Run Down, Badly in need of a make-over

We booked this hotel at the last minute and got a good rate of $99/night. It had rooms available and was in the right location and that was all it had going for it. The hallways of the hotel were damp and stunk of old cigarettes and mildew. The hotel was run down and the carpets were old. If you have allergies, you will suffer here. If you are heading to Rimouski for vacation or with family, do yourself a favor and book at the Hotel Rimouski right next door. It is a much nicer hotel, modern and clean and pretty for around the same price. If they had any rooms, we would have stayed there.

Very Nice Hotel

The quality of this hotel is definitely a cut above the standard family travel lodge. At a little of $100 per night before taxes, the hotel is a very good value. Our room was atractive and very clean, the beds and the bedding were unusually comfortable, and the furnishings were in very good condition. The staff were friendly and helpful. We only had breakfast at the hotel restaurant once. It borders on elegant with white table cloths, cloth napkins, and attractive surroundings. The hotel is definitely appropriate for children as well. Many familys had children at the hotel's very nice swimming pool. The location was excelent for us. We wanted to explore the Gaspe a little without making a trip around the entire peninsula. Rimouski is a city of approximately 40,000 people, so it has restaurants and shops to visit. We spent a day traveling to the west and had a wonderful time visiting the national park at Bic and hiking around the waterfront. We also spent a day traveling east, visiting the small towns strung along the coast. We only speak English, but we were able to get by quite well in this French speaking region of Canada.

The Hotel Rimouski is a clean, comfortable hotel situated right across from the St. Lawrence seaway. The accomodations are above average, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant in the hotel is convenient and the food, especially the dinners, was very good. There is only one elevator but I never had to wait more than a few minutes to get to my room. There is Wifi in the rooms at no charge, which is a nice feature. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay.
