Budget hotel in a busy area with plenty of decent local restaurants and shops including a supermarket next door. At the price I don't think you can really complain. The rooms were clean and the reception staff were helpful. They didn't speak English but when my limited Mandarin wasn't enough they called the manager and he spoke English. Finding the hotel was a little tricky although it is on a main street. It's always essential in China to get the name and address printed in Chinese before you try to get a taxi driver to find it. Also most hotels including this one will have a local name that doesn't correspond with the English name. I printed out the name address and map from the hotel's own web site and the taxi driver found the hotel with only a little trouble.
If you want 4 star luxury then I would recommend the Sunshine Hotel or the Panglin but bear in mind they are about five times the price of this hotel.

価格相当だが、他のディスカウントプランのある同等ホテルと比べると割高。タクシーのアクセスが悪く廻り道しないとホテルに行けない、又、ホテル前はタクシーが通らないので急ぎの時は予約が必要。横のサウナにマッサージがあるが、過剰なチップを要求されるのでそのつもりで行けば、腕は確か。

we expected to have friendly and english speaking staff. even in reseption area, people had very poor english. we asked for room upgrade, they doubled charged us. Also, they wanted to charge the breakfast double ( in deed , that makes triple charge) when we found that there is a mistake, a 45 min discussion started. finally, they undertand that it was their mistake. so unorganized and it is not sheraton level...

I spent a week in Shenzhen for the long National Day Holiday. The Grand Skylight was recommended by other western travelers as a very good western hotel. Overall I agree, once you understand eastern culture and their sense of "style" this hotel is very good fit for those looking fora nearly western hotel experience while visiting Shenzhen.

I am very happy the hotel services but very disappointed for my booking with Empire Hotel, I think they still haven't set up the connection with Hotel Club, because they couldn't receive my payment from Hotel Club, I need to pay them again when I checked in. It was full effect my trip, however I need to get my booking refund from Hotel club and I would never book this hotel again.

The hotel was not informed of our booking prior to our arrival. However the staff were very helpful and assisted to call Orbitz to check on our booking. The deluxe room was clean and neat. Location is good as it's 10min stroll to the metro station.

Located in very crowded location. Staffs at reception are very bad at english, they don't even understand the basic english. No place to sit near the reception.

Assez bien placé pour visiter la ville mais située à côté d'une entreprise de mécanique qui tourne toute la nuit (donc beaucoup de bruit). Le personel ne parle pas vraiment l'anglais.

One of a Kind Hotel - Must see it!

I came to Shenzhen to practice Tai Chi and this hotel is located next to an old park that is a mecca for Tai Chi. That was good enough for me but the hotel turned out to be a real bonus on many levels.
First, the location is great. Right in the middle of the city with easy access to shopping, dining, busses and the subway. It's still a great mix of old and new.
Second, the hotel itself is super unique. All I can figure is that it was designed by a rich fashion hound. Every room, every hallway, every floor is unique, funky and tricked out. Rooms have murals, unique lighting and many design surprises. A fellow guest told me a travel show did an episode just on the hotel.
Third, the people are great. Very helpful, very friendly.
Rooms are available in a wide, wide, wide variety of prices so do check it out. It will make a great story about your trip.

The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The internet was free but slow. Some of the other customers seemed a bit hostile. For the price it was incredible value.

The majour problem I had in regency hotel was accessing internet from my room or even with my laptop.
There were just an old computer in so called business room sometimes connected to internet.

Very nice clean hotel

Located less than 100 m from exit E of Lao Jie subway stop and right next to Dongmen shopping district. Nice room. Helpful staff that speaks english. The only negatives are no hair dryer and deceiving listing that says there are laundry facilities. Clothes need to be sent out to be washed.
