This hotel was a nice place for me to spend two nights in St. Johns. It is definitely old, and renovations are going slowly. That being said, it was clean, the restaurant was nice, and the price was half of a hotel downtown. This hotel has the best view of the city, and is only a 15 min walk from downtown.
Overall, i would stay there again. I would not recommend it to a honeymooner, but would to a person looking for a good deal.

room was clean, but the room above us had children who kept running and jumping and making a terrible racket way late into the night, room is not sound proof very well, then we had a nor-easter storm came in sat. with high winds and rain so we had to cut our stay a day short

excellent service..very courteous.even at 1am checkin and 4 am checkout. staff always available...helpful....if they didn't know they made an effort to find out. there was a championship which meant there were lots of families on site but the hotel was quiet and clean at all times. Hotel is close to airport, No.1 hgwy. easy to access sites such as signal hill, quidi vidi and highways to cape spear and ocean tours....petty park is right nest door as were the essentials such as walmart and costco. downtown was right down the road.

A no frills hotel with a great view of the city and harbor. Rooms were clean but a bit outdated. Upper floor hallway carpet was stained and/or dirty.
The hotel resturant (a bit small) is actually part of the bar and has a great view of the harbor. Had two breakfasts and a dinner at resturant, good value and food.

Hello,
Well the hotel construction was right beside my room - no warning! Also, the children upstairs ran all night and the sound proofing is poor. There is a shuttle to and from the airport, which was great but no one told us. We paid 13.00 to get a cab. We were working and did not want to be bothered so cleaned our own room. The staff were respectful and polite and the restaurant was very good.If I did recommend this hotel it would be with the proviso to ask about the noise levels.

Really enjoyed the stay at the Courtyard. Very friendly staff. Only 2 things kept me from making it a perfect place to stay. 1. Insufficient parking. Small parking lot across the busy street would fill up and had to park on the street somewhere else or down the hill in a gravel lot and lug bags up the hill. 2. The view was great, but you had to stand up to see it. The designer of the hotel should have made floor to ceiling windows.
I would suggest also a continental breakfast be included. The attached Smitty's was inconisistent. Sometimes good food, othertimes, not so much.

Nice and clean hotel but not as well equipped as other Marriotts I have visited. There was a small but modern gym but no pool or spa. There is also a laundry room and a restaurant on site. In room free internet is not wireless. Parking is free but limited. The staff was helpful and friendly. The views from the harbour rooms are well worth the upgrade if you don't mind some noise. Good value at the right price.

Abba Inn check in was effortless even though we arrived at midnight. Nice room and great location for walking access to downtown. Though the Inn was quiet inside, street noise (cars) was heard 24/7. Overall, the Inn was a good value.

We had trouble finding a hotel even though we booked months in advance of the George Street Festival. The B&B was clean and confortable and a short walk to downtown. The only things we did not like was breakfast was at a set time (8-9am) and there were many flights of stairs to get to our room. Also, check in is not until 4pm. However, we paid an extra fee for a check in at noon.
Overall, a good find for a comfortable stay in St John's.

The room was comfortable except for the very thick quilt. Too warm on, too cool off. Took a bit of thermostat adjustment to get comfortable. Members of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was way overpriced and understaffed. Everything for made-to-order omelets was in place but no one available to make them. One of the waitresses said she would prepare one for me but was so busy with the tables that I tired of waiting and settled for the buffet food. By the time I finished eating, someone showed up to make omelets. Subsequently, I had breakfast at restaurants close by and was satisfied with the food and prices. By and large, a nice place to stay and the underground parking was appreciated since it rained for much of the time I was there.

Before I had arrived at the holiday inn I was under
the impression that the swimming pool would be
open and I was looking forward to my last day in a
pool to relax and take it easy . I had asked the lady
near the front desk to the where abouts of the pool
but she did not tell it was closed or will be closing.
Even the night before when I arrived which was sep.
5 th. I did not see any sign indicating the closure.
On the moring of sep.6 th. I found out to my great
disappointment.

close to shopping and restaurants

We attended the soccer nationals in st. johns and the hotel was very close to the park which was great. The only thing I would have liked that our room didnt have was a microwave and fridge. The hotel was an older hotel but redone very tastefully. The rooms were cleaned every day and we were given clean towels every day, which we didn't find at other hotels. Overall I was happy with our room.

Read if you plan to use airport shuttle

I booked this hotel because it was one of two hotels in the area with a complimentary airport shuttle. However, upon checking in, I was notified that the airport shuttle couldn't be guaranteed before 8 AM, which didn't do me any good since my flight was at 8:40. When I explained that I booked the hotel because of the shuttle service and that neither the Ramada or Orbitz websites listed time restrictions for the airport, and the hotel did eventually end up paying for my cab, but keep this in mind if you have a flight before 9 AM. Other than that, the room was spacious, clean, and had free wifi.

When I checked in I asked if there would be front desk service for an early check out,and was told that there was someone at the desk 24 hours a day. When I went to checkout I found the door locked,with a note stuck on the door to call this number if you needed assistance . A phone was in a box on the side of the building.I called the number expecting to be told that he/she was in another room & would be right there. NOT SO. I was asked to wait for his return form his home from across town.I could not believe that the same employee that told me there was 24 hour service was the same person that went home & I had to wait outside for him to return to the hotelWhen I asked why i was told that there would be someone there & there wasn't I was told that the person who was to work that night was sick,so he had no choice to do what he did. Strange thing that he was able to get a phone installed on the building but could not work the shift himself,I told him that when i work I have to go to my place of work .I can not go home & expect people to call & then wait for me to show up. I have worked in a hotel, I have also worked night shift .I do not think my employer would like it if I went home & stuck a note on the door. I am not 100% sure but I do believe that by law (fire regulations) there should be someone on site 24 hours a day.I do not know what would have happened if there was a real emergency ! Will NOT STAY AGAIN.

My first night in St. John's, I stayed at Holiday Inn, which turned out to be a $12 cab ride away from downtown. I took a risk with Gower House, which was around half the price (I was a single traveler, got the "cozy" room), and was glad that I did. Super location a block from downtown and an internet cafe (Mocha Cafe)! It's in a historic-looking house, but my room was clean and looked like it had been newly renovated (nice fixtures). I especially appreciated what the bathroom was stocked with (shaving cream, Listerine). Breakfast was simple, but good!

after meeting the manager, we immediately cancelled.
His demeanor and arrogrance was so over whelming that we did not feel safe. And after he finally found the reservation, we were informed that our room was in the basement...
What was posted on the side was far from the actual look, with a lot of clutter and trash, let alone the smell.
