Ocean view.Beautiful location Helpful Staff

  • May 22, 2012
All rooms face the beach and ours was ~ 20 yards from the ocean and a clean, great beach. We could hear the ocean at night - very relaxing. Room was clean and spacious but a little outdated and could have benefited from screen doors. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The hotel is a short walk from bus stops and a grocery store. There is a small fridge in the room. 15 minute bus ride to Hamilton and from there to any other bus line on the island. Coco Reef is first choice on our next visit.

Coco Reef was great!

Our week at Coco Reef couldn't have been better. Rooms were comfy, staff was wonderful, beach and ocean were beautiful. Restaurant was slow on our arrival. We were told that the chef is a perfectionist and that accounted for our long wait for dinner. Two lunches there later in the week were speedy. Front desk staff was helpful in making reservations, tee times, calling taxis, recommending restaurants. We did have a slight problem with ants invading our bathroon - no idea where they came from or what attracted them - but cleaning staff took care of it for us. It would have been nice if the hotel was closer to the bus stop.

Nice little hotel. The sunset view from the room was amazing. The kitchen was nice to have, especially on nights we were to tired to go out. From this location having a scooter all week made it easy to get around. Off season is a great time to go, we hardly saw another person all week and the hotel was quiet at night.

Off-Season Visit

  • Feb 21, 2012
Our first visit to Bermuda. King suite on the water with a view of Hamilton and Paget Harbor was very nice. Hotel ferry to/from Hamilton was handy. All the staff (esp. Andrew and Patricia) were very helpful as was the use of the shuttle from and to airport and also the hotel shuttle to the beach, golf course, and even to a near-by grocery. Food (lunch & Sunday Brunch) was very good though a little pricey, like a lot of Bermuda restaurants. Cab ride from Hamilton was about $10. Scheduled an island tour for us on Sunday (a slow day on Bermuda) with an very good guide (Ivan Smith).

Return to Bermuda

  • Bermuda lovers
  • Sep 6, 2009
Good for business traveler or tourist confident enough to ride a skooter. Bare bones, off the tourist area and bus routes, but VERY convenient to the ferry route to Hamilton ($5 round trip). Literally waterfront to Hamilton Harbor. Continental breakfast- coffee, tea, juice, toast, skones/muffins, granola, yougart, that's it. Front desk is very helpful and room is cleaned daily.

Great location, but accommodations were not as listed

  • Jan 4, 2012
Perfect location and could be a wonderful place to stay IF the advertising were correct. The hotel's advertising says "every suite has a kitchen." - not true. Only the deluxe suite has a stove. A kitchen must include a stove, even if only two burners. The advertising also said "every suite has a king bed or two double beds." Again, not true! The hotel has zero rooms with a king bed and zero rooms with two double beds. They have rooms with one double bed and a couch which makes into a double bed. However, the mattress in the couch had springs which punched my adult daughter in the back and she rolled into the middle of the bed when she got inside. The continental breakfast that was included in our rate was fine the first three days we were there. We were given food because there was very limited staff working during those days. They forgot to give us milk, so we used our own milk we had purchased at the store. Two days before we left we asked for more cereal and for milk. It was never given to us. Four of the days we were in Bermuda were holidays - Sunday, Christmas Day; Monday, Boxing Day; and Tuesday, a holiday in lieu of Christmas Day which fell on a Sunday; and Sunday, New Year's Day. The management offered to move us to a deluxe suite with a stove BUT demanded $100/night EXTRA to do so. Since the deluxe room still had only one double bed with a couch that made into a bed, I declined. The advertising should be changed to indicate 1 double bed plus a couch that makes into a bed. The advertising should also be changed to indicate that stoves are included only in the deluxe suites. Bermudians are the friendliest people I have ever met in all my travels around the world. Even the public servants who were working on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Years were friendly. The staff at the hotel was friendly, especially the night watchman. New Year's Eve there were revelers that lasted in the hallways far into the night and early morning. I finally went out into the hall at 1:00 a.m. and shushed them. We had to be up at 4:45 a.m. to make our flight back to the US. No staff appeared to be at the hotel to quiet the other guests. This I do not hold against the hotel.

A beautiful and historic hotel that has closed the rooms in the main facility, making it feel abandoned and too quiet. Rooms are in buildings spread about the sprawling property.

The hotel and room was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that not all of the hotel's on premise restaurants were open. I saw signs that they would open the end of April. Therefore, if you wanted to dine at Elbow Beach, choice of restaurant/food was very limited.
