Overview

Located on popular Lindbergh Beach, the Island Beachcomber Hotel provides a casual, cozy home-away-from-home for visitors to St. Thomas. Don't waste time traveling from the airport to this island getaway -- the hotel is just minutes from Cyril E. King Airport. Keep active with watersports like diving, kayaking and parasailing, or be content to do nothing at all. Surrounded by a lush garden with numerous tropical plants, the Island Beachcomber Hotel also features an open-air, beachfront bar and restaurant.

Dining

The Beach Bar and Grill at the Island Beachcomber Hotel serves breakfast and lunch in an open-air beachfront setting. Like the hotel itself, it isn't fancy -- think burgers, sandwiches and salads -- but it's good. No visit is complete without a St. Thomas Sunset, made with Cruzan guava rum, orange juice and cranberry. For something different, venture into Charlotte Amalie and try casual, fun-loving hot spots like the Big Kahuna Rum Shack, Giggling Gecko Grill & Bar, Fat Turtle and Tickles Dockside Pub.

Rooms

Exterior-access double and king rooms at the Island Beachcomber Hotel feature balconies or patios, air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable TV and refrigerators. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access helps guests stay in touch with home. Complimentary beach lounge chairs are also provided. Cribs and rollaway beds available (fees apply).

Property features

The rumors are true: life is just plain better on St. Thomas. With blue skies, swaying palms, perfect Caribbean waters and a laid-back island approach to life, what more evidence is needed? Spend your time in paradise lying on white-sand beaches and soaking up the sun. For a little more action, ask the staff of the Island Beachcomber Hotel to set you up with diving, horseback riding or parasailing adventures. Shoppers spend long afternoons in the shops and open-air bazaars of nearby Charlotte Amalie.

Great location and beach

Would recommend Tue, Dec 8, 2015
Our stay was fantastic. Rooms are quaint and small but comfortable. We had a beachfront with king bed and the other couple had garden view with two double beds. Fabulous little restaurant and great beachfront bar. Very quiet beach except on our last day, Magen's beach was closed and taxis brought people to our beach which then became very crowded. The only problem we had was one night when it rained, the hotel entrance road was flooded but we were able to drive through it. Also, the only wi-fi is at the bar. Very near to the airport (runway is across the street) but no planes at night. Very friendly staff who let us check out later (12:30 rather than 11:00) as our flight was later! Car rental or taxi would be necessary to go into town.

Older hotel, but clean and quaint. Nice beach to relax, and a quiet beach bar too. Great lay over hotel. near Airport.

Couples trip

Would recommend Wed, Sep 30, 2015
Hotel staff, especially Patrick and Marga were exceptional and knowledgeable . Patrick greeted us the minute we got out of our taxi , checked us in, turned the fryer back on to cook us food being we arrived late. He made excellent food for us and treated me like a king on my birthday. Everyone was really friendly , and I really enjoyed the simplicity of this hotel. Yes it is older , and you must take safari buses,or friendly taxi drivers (Michael was great!) But is is beautiful where it is located, the small staff is great, and you can't beat the bang for you buck.

Best location for airport and UVI!

Would recommend Fri, Aug 21, 2015
Just spent four nights at Island Beachcomber while enrolling my daughter at the University of the Virgin Islands. We were completely satisfied with our stay and will definitely return. Island Beachcomber is not the luxury resort many people expect when staying in St. Thomas, but at the same time, we felt it did not deserve the criticism found in other reviews of this place. Our experience was that it is a laid-back beachfront motel with a good restaurant and friendly beach bar that costs half the price of the Emerald Beach Resort next door which offers the exact same thing (we know because we stayed there last time). The staff was attentive and welcoming in all departments. The room was not fancy but at the same time it was as clean as an older motel room could be. Our only criticisms were that the WiFi router at the bar was really spotty, the air conditioner leaked into the closet underneath so our clothes got wet, and the shower curtain in the handicapped stall was raised too high to be effective in keeping the bathroom floor dry -- nothing out of the ordinary on an island. But you cannot beat the location of this place with its combination of proximity to the beach, airport and university all at the same time. We will definitely choose the Island Beachcomber for all our future trips to St. Thomas!

It is not a bad option if you want to stay close to the airport. The rooms amenities are poor.

Great value for the money.

The Hotel's location is great. A few steps off the airport and it is on a beautiful beach. The friendly staff makes you feel like you are at a friend's house more than a hotel, we loved it! The Hotel has the laid back atmosphere of the island. The room was kept very clean. The decor was a bit out dated but it was comfortable. Luscious garden with a few seating areas, make sure to apply bug repellent after sunset hours.

Good place to sleep near the beach and airport

Would recommend Mon, Jan 5, 2015
We we´re flying out on newyearsday after a two week islandhoppping trip in the USVI and BVI. We really liked the hotel locationwise, on the beach and near the airport. With that we had a nice room and were able to walk to our eraly afternoon flight after some swimming and snorkeling in the morning. Recommendable!

Time saver

Beach within a minute and airport within 15 if you walk!

Ghetto...

Would not recommend Tue, Oct 28, 2014
This place was terrible. Two years we stayed here, and it has gone down hill in just a year. Wait staff, like the bar and restaurant..(if you can call it one, it is mainly bar food), are classless, and bring in the local rif-raft as customers. On an occasion, one night there, my family member walked into a screaming and yelling woman, with vulgarities and all. She was removed from the property. (Just don't feel safe being on this property at all.) It was just a terrible experience in the USVI that I have ever encountered, and I go yearly. Also, the room was very dirty, where, I did receive many many bed-bug bites, as this place is infested with them. Was seriously thinking about call the Island's Dept. of Health. I have so much more to say about this property, and unfortunately, it's all negative. I spoke with one of your representatives about this property, and they were appreciative. Please remove.
