DO NOT GO HERE!

The first night the maid stole my necklace from my room. and the staff werent very helpful and instead replied, "she said she never saw it." next, the hotel booked us a tour and never mentioned we had to know how to drive sitck, which we can't, in order to participate and when we came back to complain their response was, "we told you, but you were drunk so thats probably why you dont remember." in the gym, we saw the hotel staff take towels out of the dirty towel bin, fold it, and put it back with the "clean" towels. The tub in the room was full of grim as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. everything in the hotel was basically tips, since its an all inclusive hotel, but the hotel never had change. If you were able get change from the gift shop, they would exchange the us dollar at 11 per dollar, but the hotel would charge you 13.35 per dollar so they basically short change you. If you have a question or complaint you had to wait on line for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. This was the most stressful vacation I've ever been on. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!

Nightmare at Cabo

Upon arrival and checking in we saw a magnificent hotel and were so excited...until check in time. One thing the staff made clear is that room service was NOT included neither was WI FI BUT what they don't tell you is that you can pay $35. and get free wi fi and club services upstairs which includes a beautiful sitting room, internet, food, etc. They tend to gloss over it and it was never explained in detail, nor was the fact that even if the buffet said it opens at 12:30, and it is 12:45 and they are not open, tough luck if you are going to a scheduled activity. If you arrive late, prepare yourself to go hungry as they close relatively early. We ended up going to the market across the street buying an ice chest and using free wi fi at Starbucks. This all inclusive package is certainly not all inclusive, not only was the room service a shock as it was clearly advertised ALL inclusive, but so was the staff which lacked energy and spirit in interacting with guests. The maids were very kind and did a great job. We had one waiter Martin who we met our third night there, who was absolutely amazing! He had a great personality and we felt if the servers were more like him, this visit could have been fun. There is a dress code in one spot again NOT disclosed so we could dress appropriately, but rather embarrassed as we did not dress correctly and could not get a table, again lack of communication. Spa was awesome, we went there three times. There is NO nightlife at Barcelo and a cab into the clubs will cost about $70 round trip. This is a great place if you eat and go to bed by 8PM but for those of us who at least want to be entertained to 11PMish this was clearly a disappointment. We are not heavy drinkers or big eaters, so for us, drinking all day and night wasn't our idea of vacation. We will never return as this costly trip was a nightmare and all I can say was I was glad when our plane departed.

Bad Hotel experience

Bad location by the ocean, you cannot swim anywhere around hotel. They had a dress code in all restaurants that was not mentioned in their add. Poor administrative service! Everything was closed including bars... Had to repeatedly ask for hygiene items from housekeeping.

