Location superb. Train station to/from Airport is directly under the hotel - no need to walk outside, connected by escalators from hotel lobby. One block away from Queen St. mall. Shop in the City package value is second to none. Great service. Breakfast is fabulous - one of the best I've experienced. Rooms pleasant and comfortable. Decor is a LITTLE dated, but doesn't take away from the overall experience. The best choice for Brisbane 5* accommodation.

My room location was great, I had a great view of the city and river. I found that my room was a perfect size and it was very clean. Only fault I found was I had booked a triple room and had been advised that we had a sofa bed for the third bed - which wasn't the case and we had to share a double bed. also the tv's need an upgrade badly!! Overall though, very pleased and will stay there again.

Nice Hotel
-
Cathy T.
- Mar 19, 2012
The Marriott in Brisbane has much to recommend it. The staff tried very hard to be accommodating and mostly succeeded. The room was stylish and mostly comfortable. The hotel is located one short block from the Riverwalk and its many restaurants as well as the CityCat catamaran that provides public transportation to many places in central Brisbane. The room was dark at night, a feature I like, with minimum light coming in from the edges of the draperies. The shower was great and the bathroom amenities were good.
U.S. visitors new to Australia might want to note that, pretty consistently, the star rating for Australian hotels is one step up from how the same hotel would be rated in the U.S. So, this five-star Aussie hotel would likely be considered four-star in the U.S. That's not bad -- just a realistic assessment.
The few concerns I had about the Marriott Brisbane would not prevent me from staying there again. However, here they are: The bedroom has a shortage of electrical outlets available. (I keep an extension cord in my suitcase, so that was not a problem for me.) The pillows are really wimpy; even after I requested some "firm" pillows, I had to pile up three of them in order to have enough support under my head.
The room was serviced pretty well every day, although I twice had to request additional toilet paper and once had to ask for another bar of soap. In addition, and this may point out one of my pecadillos more than anything else, I noted that EVERY item I had out in the bathroom or on the desk was moved every day by every cleaning person. I don't leave anything of value out, but I do settle into a hotel room, and it struck me as a bit annoying and invasive that my things were rearranged on a daily basis. Nothing was damaged or moved significantly, but everything was moved slightly.
Room service is quick and the items I ordered were good. However, the room service menu is somewhat limited; after a week at the hotel, I was tired of my choices.
One final comment: At check-in, there was quite an aggressive attempt to up-sell me. I was in a standard room with a city view and was offered a room with a river view for $45 more per day or a room with breakfast and unlimited drinks for a "deal" at $95/day (that's a LOT of drinks). I want to feel like I have made a good choice when I check into a hotel, not like I need to spend a lot more to get a good room. Also, these rates seem high.
I will stay at this hotel again when I am in Brisbane. It is not perfect but is much better than any other hotel I have stayed in as a business traveler to Australia.

I was extremely disappointed with the Marriott given the name and reputation I expected alot more.
I went to go for a swim one day out of the entire week I was there and the pool was closed for cleaning and so small - nothing like the picture, the service was ordinary at the restaurant and they did not listen to what I said for my order, they overcharged me for meals, the room needing updating apart from the view it was a very ordinary room. I would even rate the old Novotel as a nicer place to stay. It was a shame I was there for the entire week.

The Novotel Brisbane was great!! The staff were very friendly & happy to do anything to make your stay perfect. Location is only about a 10 minute walk to Queen Street, all down hill, just remember that it's all up hill on the way back!! Buffet breakfast was yum, plenty of variety & healthy options too. The gym is basic but has some good size dumbbells & an incline bench for a quick workout. My husband & I would stay at Novotel again, awesome hotel!!

We stayed here to go to a show at QPAC . We had a River View Apartment which was worth the extra money for the view . We also had breakfast included in our price which was good value . The walk across the William Jolly Bridge was easy from right outside the Park Regis and straight across to QPAC. We would recommend this accommodation and the good deal that we had with Hotel Club.

Overall our stay was good. The first room we checked into reeked of cigarettes when we specified non-smoking, however once I informed reception they moved us into a new room.
There is a bit of a walk from the secure car park through the courtyard where the cafes & restaurants are to get back to the reception, then up the hotel so if you had a lot of luggage it would be a bit of an effort.
Excellent location with lots of cafes and restaurants close by. Short stroll to Ann St.

A busy night so unfair to judge
-
Sean

A busy night so unfair to judge however , when booking a double room that morning it was advised that 2 doubles or a queen would be available but u could not request which .On calling the hotel I requested a queen and was advised that it was allocated. On arrival I was advised no queen was available but i could have 2 doubles or move to a smoking floor. No record of the phone call requesting a queen - yet i spoke with the same girl on the front desk who checked me in. Otherwise a well run and managed hotel .

Would rate hotel as a 3 1/2 star residence. Great location but average rooms, parking terrible, waited in queue on street for 15 minutes for valet parketing, then charged $25 dollars.

Stayed 4 nights in a 'superior'
-
Angela
- Mar 20, 2011
Stayed 4 nights in a 'superior' room. The standard room I had last time was far more superior. No TV in the bedroom this time, cleanliness was average, expected a view or a higher floor for a superior room, unable to open washing machine lid as dryer placed directly on top - who was the idiot that did that? The crockery was all mismatched bits and pieces. Have stayed a couple of times before but probably wouldn't stay again. There are better hotels around for this price. Excellent location though opposite Roma St Transit Centre.

Very good centre for a stay in Brisbane, travel and access was 1st rate. Rooms were clean, well fitted out, but basic in design and comfort level. Staff were helpful when needed, but did not over do the friendliness thing!
