The staff at the Swissotel were exceptional, the location was perfect, I would recommend this hotel to everyone wanting to stay in Sydney. Our room was large althought the view (we were facing east towards the Sydney Tower), was probably a bit of a let down, I would not change my overall opionion of our stay.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel for being in the middle of everything Sydney. At the same time it is like a sanctuary to come home to at the end of a long day. The staff are soooooo friendly and helpful - really well trained in customer service. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The lobby bar is also a great place to meet up with friends!

Simply the Best in Sydney

  • Brubro
  • Mar 14, 2012
Simply the best hotel we stayed in out of the seven places we stayed during our 3-week Australian holiday. Significantly better experience than we had (a week prior) at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel down the block, and I'd have no reservation recommending that place too...but the Westin was better. We got upgraded to their Heritage room, and the room had everything. Great fitness center. Great location. Loved this place....we'll be coming back.

Great location, as we needed to do business nearby. Only disappointment was the small bed as we are used to a king & the pillows very uncomfortable. The league club downstairs has pokies & give discounted drinks if you are staying at the hotel. Certainly would stay again, had a homely feeling.

Cambridge Hotel is in a GREAT location...just off Oxford Street. The room was ok but had no chest of drawers! It had a small hanging closet but no place for anything folded. Also, while I was there the power went off in the building for about 8 hours. ONLY in the hotel. They had some electrical problem. The elevators were still working but nothing else...not even the front desk power.

Stay was good as we arrived earlier than our check in time and staff were wonderful and let us check in early.Lovely breakfast, staff friendly. The only downside the bath filled as you had a shower and the water stayed in for quite a while. The ironing board was broken and you had trouble filling the kettle from the tap in the bathroom because it didn't fit underneath the tap. Some pamphlets in the room would be good for sightseeing purposes.Would stay again for the view.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. They upgraded us to a harbor view without our asking. Our fourth floor room had an excellent view of Darling Harbor and was right over the Sydney Aquarium. The National Maritime Museum was right across the harbor and accessible by footbridge. Food was expensive in Australia.

Business basic, good location

  • Dchap96418

Travelodge Sydney is not a resort. It offers good hotels services - clean rooms, excellent staff. But it has no gym, swimming pool or onsite recreation. What it does have is a excellent location for site seeing all of Sydney at an affordable price - something that is rare in Sydney. The hotel is one block south of Hyde park and has easy access to the Hop on/Hop off bus and the Sydney rail and bus system. We used all of these and found getting around town was a breeze. The rooms are clean and well maintained. They have sinks, refrigerators and safes - surprising at the price. The staff are very responsive and helpful. We used them for transportation questions, directions and advice on things to see. In every case they were knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel to the vacationing traveler who is on a budget.

Unexpected trip to attend a wedding

  • fifth
  • Jan 20, 2012
We were in Sydney to attend a wedding and had vacationed there 2 prior times. We did not need to do the tourist things (had done them all before), so we were seeking a location close to restaurants and public transportation. This Marriott location served that purpose well. Because of the strong Aussie dollar hotel rates were much more expensive than our previous trips. We had no issues at the hotel. The room was comfortable, a good size and the staff was friendly and helpful.

  • Jun 24, 2011
The hotel is a lot cleaner than the Great Southern Hotel I stayed at a few days earlier. The front desk staff was cheerful and helpful. The hotel didn't charge a fee to store my suitcase for 3 hours after check-out while I shopped before being picked up by the airport shuttle.

The hotel is located right in the city easy to walk to most places from there. But the rooms ARE small, no space for 2 normal bags ( and ours were rather small), not even a space to put your clothes .. a hook or 2 on the wall would help, bedding is average and my husband had to sleep on the floor. I asked to be upgraded to a somewhat larger room ( which was done willingly) but I had to pay an extra 20$ so that we could both sleep in bed! all in all a pricey hotel for the comfort it provides. The staff are helpful and willing to help.

Great week in Sydney

  • Twenty foot
  • Dec 31, 2011
We had a wonderful stay (Nov 19-Nov 25,2011) at the Wyndham Resorts in Sydney. The outstanding asset of this facility is the staff. Everyone we had contact with was pleasant and helpful. When I made our reservation, I had requested a handicapped room; when we arrived there were none available due to owners' presence (this Wyndham facility seems to be a time-share). The staff took the initiative to locate a shower stool for my husband and it worked very well. In all our travels, both international and in the US, no one has ever made the effort to solve the shower issue so easily. Staff was very knowledgeable about transportation and tourist attractions. Location suitable for adults and families with older children.

We have stayed at the hotel twice now. Before our cruise and again on our return and both times found the hotel excellent for our needs. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help when our luggage went missing. The apartments were very clean and roomy. The area was good and very close to Chinatown and the city. World Square monorail station was also nearby. Coles supermarket only 2 blocks away. We won't hesitate to stay there again.

We found this hotel to be very comfortable, and located close to everything! We were within walking distance of the central shopping district, Chinatown, the Quay and the Royal Gardens as well as the Central station. The Hop on- Hop off bus pickup location was within 3-4 blocks. The hotel staff was enthusiastic, knowledgable, and had good suggestions. The only negative about the hotel is that the outside sound and sound from the hall traveled into the room very clearly. Earplugs are a must if you want a good night's sleep. Beds were very comfortalbe.

I stayed in the standard studio with one queen bed. The room was very clean, and very spacious - so was the bathroom. Lots of space. Large balcony. Very comfortable and clean bed. I used the television which was great. The location is amazing, considering the hotel is so close to everything, but also very quiet. I didn't hear a thing all night. I would stay there again.

As expensive as Sydney is, we found a very clean and nice hotel at $155 per night. It's very well located and close to a free bus stop than can take you to other great places. It's highly recommendable.

This was my second stay here so I must have liked it the first time around. The shared restroom was never an issue and the room was clean. The bed was not very comfortable but for the price, I'm not complaining. Located on the corner of Wentworth and Liverpool Streets, the location is perfect. Near the Museum train station so convenient access to/from the airport as well as everywhere else the subways can get you. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