Don't stay here

OVERALL PROS: - Rooms are clean and modern - Hotel grounds are very nice OVERALL CONS: - Overpriced - Awful customer service from concierge and front desk - Long lines at check-in / check-out - No nightlife - Food wasn't very good - Long distance (and costly taxi ride) to / from Cabo San Lucas = = = = = = = = = = Overall, I would never recommend anyone stay at Barcelo Los Cabos. The hotel has a nice appearance, but we were quickly frustrated by the customer service. We checked in and the front desk recommended we made reservations for one of the "specialty" restaurants (AKA - all the restaurants except for the buffet or the snack bar). After checking in, we walked directly to the concierge to make reservations. ALL OF THE RESTAURANTS WERE BOOKED THE FIRST TWO NIGHTS (we were only staying four nights)!!! I complained and the concierge LITERALLY shrugged her shoulders and ignored me. The only reservations available for the third and fourth nights were 6pm and 9:30pm. When we returned to the front desk and complained, we received another shoulder shrug. Not a good way to start the trip. The rooms are clean and modern. They have "smart rooms" with everything (lights, alarm, curtains, etc.) controlled from the TV. It's a novelty... but, often, it would freeze up and need to be re-booted. There's internet on your TV, but it's terribly slow (0.11 mbps when tested). If you bring your own computer, plan to pay $20 per day for wi-fi service (so much for all-inclusive!). The food at the buffet was so-so at best. Often it tasted as though it had sat under the heat lamp far too long. I'd fill my plate with food that looked pretty good, come back to my seat, take a bite of everything, push it away, and go back for something else. Repeat… Although they said the hotel was booked, it was completely dead. There was no nightlife as the bars were completely empty in the evening. The theater was embarrassingly empty... performances in a HUGE, albeit nice, theater to about 10 people. Later, when walking by the specialty restaurants, we noticed they were practically empty. All booked, huh? To witness any sort of nightlife or do any sort of activity (snorkeling, sport fishing, etc.), Cabo San Lucas is a 25 minute and $35USD taxi ride away (each way!). Our dinner at the first specialty restaurant (the French one) was pretty good. Everyone was pretty pleased with the service and their meals. It was the only good food we had while staying there. We got room service and the food was inedible. I've never really had a bad quesadilla, but they managed. It was soggy, cold and… even though I was hungry… I couldn't eat it. Oh… and room service isn't included in the ALL-INCLUSIVE deal. Sheesh. The meal at the second specialty restaurant (the steakhouse) was pretty awful. The appetizer tasted like something that was pulled out from under the aforementioned buffet heat lamp again. The soup and salad was served from a buffet… but, since we had the "only" reservation available at 9:30pm, they were actually closing up the buffet when we went to get food. Ugh. Terrible. The pool is really nice as well as the grounds. However, the pool was incredibly cold. There was a swim up pool bar... and it was 85 deg F… but the pool was so cold that no one would bother to sit at the swim up bar. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, there are often rip tides at the beach. So, if you want to go in the ocean, don't stay here. Overall… the hotel itself is really nice. Unfortunately… the customer service, the food, nightlife, and location are absolutely terrible. Do yourself a favor. Stay somewhere else.

Disappointed....Won't return

This was are first and last stay at Barcelo! It started off great and not Barcelos fault but we decided to move additional people over to the hotel which we were upfront about and paid for...and paid for....and paid for! To bad the frontdesk wasn't upfront as we were (see money saving tips below) The frontdesk ran us around for a full day and then $2,300.00 later we were set sort of. Even though we had paid and paid my son was constantly harassed by security and we were always battling security! The breakfast buffet was good any other buffet scary. The french, italian, and japanese restaurants all had decent food and service in all but the french was good. make sure you make reservations for the "real" restaurants before you get there because it's next to impossible to get in and then you will have to eat dreadful buffet for diner. The service at the frontdesk horrible and management was horrible. Forget about getting a drink at the pool unless you want to get it yourself. Pool was freezing hardly anyone would get in. Jacuzzi also cold. The snack bar at the pool closed whenever it wanted without explaination. Don't bother with paying the additional for the "Premium Club" it was worthless. For the price I will try Pamilla or Azul next time. Hotel was pretty and most of the staff was friendly

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Make certain that you include all the extras up front because if you have to add something while you are there THEY WILL ROB YOU! We upgraded to a larger room and we were upfront about why (we had adult children at another hotel - posada real "Total Dump" that we wanted to move over. We were told additional $750.00 and it would be done. Just to bring them to the front desk when they got there to get the wristbands and we would be set. So after spending half of a day looking at rooms and getting everyone moved we went to the frontdesk who then informed us that that would want an additional $128.00 per person, per day....$1536.00!!!!! RIDICULOUS, never mentioned when we paid the $750.00 This on top of the cost of almost $3,000.00 to start for 4 days NOT WORTH IT!!!! Stay elesewhere

One of a kind experience!

