the spa was great but thats about all

The food literally stunk.. like as in a retirement home. We went into red hook for meals all the time. I would not do the all inclusive unless you can eat your weight in food. Some of the staff was nice but not overwhelmingly friendly. Amanda in the spa was wonderful!!! A lot of the hotel is in disrepair..

Good family resort in St. Thomas

The best thing was the welcoming and happy staff everyday treating you like a friend. The location is good, the beach of the hotel was a bit rocky for us, so we had to go to another beach near by to find that white sandy beaches. The room was good, the only thing it was missing was a microwave. The beds were quite old though and for a couple with a child two doubles was pretty small and uncomfortable. The hotel has some nice views and facilities, average food, nothing special. Overall, it was great place for a family if you don't just stay in all day, but go explore other places on the island.

Very nice stay don't let the bad review's scare you!

Room was clean, staff was very friendly-outstanding beach and pool area-bar workers are very nice The food was a bit ordinary but I'm a foodie! so always looking to be wowed by the food. I would stay again-the new sushi restaurant looks to be a nice upgrade. Looking forward to return visit next year.

Beautiful Escape in March 2014

This resort is located on the Eastern end of the island where there are many beautiful beaches and lovely views of the ocean as well. The lobby is a grand display of Southern charm with blues and whites, comfortable chairs to lounge in, with many ceiling fans and air conditioning to keep you comfortable. There are several high class restaurants located at the rear of the lobby, as well as a smaller restaurant poolside for a leisurely lunch. After checking in, someone will transport you and your luggage to your room in a golf cart. There are three pools, one for adults with a waterfall for a quick cool off and a poolside bar for many creative cool liquid libations. The children's pool is actually rather large and within easy view of parents and staff, but there are no lifeguards. The hot tub is very warm and soothing, but the seating area and floor of the tub are very rough on the skin, so move around slowly while soothing aching body parts. The beach is maintained nicely, but there is only one hammock. Make sure you try out the hook and loop game attached to the trees, it's very challenging but fun. The beach chairs have nicely padded blue cushions for comfort while you relax. The snorkeling is exceptional right off of the beach, but make sure that you wear water proof sunscreen or a swim shirt and know your physical limits as it can be tiring. Also, make sure that you go with a swim buddy for safety reasons. The open air pickup style truck used as the resort shuttle transports you from lower parking lot and pool area every 10 minutes. Just outside of the lobby, there is a taxi board with rates/cost of how much it should cost you to travel to different parts of the island. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The balcony has two chairs and a table to look out onto the bay or ocean. My room looked across to Coki Beach. The bathroom area has a separate sink next to the closet and there is a large safe and large refrigerator. The coffeemaker is not the standard "Keurig" style, rather it takes up to two small filter packets which is provided with Puerto Rican blend coffee. The coffeemaker doesn't make two even cups of coffee. A few negatives about the resort - Housekeeping You must request bottled water to be replenished every day from the housekeeping staff. Otherwise call the front desk and someone will bring it to you. The housekeeping staff that serviced the area near my room were very loud - raised voices whether talking to one another or talking to someone on their cell phones. One housekeeper turned on the TV very loud in the adjacent room, as I was trying to sleep in, it wasn't restful at all. Pool area The "99 stairs of death" that you walk down to the pool area, but also must walk back up to return to your room. It may be fun the first day, but after a long day at the pool or beach area, it's a real strain on the legs and lungs trudging back up to your room. Not for the faint-hearted or if you are out of shape. If you fall in the latter category, wait for the shuttle. You wouldn't want to spoil your vacation with a trip to the emergency room would you? Lobby There are two computers in the "business center", but the charge is 50 cents per minute (10 minute minimum) and extra charge to print each page (paid by credit card). There is a complimentary service to print out your boarding pass. But, if the printer runs out of toner or paper, even after asking the front desk staff for assistance, prepare for a long wait or just go to the airport to avoid the hassle.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

XO Bistro is a wine bar that also serves up delicious salads and entrees with a friendly staff. Duffy's Love Shack is located in the same parking lot. This bar is a lot of fun with a great mix of music via a DJ and friendly bartenders/wait staff. Tables are actually located in the parking lot. If you want to have fun dancing and enjoying a few drinks, this is the place to go!

I would stay a second and third time!

