Nice B & B

We stayed there on 2/13 and then again on 2/22. The 1st room was so so and the 2nd one was very nice (#104). The owner was friendly. The staff of Calvin and Gale were excellent! Gale made a wonderful order off the menu breakfast that was cooked perfect. We even purchased some of her hand made jewlery. The pool was refreshing and clean both days. Would recommend! J & C

The locals hotspot is the Shipwreck restaurant, it hosts the island's best burgers and drinks.

An unexpected treasure!

As a single female traveler on a budget, this hotel exceeded all my expectations! Very charming, impeccably clean. Super accommodating staff. Nice basic breakfast and small but pleasant pool to sit and read by. Right in the downtown with great views, but yes you must walk up a lot of steps! Easy to get taxis to fab beaches. Over my 4 day stay, I especially enjoyed the steady stream of like minded friendly happy travelers to chat with, share stories, and join an impromptu sing along.

Galleon

I was only staying overnight to catch a plane the next day so I didn't get to see the entire hotel. It seems very quaint and quite beautiful from what I did see. It's approx 3.5 miles to the airport (25$ taxi ride if you have to go early in the morning! Ugh!#. Was also a 15$ ride from the ferry coming in. So you can add that to your overall price if you are not renting a car. It was clean. I did have a can of raid provided in my room which made me a little nervous but I did not see any critters. The room was ok. Nothing too special, pretty basic - beds, bathroom and tv. The people at the front desk were very very nice. Very friendly and welcoming. I walked down the street at night to get food. Seemed safe enough as long as you stay in the direction of the water. I would highly recommend it as a less expensive option #compared to the St Thomas hotels) especially if you are just staying a night or two. I wasn't there long enough to recommend it for a vacation stay. Seems like it would be nice for that as well as long as you don't mind not being too near to a beach. Taxi's are over priced though so you may not want to rely on them for much. I would stay there again - comfortable enough, better priced and very very nice people.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are 3 or 4 little restaurants a short walk from the hotel. I ate at the rum shack. Food was mediocre. Just wanted something quick tho. It is the only place I ate since I was just there overnight.

One-night stay before departure from St. Thomas

We stayed here initially because of convenience and price, since it was just an overnight stay after a week of sailing, but what a surprise! A great, quaint, and clean Bed and Breakfast on St. Thomas! We loved it! Location was good, overlooking the downtown and docks of the harbour. The staff (owners) were SO helpful and personable! They seemed like old friends. The only thing was the number of steps up to the bed and breakfast. On a hot day, carrying up suitcases was a little demanding, but we made it and all was well. (We aren't "spring chickens" either) :) The air conditioning in the room worked GREAT, better than many large hotels! The room and bathroom were very clean. (A nice change from some places we have stayed on the island)! Breakfast was great, and again, the owners were very accommodating. If you needed something, they tried their best to get it for you. We travel to St. Thomas several times a year and love it. We would definitely stay here again for either an overnight or longer stay. Wonderful change from the larger hotels. Great stay for the money! We would recommend The Galleon House Bed and Breakfast to any and everyone looking for a nice change from "stuffy" hotels. Try it out; we think you will like it!

Good for a few nights stay, friendly and central

Everyone is super friendly including owner and staff. You feel safe since they lock their gates after hours. Breakfast is nice. Rooms are simple, but feels clean. Beds are fine, air condintioning a little loud, but I'm not use to wall built-ins. Lots of steps to get to room, so be aware. American transplants to the island give great information, staff gave great ideas for food/beaches. "Safari" the locals bus are cheep to get you around, just have to ask so you know how it runs and payment. This part of downtown seems to be closed after 6pm-

One night in St Thomas

We only stayed in the Galleon House one night as we were headed to a week on St John. Good location, reasonably priced. Staff was very helpful and facilities were adequate and clean. Breakfast was very good. Lots of steps to take getting there, so be prepared! Great view of the harbor once you get there.
