Christmas at Hamilton Island

  • WesV
  • Jan 2, 2012
Setting of the hotel and particularly the view from our room could not be any better under any circumstances. The whole island was peaceful and idyllic during our stay (despite this being at Christmas time). All staff friendly, courteous and helpful. Food quality excellent although when staying there for a full week as we did, more menu variety would have been nice. Hamilton Island itself is quite expensive, however given the setting, this is understandable. Within this context, the hotel value for money was quite reasonable.

Well, I visited Hamilton Island

  • Anonymous
  • May 13, 2011
Well, I visited Hamilton Island just after the easter break, so it was very quite and I was upgraded to the Reefview Hotel. In the island everything is very expensive. Although it is very small and pretty much everything is in walking distance, they offer golf buggies for rent ($85/day). All staff and some rental buggies run on petrol and make a lot of noise. My room was on the 8th floor, but it was much noisier than my unit in inner Sydney. It sounds like someone always mows the lawn. You always have to watch out on the road because the island is not a "shared" environment; buggies have right of way. It is an excellent way to put on a few extra pounds... I found it pretty pointless and annoying. The marina (where the restaurants are) is less than 10 min walk and connected by a constant bus service. The Palm bungalows are close to the road, so the noise is even louder there.

The hotel went ahead and simply transferred the losts night accommodation over to the next day so we still got we paid for! We were sold a garden view room but the room was on the 4th floor and had ocean views! We were overjoyed! The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The staff were very very good. I would recommend this place to anyone. Loved it :)
