Great City Stop Over

  • Super Beachy

The hotel is great for location. A short walk from the Canada Line and taxis waiting at the front door. The hotel is beautiful with a lounge, liquor store and restaurant. I would say it is more of a Victorian feel.

We received an upgrade to a much bigger room/suite which was wonderful. Lobby, bar, restaurant very nice and high end. The room itself though seemed to need a makeover. They had made an attempt to do some updating, but wasn't done well-the spaciousness and cleanliness were excellent though. The hotel is right in the middle of everything which made it very easy. They also helped us rent a car for the day which was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and loved Vancouver!

We were there for only one night, so we wanted to make the best of it. Fairmont Pacific Rim did just that. The room was out of a design magazine. We could not have asked for better service right from when we entered the door till the moment we got back into our car. Location was terrific. We did not even need our car to enjoy a lot of sights.

We splurged to stay here for our 10th wedding anniversary, and we were glad we did! We got a deluxe room, which I would totally recommend because it's well worth the extra $$ - it's HUGE and the bathroom is particularly spectacular. The pool, spa, cafe, etc. are all great. It's a charming, older hotel that has been meticulously upgraded and modernized, and so is way nicer than staying someplace corporate and dull. The staff was exceptional - especially Connie the concierge and Jim the driver. Just nice and not stuffy and totally helpful. Location couldn't be better. Really - it's expensive, but at least you can be sure you'll get what you paid for.

No Bar! Otherwise nice.

  • Fearghus
  • Oct 15, 2012
We found out when we arrived that the bar was closed for renovations, leaving the hotel experience a little flat - I had heard good things about the bar and it's music in our guidebook. We were not informed of this closure when booking. Hotel room was nice - big flatscreen tv. For some unknown reason, we couldn't choose to book a Kingsize bed or 2 Queensize beds on the website - of course this invariably meant that when we got to the hotel, our room had the wrong option (2 Queens) - sort it out ebooks! Luckily, due to a cancellation, the extremely friendly staff found a suitable room an hour later for us, no extra charge. Taxi rank outside was a bonus. Plenty of restaurants nearby, and on a street with lots of nearby clothes shops. Free Wifi, worked in the hotel room.

Great hotel; Better service

  • Rkclay

We just spent the weekend at L'Hermitage and could not have been happier with the level of service and quality. Literally from the moment we pulled up to the hotel, until the moment we checked out the service was top notch, and every member of the hotel staff we encountered made us feel welcome. Great location in proximity to Yaletown and Gas Town.

Nice botique hotel

  • Chicago world travelers
  • Oct 30, 2011
The staff was exceptional. The concierge, Nathalie, was the best! She really helped with organizing our week long trip, took care of dinner reservations, etc. The hotel restaurant named Diva was a pleasant surprise for both breakfast and a late dinner. The room was clean and well maintained. The only two negative comments were that the soft goods in the room, bath sheets, towels, bath mat, etc, were a bit worn and frayed. Second, the televsion system/tv were out of date and had limited selections. Overall, great location, exceptional staff, and well worth the price on Orbitz.

nice hotel, great location, wonderful pool and terrace

  • Andrew Milan 73
  • Aug 15, 2012
The hotel is situated just a short walk from the Waterfront, so it's very easy to walk everywhere across downtown from it. It is situated in an office building so the lobby is not vast and there isn't a bar or a breakfast room with people hanging there as you would find in other hotels. The rooms are clean, good size and comfortbale and so are the bathrooms. The real plus of the hotel is that it is very quiet and gives you access to a fitness center with a good gym and a very large pool with a wonderful view and terrace over Vancouver waterfront and northern shore; the fitness center also has a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Unfortunately it is not cheap, but nothing is so in Vancouver so the ratio quality-price is reasonable

Great Choice

  • Jul 13, 2012
Pros Very friendly/helpful staff THE GYM!!!!! The extra sink/counter space/fridge/microwave in the room was handy. Great views Excellent location Minor Cons There is something slightly odd about residents sharing the building with a hotel. Rooms were a bit generic (but well kept and clean) Elevators were quirky If you're looking to explore Vancouver then you should choose this hotel on location alone. Why would you want to be landlocked in the middle of the city when you can be close to the water and the spectacular mountain views. Excellent gym with amazing views of the water/mountains. Definitely one of the best hotel gyms I've ever been to. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. There is something quite old fashioned about the way the hotel operates, but in a very positive way. I think it had to do with the staff. They seem to have a higher level of professionalism/respect to their customers then most big chain hotels. It was refreshing experience.

Very nice historic hotel in central location

  • Stmalo7
  • Aug 19, 2012
The building is not as exceptional as some of the other historic Fairmont properties, such as its hotels in San Francisco or Boston, but it is still a lovely historic building with a lot of charm. The renovations were very well done and consistent with the period of the hotel. The staff here is mixed. There were quite a number who could have been more accommodating and friendly. Just because a guest enjoys an historic hotel with a lot of charm does not mean that he craves an aloof or condescending attitude. We had to really pressure the person at the front desk to look into where we could store out bicycles. Her immediate response was negative, and she said that there was simply no room in the hotel for the bicycles. It was only after I pressured her that she agreed to call the bellman, who brought the bikes to a huge storage room off the entrance to the garage.

The location could not be better if you want to be downtown - 2 blocks from City Center station, right next to the impressive Vancouver Art Gallery, and across the street from great shopping (Pacific Center & Albernie Street). The room was clean and comfortable. Oh the pillows - I didnt want to get out of bed!!! :) This staff was very friendly and helpful re: suggestions and getting around on public transport. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the building is beautiful.

We walked around the downtown area, went to the botanical gardens, shopped and had some wonderful food. The only negative is that we feel we were overcharged by the cab driver when he drove us to the port for our cruise. He never turned the meter on and we didn't notice until we were just about at the port.

This is a very nice hotel with the most helpful, friendly staff, who go out of their way to provide very good service. There was not a single person who was indifferent or provide mediocre service. It was a little pricey, but they make it worth the money you are spending. I got probably the cheapest room but I still got a very good view!

The Loden hotel was one of the best hotel experiences I've had when traveling for pleasure. The staff was very attentive, and the design and comfort of the room showed great attention to detail. The location can't be beat, either...almost anything you'd want to do is in walking distance. When I'm back in Vancouver, I will definitely stay at the Loden.

Great Staff

  • foxglove
  • Nov 15, 2011
My credit card had difficulty the first time they ran it (I was traveling out-of-country), and the front desk staff told me to go ahead and settle in, then come back down to resolve the issue. The awesome professional cleaning staff neatly placed all my strewn jewelry in a small dish by the sink, and first pulled up the sink stopper so nothing fell down the drain accidentally. Love the attention to detail. Doorman/valets were friendly. Turndown service included two cookies and a couple of bottles of water every night. The Executive Queen room was quite small, the heating vents were less than ideally placed, and the price is normally fairly high (although in-line with boutique hotel prices in the area), no free parking, and the parking is valet, which means no quick in & out for sightseeing. What really made this hotel stand out were the fantastic staff. They exhibited all the qualities you look for in a relaxing stay: courteous, friendly, efficient, and accommodating. We didn't try the spa services, or the restaurant (too many other things to see in Vancouver!), but the location is fantastic. You can walk to everything around downtown, and easily bus to the West End, if you don't feel like a bit of a hike. Tons of shops and restaurants within a dozen blocks, and the couple of block radius around the hotel felt very safe (half-dozen blocks in one direction late at night gets skeevy). Check your map and online to make sure you're not headed off towards a bad area if you walk late at night.
