Disappointing in Many Respects
-
julietlima
- Jan 15, 2012
This hotel falls short of its 4* status in most areas except prices! It is a pleasant, out of town, modern hotel similar to the artist's impression shown, but in no way luxurious. It is clean, warm, comfortable but a bit impersonal . There is free WiFi and a sauna and gym . It is away from the city centre, not far from the hospital, in a quiet and ruralised location ( there is a field with sheep ). A discounted taxi service can be used .
Bottled water left in the room is NOT complimentary, as you find when paying your bill, but complain if there was no indication. Minibar is also expensive to use . There were no tea/coffee making facilities, nor a pillow menu. Secure car parking charged for. ( Surely all these are to be expected in 4* accommodation? ). 'Facial' tissues in the bathroom were in fact loose leaf toilet tissue.
The restaurant serves good food at a high price, but closed without notice while we were there. Even staff could not say why. Luckily we were directed to a local bistro round the corner which was excellent ( towards Centre, 2nd R at first roundabout ) Baristro le Staff.
On the whole, it was good value accommodation, and we would use it again. The art work is interesting and brightens the place up.

Great location for visiting the town. Very helpful and kind staff. Excellent standard of breakfast. Hotel Car parking seemed expensive especially as we had anticipated it would be included at this hotel from the facilities list. Would certainly pick this hotel again if visiting Brugge which we hope to do as lots more to see and visit.

Hotel Ter Brughe is situated along one of the most picturesque Brugean canals in the peaceful old quarter of St-Gillis. You will find the hotel near the 14th century Augustine Bridge. The house has been built in 1553 and is now a listed building. Thats is the reason why you will not find a lift in the hotel. The oldest part of the hotel is the vaulted cellar. Built originally as a warehouse for goods which were brought here along the canals, it serves today as a magnificent setting for your buffet breakfast.

A lovely hotel in a great location close to the centre of the city. The building is beautiful, right next to the canal. We had a superior room which was spacious, warm and very comfortable and looked onto the canal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would have liked it more if the staff had been more friendly and helpful. Being typically British we would have liked tea & coffee in the room too!! On the whole though we thought it was lovely and would stay there again.

Really lovely hotel, and the buffet
-

Really lovely hotel, and the buffet breakfast was great! (After a month's touring, the Brito breakfast was the winner - it took up half of our mornings :). Good spot too, being just a short, pleasant stroll to the centre of things. The freely available internet was a Godsend, given our stranding due to the snow... Started out in one of the most expensive rooms then transfered to a 'deluxe' room which was much cheaper and really just as nice, only not as large (but large enough).

Bruges was one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. The Hotel was perfectly located and the staff was absolutely delightful. We had a room on the third floor and the stairs were a little steep, but that just sort of added to the flavor. Bruges is VERY walkable. The Hotel is also a lovely walk from the train station through Minnewater park. When you go, please go to the Druid Celler Irish pub right off the main town square. The owners are warm and inviting. There isn't anything about our stay that I didn't like.

Hotel was centrally located but this city is difficult to navigate. When I arrived front desk clerk gave me directions to a parking deck that was about a mile away. There is one right before it but because the streets are 1 way and flow a certain way, you have to drive all the way around the Centrum to get back to it. (Better than walking from other parking lot) Parking will cost you 8,70 euros for up to 24 hours. To use the Internet the hotel cost is 10 euros per 1 hour. At check-in they said that "Orb" had not charged me or paid them and wanted me to pay again. I refused and in the morning they said it was paid. Breakfast was good for Europe. Eggs and Ham + continental. 1 elevator is broken of the 2 and staircase is outside. Shower head is too low and you have to squat to get under. Door of bathroom is very thin and not very private.

Twenty minute walk from town centre which turned out to be a good thing as there was a carnival in the town centre operating till 2am, loud music etc. Staff very helpful and cafe/bar open till 11pm. Room small and no air conditioning but otherwise adequate.

Brugges is lovely, and if money is no object you can spend several days wondering around its interesting streets. If you have better things to do with your money, you can see it in just one day. It is a very pricey city.

La tablette de l'étagère pour ranger le linge était par terre et malgré l'avoir signalé à l'accueil rien n'a été fait pour la remettre en place. Le rapport qualité prix pour cet hotel est loin d'être le meilleur.
