Description
Historic exterior with millennial style in Sydney’s business district At first glance it appears the Radisson Plaza Hotel shows her finest side; a grand sandstone exterior dating back to the 1800s was once a bank and newspaper office before becoming a five-star hotel. Yet the interiors of the Radisson Plaza impress anew. Muted layers of wood, glass and stone play on the hotel's historic features. The property caters to business travelers with free Wi-Fi and a multilingual staff ready to tackle any need. Located in the central business district, guests can walk to Hyde Park, the Opera House and public transportation. Highlights Award winning Bilson's RestaurantComplimentary Wi-FiExtensive health club with body treatments   Rooms Cozy guest rooms boast a sunny ambiance with shades of tan, gold and white. Big windows are dressed with thick taupe curtains. The hotel's 336 rooms and 26 suites are furnished with signature beds, a moveable blonde wood desk with ergonomic chair, flat screen TV and a deep tub. All guests enjoy free Wi-Fi access in every room. Features Tony Bilson, creator of Australian cuisine, has won hearts (and awards) from local and international foodies for the fare at Bilson's Restaurant. Stylish diners reserve well in advance for fine French-inspired lunch and dinner. The menu shifts with the season to include items such as cannelloni of Tasmanian ocean trout, celeriac and spanner crab remoulade. For a casual option, the Bistro Fax Restaurant and Bar serves three meals a day. The hotel health club offers an indoor pool, spa, steam room, gymnasium, plus massage and beauty treatment rooms (expect detox wraps, manicures and more).  Indoor parking facilities are available (fees apply). Excellent service. I forgot to put the sign "make up room" and to my surprise when I got back, my room was neatly made up with fresh towels!! The service staff at the hotel restaurant were awesome. Impeccable service. Will definitely go back. Pleasantly surprised with the size of the bathroom! The heated pool and spa was out of my expectations.

Outstanding value. Reserved this hotel from a deal months prior to the trip and out of the 5 hotels we stayed in New Zealand and Australia this was the best one for the value. Great location and balcony view of the Quay. Rooms were great and plenty of room for 3 Adults and a 2.5 year old. We were on the 9th floor. The beds were very comfortable. I'm very particular with cleanliness and was worried about hotels overseas. As soon as I walked in I felt at home. The staff were great including two our concierges especially Rick. He was able to set up last minute Sydney Bridge climbs and recommends in the area. In the restaurant the staff even gave our daughter a cute little teddy bear. Room service prices are high but comparable to the high prices in Australia. When our DVD player did not work we were comp'ed breakfast for the remainder of our stay. There was a pretty substantial rain storm and our floor had some leakage. We were well informed of the situation and the floor was taken care of in a timely manner. If I'm in Sydney I'd come here again and will definitely recommend.

Have stayed here 4 times in past 5 years in both units overlooking Circular Key (and Harbour Bridge) and inside units facing Macquaries St out to Park. Very modern and comfortable units and if you pay more for the water facing units over Circular Key it is a great outlook.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay immensely. Excellent location. Walking distance to Harbor and Opera House. Loved the elegant decor throughout the hotel. The sitting room off main lobby was so homey and cozy with a lovely wood burning fire place which was lit up in the evening. The marble bathrooms were exquisite and the king size bed so comfy. The rooms were exceptionally large. Plenty or room to relax after a long day of touring. Free internet was also a big plus. If looking for a hotel to stay at in Sidney, Look no further. This is the place for you!

This would rank as one of the very best hotels in which we have stayed in recent years. The service was superb, maintaining an excellent standard of friendliness and a willingness to help with absolutely no suspicion of the supercillious attitudes that can sometimes be encountered at a top class establishment. The food was excellent and we loved the Orient Express décor. The room was very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The Observatory Hotel will become a regular stopping place for us on our frequent visits to Sydney.

One of the best hotels I have stayed at. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The view of the opera house is breathtaking. The only complaint I have is the internet charge ($25/ day) which should be included in the rate for the hotel of this caliber. That said, I still highly recommend this hotel if u plan to be in sydney.

great location - less than 10 minutes walk from circular quay station (where you can catch the train from the airport), very helpful and friendly staff, very clean room. excellent shower (both in terms of cleanliness and water pressure!). i rang prior to checking in and asked specifically for a balcony room and actually got one (believe me that doesn't always happen) which i very much appreciated, being a smoker. also, i unknowingly checked out late but didn't have any major hassles about it - just a quick call and no problem. anytime i go to sydney in the future i will be staying at this hotel.

The Hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and the room was comfortable and cosey. I think that the only drawbacks were that there was no swimming pool and that the internet charges were UNBELIEVABLY HIGH considering that they get it free and most of the big hotels offer the internet for free to their customers. It was a great location and very, very easy to walk absolutely everywhere. Super!!!

Wow!