The weather was just to die for! The rooms are very big and every room has an amazing view bc of the way the hotel was made! The pool area can be shady at times due to the fact it sits around a "grove like area" ...also you can't see any sunsets bc of the way the "mounds" work but that's okay just hop a cab to my favorite secret place only a couple minutes down the road Secret Harbor... My favorite beach bar and favorite resturant Sunset Grille... So yummy! They have happy hour 3-7pm everyday! All white sand beach right there and a great dive shop! The staff at Sugar Bay was great! They will accommodate you and your needs. Very helpful! The all-inclusive is nice but it prohibits you from jumping around and experiencing the island! Red Hook is only a couple minutes away for great little night life town...and last but not least I enjoyed Sugar Bays food...for a resort they do a pretty good job with the food! But I recommend eating lunch at Fish Tails once and eating dinner at Sunset Grille... Oh and save a day to visit Meghans Bay!! It is top ten in the world for a reason! Amazing!!

Fish Tails at Red hook for lunch...the shrimp is amazing!!! Sunset Grille at Secret Harbor...the sunset is amazing, the happy hour at the beach bar at Secret Harbor is the way to go...enjoy happy hour prices on rum and beer...and stick around for a sunset! You can swim and snorkel at this beach! Or just lay out and catch good sun! Remember to bring a camera! Great pics from this location!

Go somewhere else spend a little more

Personally I do not enjoy a room that is very musty smelling in which my sinuses lock up instantly when I enter the room. Also there is only a sheet no comforter, they do not replenish the soaps and shampoo during your stay. there are no activities other than drinking the cheapest booze in the world if you do the all inclusive, the food is not very good in fact you cant get anything after 10 pm even if your coming in late from fishing or shopping not even chips. the pool area was not clean and the pool water had a dingy film on top of it. and don't bother asking the front desk for anything like a asprin because you will not get one and the on site shop was out. great place if you are on spring break and don't care but im glad I did not have my family w me. Wyndham pulled their name for a reason. service and quality.

Mother daughter getaway

I booked this and assumed I was getting the all inclusive package as the "features" states it's an all inclusive resort and nothing is needed but bathing suits and all food, beverages & alcohol was included. Even though that's what was stated in description I only received a room only package. The description is very misleading. Be careful. It cost me another $500 at hotel to upgrade to all inclusive. Very disappointing as we only stayed 3 nights. The hotel is kept nice and its very cheerful. We had an amazing beachfront room in building D. The view was perfect. The room was very nice and clean. In addition to the bathroom (roomy shower & strong water pressure!) there was also another area outside the bathroom with another sink & dressing area. I thought this was so convenient. The staff was nice but They need to inform guests better regarding the amenities and rules. I did not get a towel card at check in like i was supposed to so I had a bit of a hard time getting towels by the pool. We also didnt get a welcome pack as other guests received. It seemed the gentlemen who checked us in assumed we were there before as he seemed surprised, maybe a little annoyed when I asked questions about the property. The pool/beach area is a distance from the rooms and its all down hill but they offer shuttle buses to take you if you didn't want to trek several deep stairs or a steep hill to reach it. The gym was great; free weights, state of the art cardio & nautilus machines to choose from. They had a nice show one evening by the pool. It does lack food variety. The food we had was good, just limited choices. A new hibachi/sushi restaurant opened for the first time and we were one of the first guests. The breakfast was very good & had an omelette station. They need to keep the yogurts on ice as they were always warm. The one thing that was odd was by the pool they have a sit down outdoor restaurant with the same 6 choices daily & a salad bar. But if you wanted a small snack or something there was no nothing, only the restaurant. They have a cafe, but its a hike to get there from pool and its not included in the all inclusive. I was surprised the Italian restaurant Baci didn't have coffee and dessert on the menu which was fine with us as we were watching our calories. The beach was very nice. It wasn't big but never felt crowded. No need to reserve beach chairs early in the morning as they have plenty. Bring water shoes as its very rocky when going into the water. Great for snorkeling too if you want to bring your snorkel gear. The bars were good, descent liquor choices. Not top shelf but good enough. All in all I would come back with my daughter but not my husband and son as they would not be happy with the lack of food choices.

Vacay overdue

I hadn't been on a vacay for several years . I randomly chose sugar bay. What a great choice. I had a beautiful view that I woke up to every day. The room was well attended to by housekeeping .The food was great and you have a beautiful view from the main dining room The resort is large but you can call for a drop off or pickup by the on site shuttle . The pool and beach was accessible by foot or staff driven cart. The staff at the spa was nice also. It was hard to leave. I'll be back as soon as possible