I booked a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico to attend a wedding, so the hotel was chosen by the bridal party. On arrival at Barcelo Los Cabos Palace Deluxe we checked in and went to the dining area. We thought it was odd to see the dining area with lighted candles, but thought it was the ambiance. It was a bit difficult to see your food options, but the guests were not complaining. We had requested two double beds in our room when the reservation was made. On arrival at our room we were assigned a king size bed and the room was extremely warm. We returned to the front desk to inquire about our room request and to inform them that the room was hot and the thermostat was not working. We were informed there was no air condition at the hotel. The clerk said a drunk driver ran into an electric pole and they had no power for two days. We asked why this was not explained to us when we checked in, but all we got was an apology that the person who checked us in should have informed us. For our inconvenience of having no air condition, we were given an upgrade to an ocean view room. During the night the heat was unbearable and there was no wind blowing. We had the ceiling fan on and the balcony doors open but it was extremely hot. There was also no hot water to take a shower. This really put a damper on our trip. My roommate’s son was the groom for the wedding. They were assigned a honey moon suite had no electricity, hot water nor air condition that night. This hotel has lots of issues. The following morning I was ready to return home where I know that I had air condition. However, the power was restored. The wedding was on Saturday, August 27, 2011. When we returned to our room we found a note stating the air condition would be turned off that night from 12:00mn to 5:00am for maintenance. Why was maintenance not done previously when the power was off for two days! I was furious because that meant another night of tossing and turning with little sleep. Fortunately, the newly weds appealed to management to defer from shutting the air off during the time when the majority of their guest were in their rooms. They suggested for the comfort of their guest to turn the air off the following morning from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This would give their guest an option of cooling off in the pool. Fortunately they listened to their suggestion. We checked out on August 28, 2011. During the check out process we were offered two free nights to return to the hotel and was asked to sign a waiver stating that we had no further complaints. We told them we were not interested in returning to Barcelo hotel and did not sign the waiver. It would have been beneficial for them to compensate us with a reimbursement for our current stay. They were not willing to do that. I would never stay at this hotel again!

Barcelo in Cabo 2010

This hotel has a very nice facility. Their service is the total opposite: * I was in line over an hour to check into the hotel * After over an hour check-in nightmare, the key they gave me did not work. * We were there for 5 nights. On our 1st day, we were told they're booked for ALL their fine dining reservation for all 5 nights. * They do not serve food at the pool.

Not really family oriented

Nice introduction, nice rooms, pools were not as clean as I would have liked them to be. There were drinks spilled and then just left to look like throw up there-disgusting!!! The pools were not shallow enough for my 4 or soon to be 6 year old to stand so that was a problem. The "childrens water area" was quite a joke...it was behind all of the buildings and away from everyone, even the bar-so even if you wanted a drink you couldn't have had one :( We had to pay to shuttle downtown which would have been a nice already included but what it boils down to is the drinks and food are all included anything else good luck!!! The shows were ok, two of the nights they were good and 2 were kind of like of amateur people from the audience doing silly tricks like you might see on a budget tv show. The kids club was a room where someone could watch your kid-no thanks!!! Not very impressed, maybe just wasn't for me and my family with small kids. Oh yea and the floaties we needed so the kids could swim without drowning were not complimentary to rent either, we had to go next door to the MEGA and purchase them. The mattress pad did not fit the mattress and made it difficult to sleep because it was too small. The stocked bar in your room was a joke, the frig did not stay cold and it included 2 beers, 2 sodas, and 2 waters. Not really what I was thinking....maybe i set my expectations too high!!!

Beautiful Property but Inconsistent Service

This hotel has a beautiful pool area, and the rooms are very modern and clean. The adult pool is an oasis that has furniture on the water. However, if like to swim on the ocean this is not the place for you unless you have a death wish. There were over 30 rescues on the beach just during the first seven days that I was at the hotel. The hotel is also far away from the center of town. The cab ride is $35 each way. I found the service at the hotel to be mediocre at best. The rules for the specialty hotels are unpleasant and difficult to follow. Reservations need to be made for the specialty restaurants, and there is only one employee that can make the reservations from 9am to 1pm. Hotel staff claims that the restaurants are always full, but when you actually go the restaurants we found that they were half empty. When I inquired why I was being told that the restaurants were full when in reality they were half empty, hotel staff informed me that they keep the restaurants half empty to provide better service. My opinion is that service is mediocre at best. It should not take 2.5 hours to eat dinner. One last thing, on our last night, the hotel lost electricity, and while the hotel has a generator, the air conditioning and water heater in the rooms did not work. Also, the toilets and sinks in all public areas did not work. While I understand that it is not the hotel’s fault if there is a power loss, what I cannot understand is being lied to and for staff to act as if nothing is wrong. I kept being told that the power was coming back in two hours, then it was four hours, and finally was told that there was a blackout in the entire city, which was untrue. A situation like this presents an opportunity for a hotel to take care of their customers. The hotel did nothing for us, and as I was leaving, I would see family after family checking in, and I do not believe they were told the extent of the problem. I would never return to this property.
