This hotel was a perfect location if your looking for a nice quiet authentic old Beijing experience. We didn't feel like we were in a big city, and there was so much to explore. This isn't for the Hilton Inn types. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was good, you could even make your own omelette. We were only there for a couple days, so it was nice to just step outside your hotel and see some of the historic and charming beauty of old Beijing. We enjoyed just getting lost in the winding alleyways. Room was cramped but very clean, I would stay there again! Just a stroll away from funky shops and neat little restaurants.

From this well located hotel in Beijing's historic hutong's we exhaustively explored this gigantic city in 5 days. Many sites, Drum & Bell Towers, Hou Hai Lake & many restaurants & bars were within easy walking distance. Everything else was easily reached via subway with the closest station a short walk away. Walking through the hutong gave us an amazing, intimate view of the lives of regular people, just what we wanted! We also found and enjoyed wonderful bread and baked goods from tiny neighborhood shops there.
Getting directions to the hotel was a bit of a challenge, but the well located Tourist Office nearby got us pointed in the right direction. A tour company the hotel contacted for our day trip to the Great Wall changed details of the trip without telling us until we asked. But we also saw a great alternate site. So in the end it all worked out fine - given that we had almost no Chinese, and people made a great effort to help us.

Zimmer sind klein aber es ist alles vorhanden, gute Ausgangslage für eigene Unternehmungen. Im schönen Innenhof kann man sich nach anstrengenden Tagen gut entspannen.

Description
Beijing Lu Song Yuan is a traditional compound of quadrangle composing of 5 courtyards. It lies at the centre of the ancient city, in an old styled "hutong" (Mongolian for water well) in the eastern part of the city. Hutongs and quadrangles are typical Beijing architectural structures. Beijing Lu Song Yuan Hotel witnessed the history and legends of Beijing. The hotel building is famous for its imperial living taste of the Qing Dynasty with a history of nearly 170 years. The original owner of this large private house was the Grand General Zeng Ge Ling Qin, who invested in building this typical quadrangle courtyard and lived here while he carried out top official duties, such as defense minister, etc.

Wer gerne sparen möchte und auch einige Nachteile dafür in Kauf nimmt bei dieser Lage, ist genau richtig bei diesem Hotel. Der Service ist eher mau, das Personal spricht wenig Englisch und nicht immer kooperativ. Wir buchten zwei Doppelzimmer, was alles Einwandfrei geklappt hat, jedoch nicht völlig zufriedenstellend war. So hatte ein Zimmer eine Toilette direkt gegenüber der Wand und bedurfte ein Rübersteigen, sowie grosses Beinespreizen damit man mit den Knien nicht an der Wand anschlägt. Das zweite Zimmer war gut ausgestattet, hatte jedoch direkt eine Werbetafel VOR dem Fenster und nur kleine Lichtlöcher dadurch. Somit dunkel und eher unangenehm, Zimmer 1 schaute auf eine Mauer die 2m weiter weg war. Ein Wechseln des Zimmers wurde immer wieder neu vertröstet bis man und gar nicht mehr beachtete. Ebenso gab es keine zweite ZImmerkarte. Die Wände sind sehr dünn und dadurch hört man auch noch das Geplappere drei Türen weiter. Jedoch für den Preis eine akzeptable Leistung, da manche Jugendherberge mit schlechterer Lage und Ausstattung teurer ist!

Overall, it's very good value for your money. Room was clean and with basic amenities, except there was no internet connection. Location is not bad. Metro is like a 10-15 minutes walk. Customer service was good. The staff were friendly to keep my luggage till late evening for my airport departure.

Don't come in expecting anything beyond what you're paying for and you're golden. Room was a little dirty, but not disgusting, just enough room to sleep really. Reception knew a little english and generally tried to be helpful and there's a little store with bottled water and other necessities in the lobby. Beds are incredibly hard, but that's pretty much the norm with China if you're paying less than $50 a night. You can rent a computer in some of rooms for a fee that I believe equates to about $3 a day (USD). There's no WiFi here - just an ethernet connection in the room.
Location is pretty decent, but not the best in Beijing - I'd try one of the few hotels in the Hutongs if you want a similar experience for a similar price with a more interesting location.

Hotel room was very basic but adequate. Room we got was quite small but ok for 2. TV provides 30+ channels where only 1 channel in English. Bed was hard and bathroom was always wet and almost impossible to be kept dry as there is no proper shower cubicle so shower waters runs throughout the bathroom. Location great. Buses run in front of the hotel. Great walk to the Forbidden City. Was great though.

Hotel located just beside the Beihai Park, which is a entertainment center in the city, the excellent location provides such easy access to the bar street, most famous attractions, as well as shopping district, the hotel is recommended to the leisure guests who want see the traditional Chinese buildings and culture. It is 6 floors low-rise traditional building. Located near the city center, 40 minutes driving distance to the Capital International Airport, only 3 km to the Beijing Railway Station, close to most of the attractions like The Tian An Men Square, The Forbidden City, and the nearest subway station is within walking distance.

Description
Overall a clean and well presented property with an excellent location. Guest can enjoy the relaxation and quiet in the hotel which inside such a busy and prosperous city. It is recommended especially to leisure guests. (AW 6/08) It is a traditional Chinese courtyard with white brick wall surrounded. Located in a quiet by-street just a couple of minutes walk from South Luogu Alley which is a famous entertainment area in the city, and also with easy access to the Houhai Park and many of other attractions.
