No water in main pool. Paid for premium swim up suite. Would of been nice to have a drink by the pool long haul to get one. Impossible to get dinner reservations. Not enough staff impossible to get someone on the phone even harder to get a hold of mananger [...] heard that was her name left messages for her to call me. Never happened. Do yourself a favor stay some where else.

Don't stay here

OVERALL PROS: - Rooms are clean and modern - Hotel grounds are very nice OVERALL CONS: - Overpriced - Awful customer service from concierge and front desk - Long lines at check-in / check-out - No nightlife - Food wasn't very good - Long distance (and costly taxi ride) to / from Cabo San Lucas = = = = = = = = = = Overall, I would never recommend anyone stay at Barcelo Los Cabos. The hotel has a nice appearance, but we were quickly frustrated by the customer service. We checked in and the front desk recommended we made reservations for one of the "specialty" restaurants (AKA - all the restaurants except for the buffet or the snack bar). After checking in, we walked directly to the concierge to make reservations. ALL OF THE RESTAURANTS WERE BOOKED THE FIRST TWO NIGHTS (we were only staying four nights)!!! I complained and the concierge LITERALLY shrugged her shoulders and ignored me. The only reservations available for the third and fourth nights were 6pm and 9:30pm. When we returned to the front desk and complained, we received another shoulder shrug. Not a good way to start the trip. The rooms are clean and modern. They have "smart rooms" with everything (lights, alarm, curtains, etc.) controlled from the TV. It's a novelty... but, often, it would freeze up and need to be re-booted. There's internet on your TV, but it's terribly slow (0.11 mbps when tested). If you bring your own computer, plan to pay $20 per day for wi-fi service (so much for all-inclusive!). The food at the buffet was so-so at best. Often it tasted as though it had sat under the heat lamp far too long. I'd fill my plate with food that looked pretty good, come back to my seat, take a bite of everything, push it away, and go back for something else. Repeat… Although they said the hotel was booked, it was completely dead. There was no nightlife as the bars were completely empty in the evening. The theater was embarrassingly empty... performances in a HUGE, albeit nice, theater to about 10 people. Later, when walking by the specialty restaurants, we noticed they were practically empty. All booked, huh? To witness any sort of nightlife or do any sort of activity (snorkeling, sport fishing, etc.), Cabo San Lucas is a 25 minute and $35USD taxi ride away (each way!). Our dinner at the first specialty restaurant (the French one) was pretty good. Everyone was pretty pleased with the service and their meals. It was the only good food we had while staying there. We got room service and the food was inedible. I've never really had a bad quesadilla, but they managed. It was soggy, cold and… even though I was hungry… I couldn't eat it. Oh… and room service isn't included in the ALL-INCLUSIVE deal. Sheesh. The meal at the second specialty restaurant (the steakhouse) was pretty awful. The appetizer tasted like something that was pulled out from under the aforementioned buffet heat lamp again. The soup and salad was served from a buffet… but, since we had the "only" reservation available at 9:30pm, they were actually closing up the buffet when we went to get food. Ugh. Terrible. The pool is really nice as well as the grounds. However, the pool was incredibly cold. There was a swim up pool bar... and it was 85 deg F… but the pool was so cold that no one would bother to sit at the swim up bar. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, there are often rip tides at the beach. So, if you want to go in the ocean, don't stay here. Overall… the hotel itself is really nice. Unfortunately… the customer service, the food, nightlife, and location are absolutely terrible. Do yourself a favor. Stay somewhere else.

Nice resort but way too many glitches.

The resort was beautiful, the rooms were nice and most of the staff was very friendly. However, there were way too many problems. We were unable to make reservations to our choice of premium restaurants even though we had the premium upgrade. If you went by the restaurants, though, they weren't even half full. Had to call five times to get our in-room Internet to work. (They also have wi-fi at the resort, but they only give out so many passwords a day and we never did receive a password.) They have beautiful gas fire pits on floating islands, but they refused to turn them on. At the French restaurant, they only had two red wines available for purchase even though the list contained more than 30. Our wine showed up after our food arrived at EVERY meal and appetizers showed up after the main plates at one. The main pool was closed for two days. There's more, but you get the picture. Management needs to pay much more attention to detail. Despite all of the complaints, it was still a fun trip. However, visitors should dramatically lower their expectations from a five-star facility. Expect to eat all of your meals at the buffet and you won't be disappointed. And don't expect the extra services to be available. If you want to hang out at the pool and look at the ocean, you will enjoy this place.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a Mega Mart right across the street, which is exactly like a Wal-Mart. It's open 7 days a week, so if you forget anything, don't panic. You'll be able to buy it.

Not the best experience

The line to check-in was absurd. Our hotel cards would not open our door and we had to go back and stand in line again. The restaurants were impossible to get a reservation for.

NEEDS MAINTENANCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

My deluxe premium master suite was not what I would call premium, A/C in one of the bed rooms did not work, it was 2 days before they were able to fix the issue although I was told several times it was fixed, toilet seat in the master bed was held on with only 1 bolt, sink in the bathroom no water had to use another bath to wash , the suite its self was located over the public restrooms for the pool next to a restaruant so it had a smell all the time, asked to be relocated and was told there were no other suite only to find out later there was some others available, talking to some other guests found that 5 or 6 others had been not given the rooms they had paid for and also felt the lack of customer service , up side were grounds are nice and the resturants were good , can't say I'd go back

Great girls weekend

Amazing service, beautiful rooms - everything was immaculate. The food was better in the a la carte restaurants; the buffets weren't great. Stiff drinks. Other than a lot of drunk grown-ups stumbling around (really loud!) it was a perfect trip.

Loved it

Beautiful resort. Rooms, grounds, pools, bars, restaurant facilities all look brand new and clean. Overall staff is friendly and helpful, with a few exceptions. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food at all the restaurants. Overall we would highly recommend this resort.

Long pants and close toed shoes are required for some restaurants. This is important! We saw several other parties that were denied entry into the speciality restaurants because they lacked this attire and they were not at all pleased. Also, resort is all inclusive, except there is an additional charge for room service and boxed lunches.

Excellent Quality Resort

Beach is not swimmable all year long due to dangerous waves. Reserving restaurants was big problem, 1st they told us we cound not book any during our 5 night stay when resort was less than 50% full, after some arguments we got one and for others we just showed up at the restaurats, which we found were not full and requested to the manager to take us in. They are vert strict about dress code for the restaurants, they will send you back to change. Otherwise, new resort in exceptional condition and state of the art architecture, interior design and hi-tech & classy room. Great quality restaurants and bars.

Bombtastic hotel

We had a great time. Phenomenal new hotel. The a la carte restaurants were shockingly phenomenal. I had done all inclusive a couple times, twice in Puerto Vallarta (even stayed at the Barcelo in PV). The Barcelo Los Cabos was quite impressive all around. The buffet had some hit or miss moments, but on the whole, the food was great. The rooms were ridiculous. Everything was immaculate. The drinks were stiff and the staff was incredibly helpful. I would stay here again.

Eat at the a la carte restaurants. You won't be disappointed. I liked the Japanese place the best. The sushi was quite good, comparable to some Chicago establishments.
