dec 2, 2011
This hotel is by far and away the best hotel that my girlfriend and I have ever stayed in. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, the staff were amazing; very attentive and extremely helpful. They booked restaurants for us, came armed with multiple bulbs when one went out in our room and were always able to help with any of our queries. The room itself was simply stunning! A king size bed, gigantic bath, beautifully decorated, well equipped...I could go on and on! Everything was done to the highest standard. Often we don't spend much time in our hotel room when on holiday as we like to do as much as possible but here we were more than happy to spend time in the hotel because it was just so nice and homely. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and approximately 10-15 minutes from the old town. If walking isn't your thing then there's a tram stop a minute from the hotel which I think takes you to the old town. If you are going to Prague, this is the hotel you HAVE to stay in!

It is not all that is advertised. We would have liked the DVD slot on the TV as advertised. The bar is expensive. Once the sofa bed is down you keep tripping around it. The breakfast was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The Charles Bridge is twice as far as advertised.

We spent 5 days touring Prague in early September. Weather was good. Red and Blue design hotel is a very nice hotel located close to most of the tourist spots, within walking distance. Close to tram stop. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bath room had a nice big tub and a shower that had two kinds of shower heads which was bit tricky for us in the beginning as we were not familiar with that type. Our maid was nice with very pleasant ready smile. It is a very well maintained hotel. Breakfast buffet was a great deal for the money and was very good. The Chef was very attentive and menu changed every day. Waitresses were busy as a bee, constantly cleaning and replenishing the dishes that were laid out tastefully - feast not only for the tongue but also for the eye. Vi fi was working well all the time which was great -after our experience in the London hotel. We want to go back to Prague again and will definitely stay in this hotel.

My wife and I were at the Ametyst for two weeks. We had a great visit in Prague. We also went to Cesky Krumluv, Pilzen and Hutna Hora by train. We had a spectacular impression of the beauty of these places. The only negative note is in regard to the smoking rules of the restaurants and bars where it was difficult to find smoke free places. The Hotel is well kept and clean. The beds are very hard. Breakfast is a buffet offering a good varity of cereals, cold meats and cheese, breads, assorted jams and preserved with occasionnal fresh fruits. The scrambled eggs were often not cooked enough. No smoking was allowed during breakfast. The Hotel is located at 5 minutes walk from a main tramway and subway station. The street beside the hotel takes you to Prague main train station in 20 minutes walk. The old town square is 30 minutes away. Walkers, like my wife and I will enjoy this location. Unfortunately, We never had anyother meals at the Hotel restaurant as smoking was allowed in the bar part located adjacent to the Hotel lobby. One smoker was enough to smoke up the restaurant and the lobby. I made a comment to that effect at the reception on our departure.

I went on a trip around Prague. This hotel is located a little bit in an isolated area. However, that's why the circumstance is very good as everything is quiet, so I felt as if I were a resident in Prague. The homemade styled breakfasts tasted so good. Regarding the reception and the room service, no complaint. The room is narrow though I chose "superior double" but I think it's normal compared to those of other European cities and cleanness of the room is worthy of mention. 7 min walk to a tram stop and 10 min to one of the main metro stations. Recommendable one.

Hotelli sijaitsee rauhallisessa Zizkovin kaupunginosassa. Hotellista on parin minuutin kävelymatka lähimmälle raitiovaunupysäkille, josta kulkee vähän väliä vaunuja ympäri Prahaa, parhaimmasta liikekeskustan kävelykadusta aina historialliseen Mala Stranaan. Matka lentoasemalta hotellille sujui ripeästi ja edullisesti taksilla, paluumatkalle saa alennuskupongin, jolla pääsee takaisin lentoasemalle halvemmalla. Paikallisliikennettä käyttäen hotellille pääsee vain parilla eurolla per henkilö, 30 minuutin matkaan oikeuttavat liput maksavat vain euron kappale. Hotellissa on kielitaitoinen ja ystävällinen henkilökunta, hotellin vastaanotto on auki 24h/vrk. Aamiainen tarjoillaan klo 7-10, tyypillinen hotelliaamiainen, hyvälaatuinen sellainen. Suosittelen hotellia kaikille Prahassa matkaajille. Hotellin hinta/laatusuhde on erinomainen.

