The staff was courteous, friendly. The room was quite small, but completely sufficient for the two of us. Very comfortable bed. The windows open fully providing fresh air. If needed, air conditioning was available. It was a great base of operation for our five day Sydney visit which we loved.

located in city center. walking distance to public transportation, shopping, opera, and at least two museums. the wharf (cruises and ferries to zoo and Manly Beach) is also within 10-15 minute walking distance. room size and furnishings were average but clean. good value for price paid.

Room with an amazing view of the darling harbour. Staf was friendly and accomodating. Location was central and easily accessible to major tourist sites and shopping areas. Walkable to the ferry terminal and not too far from the metro train station.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. They upgraded us to a harbor view without our asking. Our fourth floor room had an excellent view of Darling Harbor and was right over the Sydney Aquarium. The National Maritime Museum was right across the harbor and accessible by footbridge. Food was expensive in Australia.

Travelodge Sydney is not a resort. It offers good hotels services - clean rooms, excellent staff. But it has no gym, swimming pool or onsite recreation. What it does have is a excellent location for site seeing all of Sydney at an affordable price - something that is rare in Sydney. The hotel is one block south of Hyde park and has easy access to the Hop on/Hop off bus and the Sydney rail and bus system. We used all of these and found getting around town was a breeze.
The rooms are clean and well maintained. They have sinks, refrigerators and safes - surprising at the price. The staff are very responsive and helpful. We used them for transportation questions, directions and advice on things to see. In every case they were knowledgeable and helpful.
I highly recommend this hotel to the vacationing traveler who is on a budget.

The hotel staff was very friendly and an underground garage was available for parking for an extra fee which wasn't outrageous. The room was comfortable enough and the location was good.

We had a wonderful stay (Nov 19-Nov 25,2011) at the Wyndham Resorts in Sydney. The outstanding asset of this facility is the staff.
Everyone we had contact with was pleasant and helpful. When I made our reservation, I had requested a handicapped room; when we arrived there were none available due to owners' presence (this Wyndham facility seems to be a time-share). The staff took the initiative to locate a shower stool for my husband and it worked very well. In all our travels, both international and in the US, no one has ever made the effort to solve the shower issue so easily.
Staff was very knowledgeable about transportation and tourist attractions.
Location suitable for adults and families with older children.

We have stayed at the hotel twice now. Before our cruise and again on our return and both times found the hotel excellent for our needs. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help when our luggage went missing. The apartments were very clean and roomy. The area was good and very close to Chinatown and the city. World Square monorail station was also nearby. Coles supermarket only 2 blocks away. We won't hesitate to stay there again.

Great location, as we needed to do business nearby. Only disappointment was the small bed as we are used to a king & the pillows very uncomfortable. The league club downstairs has pokies & give discounted drinks if you are staying at the hotel. Certainly would stay again, had a homely feeling.

The staff at the Swissotel were exceptional, the location was perfect, I would recommend this hotel to everyone wanting to stay in Sydney. Our room was large althought the view (we were facing east towards the Sydney Tower), was probably a bit of a let down, I would not change my overall opionion of our stay.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel for being in the middle of everything Sydney. At the same time it is like a sanctuary to come home to at the end of a long day. The staff are soooooo friendly and helpful - really well trained in customer service. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The lobby bar is also a great place to meet up with friends!

A fairly standard four seasons in a great location. Our opera house view room actually had a beautiful view of the landmark, which was a pleasant surprise (one kind of expects these things to be grossly exaggerated!). Staff very courteous and efficient, so no complaints there. Turned out that the swimming pool was going to be closed for renovation, which had not been mentioned at all at the time of booking only a couple of weeks previously - a bit naughty of the hotel. Guests could go over to the Marriott for the pool apparently, but oh come on. Overall very satisfied with the stay otherwise.

Great location. Very close to Town Hall station, easy walking distance to Darling Harbour restaurants, and a few blocks walk to the Pitt Street Mall.

Stay was good as we arrived earlier than our check in time and staff were wonderful and let us check in early.Lovely breakfast,staff friendly.The only downside the bath filled as you had a shower and the water stayed in for quite a while.The ironing board was broken and you had trouble filling the kettle from the tap in the bathroom because it didn't fit underneath the tap.Some pamphlets in the room would be good for sightseeing purposes.Would stay again for the view.

Bit noisy and windows a bit grubby - that's a central location for you - in fact you could see Central Station from our room. Internet not working but they moved us to a new room without hesitation. Overall, very good. Nice roof top pool.

