this is a great location, near sights, shopping and restaurants. its clean and most of the staff is willing to help, and help you book tours of great wall, etc.
the restaurant downstairs, while a bit pricey for lunch, is convenient and a good value for breakfast.
If you venture to other parts of the city to go to bars or restaurants using cabs, know that the cab drivers will try to rip you off (80-100 rmb) to get back to this location, even when it only was 25 to get there...

Everything on our 3 day visit worked out surprisingly well, with the exception that I left feeling that the upgrade I was sold on arrival (better room/facilties) did not prove to be particularly good value for money.

Our room was very comfortable and immaculately maintained, with frequent housekeeping and turndown serivce. We used the concierge to arrange airport pickup and also a day trip to the Great Wall. Both were first class and comfortable. We also ate dinner in the two main restaurants and had terrific meals. The location is central Beijing and a great base for exploring the city.

Great Location!

In Beijing, it is paramont that a hotel be near a metro line because of heavy traffic. This hotel is in a great location right outside of the Metro #2 Line. It is also easy to catch a taxi as it is near the center.
The amenities of the hotel are okay. It is bit of worn here and there. But given the rate I got, I'd say it was the best value anywhere in Beijing for a 4* hotel.
I would stay in this hotel again if the rate remains as attrative as it was.

The location is wonderful. I could find the location very easily, and since it was in the middle of the city, I was able to get around quickly and easily. It is next to a major subway station, so finding my way around was not difficult.
The hotel is a bit older, but well kept. Overall, it was very good.

Excellent Hotel for families!

After much internet research we finally decided on Lee Garden Service Apts because of the price and the fact that we could get a 2 bedroom apartment. When we arrived and checked-in, we could not have been happier with the hotel!! Its in a very nice part of town, right on the main street. Close to subways, buses, shopping malls, and snack street (if you are hungry for a fried bug or something). The valets were always friendly and helpful, and we got 4 bottles of water each day in our room. Having seperate sleeping rooms made all the difference because we were traveling with a baby who needed to go to bed early. Also, the room had a tiny washer/dryer which really helped keep our packing to a minimum. The baby crib they supplied was not too great, pretty rickity. The room key had a $600 US deposit! That was a bit much I think! Other than that, we loved this hotel and would absolutly recommend it to anyone!

The only complaint with the room is that the AC didn't cool the room down enough. Other than that the hotel was great.
The staff was very friendly and sppoke excellent English. The accomodations weren't lavish, but were perfect for what we needed. We had plenty of room to spread out with our kids, it was very clean, and everything was in good repair and cosmetically in good shape. The kitchen was also a nice addition so we could leisurely enjoy our breakfast.
The walk to the Forbidden City took about 15 minutes, and there were also plenty of restaurants and shops in close proximity. The subway was three blocks away which made it very easy to avoid the traffic and head a little further away.

The location was between the night market and Forbidden City. Both were short walks away. The hotel staff, especially the bellmen were polite and helpful and spoke engish very well. I took a tour to the Great wall one day and walked to the Forbidden city the other. Both were worthwhile experiences.

Ok - there may be better appointed or more luxurious, but it doesn't get better than the Kapok. Fantastic location near the Forbidden City, Tianamen and the shopping streets, only about 2.5 KM to the silk market. The staff is fantastic. I travel the world for business and have found none better! Restaurant was quite good and a good value as well. When I am in Beijing, I don't even look at other places. This is my home away from home in China's capital city.

Quiet, comfortable Hutong experience

- Mar 24, 2011
Great service and staff, very informative and helpful. Most of the staff spoke at least some English. Website is a little misleading, in that the breakfast served in the restaurant/bar is 18Y per person/day. Their Great Wall tours and night shows are a good value, and transportation is included. Location is a little tricky for taxis to get to, but if you figure out the local bus/subway routes, getting around can be very easy. We would absolutely go back again!

Taxi's can't get to the hotel. Our cab driver called the hotel and they came in a bicycle-rickshaw and picked us up and took us to the hotel. The hotel was friendly, modern, and clean. The bathroom walls of glass was a bit unusual. The hotel represented good value. However, the hotel's bar/breakfast did not represent very good value. Spending time in a hutong is a very interesting experience, but perhaps not for the faint of heart.

Well situated in the CBD-area, close to subway, clean, large, comfortable rooms. Great gym-, pool-, and spa-area. Friendly service, but checkout was too slow. Bar Would gladly stay there again IF THEY COULD PROVIDE A BETTER INTERNET-connection. It was extremely slow and very frustrating. Prices in bar and lobby ridicolously high (but that´s in no way exceptional for this hotel).

5 star service, negotiatable extras, expensive buffet breakfast but worth the price (save your table upon entering), left out the door to beijings high end shopping streets, right out the door then a left or a right to bus stops and typical beijing street.
never a hassle or trouble getting a taxi at the hotel.
only negetive of the hotel-there was no heat or air-conditioning. (this is typical of many places in beijing at this time of year) my room was hot, but an open window made it comfortable and not noisy.
the restaurant did not add a service gratuity to my bill. many places do add a service charge to your bill, the employees do and dont recieve this money-as they are paid not as a regular wage and not thru tipping-if you want to tip, tip. this is the practice in china.

My brother and I stayed here for a week. The staff was amazing! Very helpful, friendly, and English-speaking (big plus for those of us that do not know Mandarin). The location, in the middle of a hutong, really helps you get to know the city. The hotel is also fairly close to a metro stop.

Bien situé au plan géographique, mais ignoré des chauffeurs de taxi, les retours le soir sont parfois difficiles.Sinon très bon accueil dans un lieu intimiste, particulièrement typique, agréable à vivre et très bien entretenu.

This is the 3rd or 4th time I stayed here. The only problem that I have is that they asked for 400RMB deposit. That's... a lot. But all in all, reasonable price and good location.

Do not get on top floor...airplanes! Our first stay was on the bottom floor and the room great. We had issues with the shuttle pickup at the airport. It was very late and we had to call hotel.

Location is everything!

This hotel is practically located at the center of everything you want to see in Beijing, located right in the Wangfujing Ave. Subway station is just two minutes away which connects to a web of attractions. The Forbidden City and the vicinity are all within walking distance. Wangfujing food and shopping area is just around the corner.
Now the not-so-good stuff: room is smaller than expected, bed is firm, but again all beds in China are practically the same. Rest room is reasonably clean but the carpet is stained and old. Did not use the hotel restaurant because there are too many selections just outside the hotel.
