The place is not easy to find and sometimes I'll miss the exit. But there were stores and gas station nearby so it wasn't hard to get food. The rooms were old but they were clean.

Good if you don't care

The hotel was very average and needed a bit of a makeover. The staff was very mediocre at best and the room service tried to kick us out of our room when we had specifically asked for an extended check out time. I don't like it when people wake me up from my sleep so that was a huge annoyance. We only stayed in Kitchener-Waterloo one night to party at a new nightclub so in this case, the hotel was okay. Just somewhere to sleep really - if you're looking for luxury or a comfortable family stay, it wouldn't be here.

Not my "cup of Tea"

  • John
  • Sep 17, 2009
I attended a trade show in area and most hotels were booked-up. It appeared the hotel had a multi story tower addition but I stayed on the ground floor in the old part - which was like a two story motel. People I met said the Tower was nice and quiet. It was a good thing I had to rise early as did whoever was staying above me. The floors creaked so much I was awake every time they were. I was up early in the mornings and had to creep along the hallway because the floors there also creaked so loudly I was afraid I'd wake someone. I noticed a bit of paper in the hallway when I walked to my room my first day. It remained in the same spot for the entire 3 nights and 4 days I was there. The people running the Hub, (resteraunt/bar) were freindly and they made-up for the shortcomings of the facility. As far as the hotel staff goes, after checking in I didn't hear a single word including good morning. At least the room rate was cheaper than the rooms at other places I would have preferred staying at.

We went to a Grand Prix Figure Skating Competition. The stay was OK. Location was very good - close to restaurants, mall, and the arena (The Aud). The people at the front desk was not familiar with our reservation through [...] - and I got billed again (although my reservation was fully paid). You can hear the noises from other bathrooms and there are only 2 small elevators in the hotel - but it was good enough for our stay

Visit with the family

The hotel was fantastic. The room service was great and prompt. The food was excellent, wonderful presentation, and arrived hot. The rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable. Lots of pillows and were labelled firm and soft for preference, which I thought was very neat. The staff was very pleasant and eager to please. The only thing that I didn't care for was the layout of the hotel, I could easily get lost with the way things are set up (very confusing layout).I did survive though.

Cheap, basic hotel

The hotel room was very, very clean. Nice, clean refrigerator and microwave in the room although I didn't use it. Staff turned up the heat prior to my arrival on a very, very cold night, so that was much appreciated. The hotel clerk was pleasant. The location was very easy to find, not far from highway. Was able to connect to wifi easily. No complaints.

The hotel was actually a motel. The room was clean and had a fresh scent which was welcoming. The pillows were very flat and no extra pillows were available. There were some burn holes in the blanket, but the room was clean, warm and provided a relatively comfortable stay.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating.[...] The bathroom was up a step from the rest of the room, which was odd. Also disappointed that the window didn't open. By morning the room was very stuffy. Ate at the Rum Runner which had decent pub-style food, but I thought the prices were a little steep for what you got. Overall, this is a charming old hotel and the staff were very friendly, but I won't go back until the renovations are finished.