I was concerned about our stay here based on the wide range of reviews it had received on various sites. However, it worked for us - especially with the expensive alternatives for accommodation in Sydney.
We had booked a double en suite for 4 nights, so perhaps that helped with the room quality (as opposed to shared baths). Sure, it was very small, but it was clean and on the third floor we enjoyed the elevator in the building. We didn't feel claustrophobic each evening as we watched TV after a full day in Sydney. As for noise, true, the hotel is right on the train tracks. I can imagine how loud it must be for those staying in rooms on the tracks-side of the hotel. Our room was on the non-tracks side, and we heard the trains, but that only sounded like passing thunder in a thunder storm, so it wasn't bad at all for us. If we didn't get the non-tracks side, then I don't know if I would have appreciated the hotel as much.
The staff was very friendly and helpful with our requests (baggage storage, info, etc). The breakfast each morning was completely suitable - all you can eat, too. They had cereal (5 varieties), toast (2 varieties of bread, peanut butter and 5 types of jam), apple or orange juice, tea or coffee. Fill up on this and you can cruise until lunch with no snacking.
The location is convenient - we read another reviewer's assessment and chose Redfern station, as it was closer than Central station. However, if coming in from the Airport (trains do not go to Redfern), then Central was still fine. Also, near to Redfern is a more blue-collar commercial street with less expensive restaurants, a Post Office, a Woolworths, etc.
If you can get a room on the non-tracks side, then this hotel is a terrific deal for what you get (room, service, etc) and the location.

Clean, secure, friendly small hotel. Very small but well-equipped and well-lighted rooms. Run-down area of town without any nearby restaurants or stores.
Train station into town and to airport one long block away. Rest of transport and some restaurants about three blocks away.
Included continental-type breakfast well presented with plenty of toast, coffee, juice, and cereal selection.
We stayed three days - longer would have been tedious because of location.

A great location as it was only a few minutes walk to Central Railway, Capitol Theatre and Market City for shopping. Highly recommend this Hotel as it was quiet, clean, friendly staff and equipped with cooking facilities. Will stay again next visit to Sydney.

Very nice hotel. Great service. Excellent location for The Rocks dining. Terrific views of the harbour and rooms had plenty of space. Definitely the place to stay when in The Rocks.

great location - less than 10 minutes walk from circular quay station (where you can catch the train from the airport), very helpful and friendly staff, very clean room. excellent shower (both in terms of cleanliness and water pressure!). i rang prior to checking in and asked specifically for a balcony room and actually got one (believe me that doesn't always happen) which i very much appreciated, being a smoker. also, i unknowingly checked out late but didn't have any major hassles about it - just a quick call and no problem. anytime i go to sydney in the future i will be staying at this hotel.

I hesitatedly booked an Executive Studio apartment here for the 3 nights we were in Sydney. I say hesitatedly because I didn't really want to spend the money they required and I couldn't really tell from the google map if my choice of location was a hit or a miss. Well, as soon as we drove down the street and arrived at our destination, I KNEW I made an excellent choice and would not regret the rate (I'm an average working class American who doesn't like to waste money on frivolous ammenities). George street is THE main street in the Rocks/Sydney area and NOTHING was more than a very few minutes' walk from Mantra (The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Opera House). We needed no public transportation to explore - we discovered this after we booked a 48hr hop on hop off city tour bus - I recommend that as well - for a great overview tour of the city and Bondi Beach, but it certainly wasn't necessary staying at the Mantra. The staff was very helpful and friendly - provided all sorts of information and recommendations. The room - oh my, I cannot say enough. They thought of every need possible - 3 of us stayed in the room - spacious; the double bed was comfortable; the rollaway great; awesome bathroom with washing machine and dryer (and detergent); GREAT kitchen - granite counters, maple cabinets, full fridge/freezer, microwave, pots, pans, panini maker, hot pot, wine glasses, bottle opener, forks, knives, dishes, etc, water pitcher. Wow. AND the room service menu was not expensive - especially compared to the States. I just cannot say enough. Thank you very much for the awesome stay - I look forward to finding your brand elsewhere! We stayed in room 1311 - wow - you have to see it.

An appartment hotel with full kitchen for the price of a regular hotel room but more space. International hotel standard. I have stayed here before (years ago) and am pleased to report it is a well maintained facility. There are charge back to room deals with near-by restaurants, and a supermarket within a few mins walk in Wynyard station meaning it is also well accessible by the airport train. And 5mins walk to the harbour ferries, and under 10min to Darling harbour precinct. 2 room suites would suit a family for a Sydney stay. Ideal for business people who want to self cater.

Recommended by my Doctor, it is truly the most centrally located hotel; easy to monorail and train and walking down to Circular Quay. Bed very comfortable, coffee maker could be upgraded, bathroom a little too small, staff absolutely super.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights and the overall experience was very good. The location was superb, while the room was clean and compact. There wasn't much extra room after one accounted for the king bed (which was very comfortable). However, since we were basically only in the room to sleep, it suited our needs perfectly. The desk staff was always friendly and helpful, including recommending a wonderful Thai restaurant.
