The staff at the Swissotel were exceptional, the location was perfect, I would recommend this hotel to everyone wanting to stay in Sydney. Our room was large althought the view (we were facing east towards the Sydney Tower), was probably a bit of a let down, I would not change my overall opionion of our stay.

Great location (convenient to the Airport Link train) and walking distance to everything else. Very friendly staff (Australians are just friendly). Great bed -- just as advertised-- and wonderful breakfast (try to get a bed and breakfast rate). A little expensive but Sydney is an expensive city. Not sure one could do better anywhere else. I would stay there again.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay immensely. Excellent location. Walking distance to Harbor and Opera House. Loved the elegant decor throughout the hotel. The sitting room off main lobby was so homey and cozy with a lovely wood burning fire place which was lit up in the evening. The marble bathrooms were exquisite and the king size bed so comfy. The rooms were exceptionally large. Plenty or room to relax after a long day of touring. Free internet was also a big plus. If looking for a hotel to stay at in Sidney, Look no further. This is the place for you!

Outstanding value. Reserved this hotel from a deal months prior to the trip and out of the 5 hotels we stayed in New Zealand and Australia this was the best one for the value. Great location and balcony view of the Quay. Rooms were great and plenty of room for 3 Adults and a 2.5 year old. We were on the 9th floor. The beds were very comfortable. I'm very particular with cleanliness and was worried about hotels overseas. As soon as I walked in I felt at home. The staff were great including two our concierges especially Rick. He was able to set up last minute Sydney Bridge climbs and recommends in the area. In the restaurant the staff even gave our daughter a cute little teddy bear. Room service prices are high but comparable to the high prices in Australia. When our DVD player did not work we were comp'ed breakfast for the remainder of our stay. There was a pretty substantial rain storm and our floor had some leakage. We were well informed of the situation and the floor was taken care of in a timely manner. If I'm in Sydney I'd come here again and will definitely recommend.

We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which consisted of a two bedroom apartment which meant that we could walk to the supermarket and buy breakfast items and have it back at the unit. It was fantastic - only negatives was slow lifts and way too many people in the pool area - the pool is fairly small for the amount of guests. We had a fantastic time though and would certainly stay there again

This would rank as one of the very best hotels in which we have stayed in recent years. The service was superb, maintaining an excellent standard of friendliness and a willingness to help with absolutely no suspicion of the supercillious attitudes that can sometimes be encountered at a top class establishment. The food was excellent and we loved the Orient Express décor. The room was very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The Observatory Hotel will become a regular stopping place for us on our frequent visits to Sydney.

One of the best hotels I have stayed at. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The view of the opera house is breathtaking. The only complaint I have is the internet charge ($25/ day) which should be included in the rate for the hotel of this caliber. That said, I still highly recommend this hotel if u plan to be in sydney.

Lovely hotel

  • inexperienced traveler 2
  • Oct 22, 2012
The hotel is lovely and only a 3 or 4 block walk down to Circular Quay. it is in the middle of the business district so there are only a couple of restaurants open on the week-end, but 2 or 3 more open during the week. The concierges were extremely helpful and the accommodations were beautiful.

ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS

The Hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and the room was comfortable and cosey. I think that the only drawbacks were that there was no swimming pool and that the internet charges were UNBELIEVABLY HIGH considering that they get it free and most of the big hotels offer the internet for free to their customers. It was a great location and very, very easy to walk absolutely everywhere. Super!!!

Great location, friendly staff

This hotel might be said by some to be `dated` in decor, but we found it to be unique and not off putting. The location at Kings Cross cant be beat. The staff are friendly and happy to give you advice and help with luggage. It wont knock your socks off, but it wont disappoint, and its an excellent value, unless you want to pay $100 more to be in the financial district.

NIce hotel, impressed but..design flaws

  • TroyS
  • Mar 9, 2012
I really liked this hotel overall. Very cheerful and helpful staff. Hotel well located, everything was just a block or two away, great restaurants, gym, grocery, bars and areas of interest. Hotel is designed, and designer and clean and modern.Loved it. BUT, there were some strange details in the room. Around my flat screen tv, there was an exposed area with all the wires exposed and narly. It was so odd to look at this for 9 nites, wondering how did the designer of the interiors let that happen? why had they let that detail slide? it Baffled me the entire trip. It doesnt help that I work in design, so details are EVERYTHING to me and my eye. So the interior designer gets a FAIL letter F for design which brings my rating down to 4 out of 5 stars. My room was comfy. Quite at nite. Bed was perfect. had free internet which was a surprise. but I guess I paid for it. The hotel is not cheap, but nothing is in Sydney. I was suprised the hotel didnt have a bar and restaurant. That would have made it perfect. There were a lot of interesting people I saw coming in and out and I met one of them at a bar one nite, and I would have liked to have met some of the other guests in the hotel since I was traveling alone. Another con is the apartment building across the street. Full of peepers and if I can see straight into their apartments and see what they are cooking for dinner, they can see my every moment. If you are into it, leave your curtains drawn..very nosy peepers peep... One of my favorite trips ever in my life in the end. Great city. Everyone looked healthy and happy.

Unexpected trip to attend a wedding

  • fifth
  • Jan 20, 2012
We were in Sydney to attend a wedding and had vacationed there 2 prior times. We did not need to do the tourist things (had done them all before), so we were seeking a location close to restaurants and public transportation. This Marriott location served that purpose well. Because of the strong Aussie dollar hotel rates were much more expensive than our previous trips. We had no issues at the hotel. The room was comfortable, a good size and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Bit expensive, but the location

Bit expensive, but the location in Darlinghurst is good. Shame there is no parking available here, we had to park at St Vincent's Hospital which is nearby but charges for parking by the hour.

This was my second time staying

  • May 19, 2010
This was my second time staying at the Medusa. Very nice hotel, I love the blend of modern styling yet the rooms retain a warm cosy feel. Rooms are small and have no full length mirror and that would be my only issue. I love staying in this location. Cool and hip location. Really nice, friendly and helpful staff too. Can't wait to go back.

FANTASTIC

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. They upgraded us to a harbor view without our asking. Our fourth floor room had an excellent view of Darling Harbor and was right over the Sydney Aquarium. The National Maritime Museum was right across the harbor and accessible by footbridge. Food was expensive in Australia.