  • Extremely Impressed
  • Nov 7, 2011
I hesitatedly booked an Executive Studio apartment here for the 3 nights we were in Sydney. I say hesitatedly because I didn't really want to spend the money they required and I couldn't really tell from the google map if my choice of location was a hit or a miss. Well, as soon as we drove down the street and arrived at our destination, I KNEW I made an excellent choice and would not regret the rate (I'm an average working class American who doesn't like to waste money on frivolous ammenities). George street is THE main street in the Rocks/Sydney area and NOTHING was more than a very few minutes' walk from Mantra (The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Opera House). We needed no public transportation to explore - we discovered this after we booked a 48hr hop on hop off city tour bus - I recommend that as well - for a great overview tour of the city and Bondi Beach, but it certainly wasn't necessary staying at the Mantra. The staff was very helpful and friendly - provided all sorts of information and recommendations. The room - oh my, I cannot say enough. They thought of every need possible - 3 of us stayed in the room - spacious; the double bed was comfortable; the rollaway great; awesome bathroom with washing machine and dryer (and detergent); GREAT kitchen - granite counters, maple cabinets, full fridge/freezer, microwave, pots, pans, panini maker, hot pot, wine glasses, bottle opener, forks, knives, dishes, etc, water pitcher. Wow. AND the room service menu was not expensive - especially compared to the States. I just cannot say enough. Thank you very much for the awesome stay - I look forward to finding your brand elsewhere! We stayed in room 1311 - wow - you have to see it.

An appartment hotel with full

  • Neil
  • Jun 26, 2011
An appartment hotel with full kitchen for the price of a regular hotel room but more space. International hotel standard. I have stayed here before (years ago) and am pleased to report it is a well maintained facility. There are charge back to room deals with near-by restaurants, and a supermarket within a few mins walk in Wynyard station meaning it is also well accessible by the airport train. And 5mins walk to the harbour ferries, and under 10min to Darling harbour precinct. 2 room suites would suit a family for a Sydney stay. Ideal for business people who want to self cater.

We wanted to be in the heart of The Rocks so that we could walk to all the major attractions - Opera House, Harbour Bridge, etc. But we didn't want to pay the extreme prices of the big hotels. So we booked Harbour Rocks and would absolutely recommend it and come back. Small room, but perfect for the two of us as we were only there to sleep and shower! Location couldn't be easier.

This Holiday Inn was better than others I have stayed in. The rooftop pool with the view of the Opera House, downtown skyline, and Harbor Bridge is unbeatable. The front desk was helpful and friendly. I considered eating at the bar one night when I was a little too tired to go out. Reconsidered when she told me the burgers were pre-cooked patties. Also, no exercise room but then again this does not seem to be a popular concept in Australian hotels as it is in America. Room was clean and comfortable and the Rocks is a neat location- close to lots of attractions.

quick trip to sydney

  • Ash29
  • Feb 27, 2012
i was in sydney for only a few days, never been before, so i wanted somewhere close to the main attractions of the city. the hotel itself is in a business district, but it's all within alking distance to the main sights, like the opera house and darling harbor. the room was a little small but perfect for a single traveller, the bathroom was a little awkwardly placed but not a big issue. the room was very clean. i didn't go to the pool or any of the bars or restaurants. the staff was very helpful when i needed to get train timetables. there is free internet in the lobby for 30 min and the price in your room is very high, but this seems very typical for australia.

Although Hotel Club sent me an email confirming my booking, when I got to the City Lodge Hotel, they had not received my booking. When they rang the people at Hotel Club, the Hotel Club people hang up on them and offered absolutely no assistance to me, the cutomer who had booked through them! Instead, City Lodge Hotel helped me.

A fairly standard four seasons in a great location. Our opera house view room actually had a beautiful view of the landmark, which was a pleasant surprise (one kind of expects these things to be grossly exaggerated!). Staff very courteous and efficient, so no complaints there. Turned out that the swimming pool was going to be closed for renovation, which had not been mentioned at all at the time of booking only a couple of weeks previously - a bit naughty of the hotel. Guests could go over to the Marriott for the pool apparently, but oh come on. Overall very satisfied with the stay otherwise.

The Lounge chair in our appartment was worn out (actually it was broken) and needs immediate replacement. We had to ask for kitchen cleaning materials as none were available in the appartment. The general cleaning leaves a lot to be desired.

Kchen-Utensilien waren allesamt unsauber, stickige Luft, Ausstattung teilweise kaputt oder nicht vorhanden (Dusch-Kabinentr, Fn, etc). Lage ist sehr gut, Personal war freundlich. Die Gerumigkeit hat einiges ausgeglichen. Fr zwei Nchte ausreichend. Haben aber lieber auerhalb gegessen, statt die Kche zu benutzen.

Great boutique hotel and location

Great boutique hotel and location couldn't be better. Rooms were large and recently undergoing refurb. Don't take a room facing George Street unless you are a great sleeper because the noise is there until well into the AM hours. Good deals through Hotel Club but otherwise expensive.