If I had paid the published rate for this hotel I would have been frustrated, but with the last minute deal it was a great value. My room was quaint and charming, the bed comfy. I was in an attic room so the sloped ceilings would have been problematic for someone taller. The location was ideal, I walked everywhere around town. They had a great breakfast spread. I requested the evening that I checked in to have a lightbulb replaced as it was flickering and about to go out and the flickering was annoying, reminiscent of a Hitchcock film. The front desk said they would take care of it while I was at dinner - the bulb was never replaced during my stay. The room had AC that barely worked, but it did sort of work which was helpful since the hotel is very near a tram line so it was noisy sleeping with the window open.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel. Fantastic location, within easy walking distance to all attractions and sights. Beautiful rooms and very helpful staff. The buffet breakfast was very good with hot and cold options. Would have eaten in the restaurant except we were turned off by the abrupt and off-hand service we received in the bar from a waiter who was looking after the bar and the restaurant one night. I think this was a one-off as the rest of the staff were excellent. Would definitiely stay there again.

This hotel has a great breakfast, friendly staff, and it is located close to Charles Bridge in Prague. You have to park your car at a parking place 10-15 minute walk from the hotel for an extra fee... but this is how Prague is- can't blame the hotel. Once you are in the city, you can walk everywhere you need to go. I would stay here again.

Excellent stay!

It was my 3rd short vacation trip to Prague. I've always had great experience with Prague hotels, but "Orion" was beyond my expectations! The hotel is located in the quiet residential area, not too far from the center. It is 5min walking to Namesti Miru subway station (A line), and tram #22 (scenic route). However, if you prefer walking, it will take you 10min to get to Wenceslas square (if you know shortcuts), 20min to Palladium shopping center, and 30min to reach Old Town Square. The hotel is very clean and cozy, with beautiful lobby, an elevator, and elegant staircase. It’s run by friendly staff who speaks good English. Special thanks to Martina, who took her time to help me activate the local SIM card on my phone! Reliable Wi-Fi Internet connection is available in the lobby as well as guest rooms. However, if you do not have a computer with you, there is a desktop PC in the lobby for guest access. Rooms are beautiful, with high ceilings and great new furniture. My room felt more like a residential apartment rather than a hotel room: a hallway separates fully equipped kitchen from spacious bedroom, which has an elegant office desk, and a safe. "Orion" will be the hotel of my choice during my next trip to Prague.

Vallan oiva valinta erityisesti omilla rahoillaan matkustavalle. Ainakin viides kerros hiljainen. SUOSITTELEMME!!!

We spent a lot of time walking - very convenient to Charles Bridge, Old Town and New Town. You can do Prague easily on foot but the trams and metro are quite convenient as well. It would have been nice to have had a sauna there but it was close to a Thai massage place so that was a plus. Great places to eat all around the hotel - Thai, Czech, Mexican, etc. The decor was Medieval style and done really well. The breakfast was well stocked with lots of choices - vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs (scrambled and poached), cereal, etc. The maids were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we had a bad stomach virus while we were there and their method of cleaning glasses left a bit to be desired - nowhere near the sanitary requirements here in the States but that is true throughout Eastern Europe.

Ottima posizione e buon rapporto qualità prezzo.

The hotel itself is very nice, modern and central for everything.. oh and a good breakfast too. On the downside the room was very small indeed. Some of the staff were very friendly indeed and would go beyond the norm, others however were very miserable and unhelpful (there's always a bad apple, right). If you do go, and love Steak, try Cowboys restaurant just a few metres away. Don't let the name put you off it's the nicest restaurant and the best food in Prague.

An Excellent Hotel

The Hotel Green Lobster is very near Prague Castle on the west bank of the river. It is in easy walking distance of all the main sites. The rooms are full of character, ours had ornately painted ceiling beams, period-style furniture and a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast offered a good choice of food in generous quantity to fuel a morning's site-seeing. The coffee was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. I would stay in the same hotel again if I revisit Prague.

Outstanding European Value and Comfort

  • Professor-on-the-go

For a European hotel in this very reasonable price range, the rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are well equipped, and all the amenities are available on site--spa, salon, etc. The massages at the Relaxation Center were extraordinary. Although not in the heart of Prague where the tourist sites are located, every form of public transportation (subway, trams, buses) is available just steps from the front door and tickets and information are available from the concierge--it was easy, inexpensive, and fast to get anywhere. A tour company has an office on the premises, and the hotel staff is also knowledgeable about other companies and helped us book day tours, including to Vienna. The breakfast included in the room price is exceptional with choices that are responsive to many cultural preferences. One additional meal per day is plenty, and the hours are extended.
