In Edmonton for a family wedding, reception was at the Shaw Conference Centre.
Loved the location and the staff bent over backwards to make my stay wonderful!
Especially great was the 24 hour whirlpool that we rested our danced out legs in at three o'clock in the morning!!
Car aerial stolen while parked in parkade, suggest storing non -roof mounted in car while parked there!

Everything was just average with a distinct lack of amenities. Instead of the personal touch it had vending machines which lacked necessary items needed. The service from the front dest staff ranged from good to bad; inconsistent and frustrating.

One of my faves, unfortunately after 9 hours of driving the Botanica night staff were adrift in a sea of incompetency. After a 20 minute wait with our menus and having poured ourselves our own water as I was having a coughing jag, we left the half dozen or so other customers and went to Esmeraldas! The waitress, [...]served us immediately even though she had quite a few customers in the bar! The food arrived promptly and she was extremely solicitous!Maybe she should have given the restaurant staff a few pointers!Anyhow, SHE saved the day and a big thanks go out to her...otherwise everything was great. We did the complementary buffet the 2 mornings we stayed and morning staff at the Botanica were much more on the ball!

I stayed on Whyte to celebrate St Pat's day and not have to drive! The Varscona offers an evening wine tasting which is a nice touch and starts the evening off nicely. The rooms are clean. The front staff is accommodating. The cleaning staff however starts very early in the morning and are quite loud-not pleasant when the guests are trying to sleep in!

This hotel was a great value for the money! Located in the heart of downtown, on a cool autumn day I didn't even need to put a jacket on to enjoy shopping in the core, as it's conveniently connected to the pedway system. The room was excellent, large, clean, and quiet. I happened to arrive at a particularly busy time, but the staff expediciously handled all the guests checking in in a timely manner. Recommend!!!

Dirtiest place we eever stayed so far

The carpet is not vacuumed daily. No replenishment of basic toiletries like shampoo and bath soap. Can not understnad written english request like two more extra bath towels instead the housekeeping only left us with one bath towels no face or wash towels.
The stairs and the corridors are not well lighted and the corridors smelled like an old building. Management has to do something about cleanliness and odor of the inside of the hotel if they wnat more business.

This was a wonderful experiance, the rooms were so modern and comfortable. I was very impressed with the fitness and swimming pool area being open for 24 hours. Very curtious staff and helpful with directions and things to do in Edmonton. I would recommend this hotel to any one.

Our room had the most incredible river view and the terrasse brunch at the hotel was just as memorable. We couldn't be more satisfied for the price. We paid a mere $130 vs the usual $180 rate. The bathroom was the one aspect of the room that was dated and more motel than hotel.
We didn't make it to the gym, but friends said they were impressed.
Though the lobby isn't spacious, the bar/lounge/restaurant was open, charming and made us feel like we were in the French Riviera.

The Hotel Macdonald was friendly, clean and efficient. We checked into the room early with no problem. The room was very quiet and the view was beautiful; we really enjoyed it as we ate our breakfast inroom - great breakfast, beautifully presented. We had lunch on the patio which had the same superb view and fantastic service! I think if you want to get-away to the city of Edmonton, this is the place to stay - you are right downtown, we went to the Winspear Theatre for a jazz concert and walked within minutes.

This hotel was very convenient for events I attended at the Shaw Convention Centre (next door) and other downtown hotels. It's walking distance to a shopping mall, restaurants, and a nice grocery store. The Front Desk staff was polite and helpful and the room was clean and offered everything a person needs (including mini-refrigerator). The breakfast buffet is OK but the staff was slow with coffee, individual orders, and the bill.

The hotel room was good and had everything we expected. The irritant was that the hotel room was advertised at CAD 100 per day but when we reached there late at night we were informed that the room cost did not include parking. I was charged CAD 22 per day for the parking. This increased my overall cost at the hotel unexpectedly by 20%. I advise the hotel to be transparent in its room pricing so that customers have a satisfying experience.

While the hotel seems a bit understaffed (long waits if you call the front desk or are waiting for something at the front desk) but the staff was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. Our room was in an extension in the back of the hotel It was a very long walk and the room itself was very dark even with all the lights turned on and the curtains opened- not intolerable but a pain if you are in the middle of a book. They have really good food, great shows, and solid trade center & and gym. The bad side being when the shows are running there is really limited guess parking - If I was to do another expo I would look for a different hotel

we went to go shopping, and would of like to enjoy a hot shower after shoppping all day long. there was no hot water in the shower. we phoned to get it fixed. they thought they had fixed it so the next day we went to use it and it was ice cold again. thank goodness the jacussi tub had hot water. other then that the hotel was good.

It's in a good location, but the lobby was crawling with cockroaches (we're talking upwards of 20 in maybe 10 square-feet). Not something you want to be welcomed by when first entering a hotel.
It was gross.
Oh the other hand, staff was quite pleasant..

Eventhough our stay was only for a night, it was satisfying and hassle free.The room was a standard sized,neatly maintained with a well stocked washroom.Plenty of garbage cans at the right spots.
The breakfast was excellent and served in the spacious restaurant.A good varity of items such as pancakes,scambled eggs,hashbrown,cakes,muffins and hot coffee served at the table which unique to us.

The reservation was a bit of a computer glitch. [...] had to break my 8 day stay into 2 reservations to make it work for some computer reason.The room was ok. Standard, on the small side, but it had all I needed without any frills. The wifi was a little slow. The continental breakfast was adequate, but barely. I had no issues with noise. The location suited my stay, as I was attending classes nearby. There were a few close eating places and a superstore, with an atm. I picked this place because it was the lowest price of those in the vicinity. I would recommend this hotel if you are just looking for a clean room and the location is good for your needs. If you are looking for a little extra comfort, go somewhere else.

There are some nice stores nearby to shop around if u have a rental car, but hotel location is pretty good......In room jacuzzi is a must, have to have it in my next trip......The only thing i don't like is the breakfast, No selection at all....
