The hotel was clean and quiet. It was difficult to communicate with the hotel staff due to language barrier. We had to continually request enough washclothes and bath towels to accommodate our family of four.
The hotel is located in a good location to be able to enjoy many area attractions.
The pool was immaculately clean.

Room was clean and overall good value. Some of the towels had stains but were definitely clean - I felt that they should probably have been replaced. The room was a tad bit hot when I arrived with the thermostat put up way too high and there was no way to turn on the A/C due to the season. I was able to open a window and get it to cool down after a few hours.

The rooms and service were not exceptional but perfectly adequate. The hotel's location is OK if you just want to hang around in the neighborhood - e.g., it's within walking distance to a beautiful garden park overlooking the lake - but it's a bit far away from downtown or from the freeways: takes a long time driving through local streets to get anywhere. But overall, a good place to stay for the price.

Too expensive considering its lack of quality
-
Khawaga
- Sep 17, 2012
Noisy fan and airconditioner. No way to have the lights on without the fan causing so much noise. Walls are so thin I could hear the people next door snoring so loudly. Walls are so thin that when they smoked it was like they were smoking in my room. However, I notified the owner and the smoking stopped the next day, not sure if its a coincidence or he really took care of it. Room is ugly and no window except very high in the ceiling and cannot be dimmed in anyway. Manager was quite rude and yelling on the phone. No one is around except from 2-6pm and if you arrive earlier, you can't even leave your bags. I wouldn't recommend this place, unless your only option is to sleep on the streets. It was not dirty, clean to an extent, the room was ok size and had a fridge and a microwave. If you are a group, it will be fine, but if you are a single traveler or if you need to get any work done in your private room, not the right place. Its suitable for backpackers who want some walls in a private room rather than sharing with six people. Too expensive for what you get. I paid 100 CAD/night plus tax. I would've been more accepting if I had paid 50.

Great location and the staff was very nice. The place is well kept and looks freshly painted. The common areas are large and well appointed. When it says "shared bathroom" it really should say that there are several bathrooms and showers available for use.
We do recommend that you make reservations because the office is not manned all day. If you arrive after hours, as we did, there are instructions posted on the door and a phone number to call. Your key is inside a lock box that you are told how to access. Once inside you fill out the check in forms that are waiting for you.
A parking lot is directly across the street. A full day costs $19 and is paid at the tire business next door. If you arrive after they are closed, just go over in the morning and pay for your duration.
The room is large enough for two people and luggage. No, they are not large but for a place to sleep they work great.
We ended up staying an additional three nights. For price and location, you can't beat it. If we return to Toronto, we will be sure to stay at St. Lawrence.

Hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Room was cramped. The end of the bed was about 12 inches from TV stand. We had to turn sideways to walk past end of the bed. Location was very convenient. The tram had a stop right in front of the hotel. It was easy to use and reasonably priced.

Good value for downtown Toronto

The place is within walking distance of all downtown, not far from CN tower, museums, a 20 min walk to Yonge St, but even though my feet were sore from walking all over for 2 days straight, the hotel was a good crashing place and for 100 bucks a night with 5$/day off street parking in a safe neighborhood, the hundreds of dollars saved was worth it. The room was small and utilitarian, but did have a fridge, small kitchen with stovetop and dishes and cutlery in room. Free wifi worked fine, staff was polite and helpful, and no noise. Included towels were small and threadbare, so bring your own, but other than that...I would stay there again if I go back to Toronto. Recommended for travelers who are on budget, just need a crashpad and don't want/need a 4-5 star place

The hotel was easy to find and was off the beaten path which we liked. Only 1/2 hour walk to get basically everywhere downtown. ( subway station is just around the corner ) Our standard room was ok, a bit basic, but the bathroom was excellent, all new and great shower. Breakfast was included however it was more of a continental one with cereals, cooked eggs and bread/waffles. Nothing fancy, but nice and clean breakfast room. Staff was friendly and helpful, parking on site, overall very happy with the hotel. Will stay again there if we come back to Toronto.

Location was perfect! I would have liked to known more about the building and the neighborhood. It was once owned by Hemingway but that is all the front desk guy knew about it. The breakfast was good, no fresh fruit though. The rooms were clean but run down. Overall it was a great place to stay for the money. Its a three star hotel, in an older converted home, so don't expect the Hilton and you will enjoy your stay. Our room had a walk in closet which made all the difference in the world when it came to comfort.

We went to the Ontario Science Center, great dining on the Danforth, etc. The Art Gallery of Ontario remodel is fabulous!
Hotel staff does not go out of their way to 1)recommend dining other than the hotel, 2)make it easier to obtain bus/subway tokens, 3)does not act very friendly.
Check your bill carefully, because I was charged for making an 800 call to their computer help desk twice (though I called only once). Also, they charged me the rack rate instead of the rate I reserved at for my additional night.

The room is very spacious. I love the bed lining and duvet cover. It was very comfortable and you won't want to get up. That was the best thing. I tried to find the brand of the sheet but I didn't find it. The breakfast buffet was very good especially the omelette. the TV set is old tube one, they should consider to change to flat screen. Overall, I think it is a value hotel. I didn't' check out the pool and fitness center. The staff were nice.
