Wonderful experience !
Our stay at the Palms in St, Croix was a fantastic vacation. Our room faced the water and the natural beauty was awesome. Do to trade winds very comfortable temperature even in July. We spent a good deal of time sitting in lounge chairs looking at the water. The staff was extremely friendly @ helpful. The on site bar was great with live entertainment 3 nights. I would rate on site snorkling a B do to wave action. We did the snorkle trip to Buck Island @ a ATV ride in the rain forest. Great fun ! A trip to point Udall and hike to Issac Cove a must. fun restaurants were Rhythms, Off the Wall, Rum Runners, Breezes, @ Angry Nates. We enjoyed St. Croix more than a previous trip to St. Thomas. Rent a car to get around.

Location: Perfect Workers: Perfect Room:Perfect Weather:Perfect Taxi's drivers: Only one overcharged us by $5.00 the rest were more like tour guides, you just have to ask/talk with them. Food and The Palms: Best on island no need to eat else where. Entertainment at Palms during dinner: First night single singer, second night band with steel drums, third night single singer. All very appropriate and good...not too loud, good clean music. FREE stuff: Snorking gear with trips by owner, beach chairs and towels, rum/cola in room with ice when your arrive and fresh flowers. Atmosphere:Quite, peaceful, 34 newly remodeled awesome rooms with private balcony, we saw other quest but never heard them.

Everyone is on "island time" so call/visit the front desk and ask for a taxi to arrive at a certain time...or you will be waiting about 20 minutes for one....same with food check...unless you can adjust to island time..We were there only 4 days and I was still on "hurry hurry time".

Perfect Balance
The Palms was the ideal place for us. If you are looking for a 5-star resort to just sit by the pool/beach all day, this is probably not your place (and St. Croix is probably not the best island for you). The hotel is older but has been renovated. At the Palms, every room has water views, even the garden-view rooms (which we had - 1st floor, see the water through the palms, walk off our patio to the beach). We got to wake up to the sound of the surf, the staff was extremely friendly and provided tons of local knowledge, the room was comfortable, and they have a great restaurant/bar on site to get a good meal/nightcap after being out exploring the island. We will definitely stay there again.

If you are going to Buck Island, go with Capt Heinz at Buck Island Charters. Sails out of Green Cay Marina on a beautiful boat with plenty of room for the group he takes out. People packed in on the Big Beard boats gave us envious looks as Capt Heinz sailed us to the island ... and Capt Heinz doesn't cost any more than Big Beards.

Epiotme of Carribean Getaway
Arriving at the Palms was not how we had expected, with delays in our flight, pouring rain and expensive cab ride, all we wanted to do was sit on the beach but that couldn't happen. Instead we tried out their perfect, covered, outside bar with the best drinks; which we would find ourselves at ALOT throughout our vacation. The room was bigger than expected and although specified as 'Garden View', we had perfect views of the Ocean. Rooms have very nice baths, and mini-decks with seating for 2. Food was better than average but again, drinks (made by Tommy) were the best around. Beach -- perfect!!; Private with both snorkeling and swimming areas MUST RENT A CAR -- we rented a car the 3rd of 5 days on the island and wish we had it the entire time. Considering its close proximity to downtown Christiansted it is worth every dollar. Cabs stop at 6 so any form of activity is needed with a car. Summary: Great Location; Top-notch staff; Perfect Beach BUT avoid this entire area in the middle/late summer months (weather is unpredictable.)

Nice, clean, friendly
Staff at the Palms is very friendly and easygoing. My AC broke and even though they didn't have staff available to fix it, they offered to let me sleep in the room next door to be comfortable. And when the front desk was closed at night, security helped me get something I needed from behind the desk. It's conveniently located about 10 mins from downtown. The restaurant did the trick for simple breakfasts. Rooms were simple and clean--the towels smelled great. And I had an amazing balcony and gorgeous ocean views. Good experience for an independent hotel in the islands.

The
Went for "island" vacation. The Palms is not the Ritz Carlton but we didn't go for that. The food was excellent, the owner ([...]) personally took me snorkeling, the island is beautiful and the Palms has captured that special "limin" atmosphere we were looking for.Only two items were not the best and only minor concern...as they drive on the left and we were not comfortable renting a car, given the narrow dark streets, we had to use the somewhat pricy taxi service ($60 roundtrip + tip to go to casino)to get around the island and the staff/"locals" were allowed to frequent the tiki style bar with the resort guests. We throughly enjoyed our vacation and would highly recommed The Palms...it has everything we were looking for in an intimate, tropical island vacation.

Amazing escape from reality
The setting of the Hotel is Paradise. The owner, when asked, will take you on a snorkling tour of the reef just off the hotel. We borrowed complimentary snorleling gear daily to search out sea creatures. Amazing. Walking the beach every morning was dreamy and good exercise. Free scuba demonstration in the hotel pool with the option to dive a reef wall after a paid class (very reasonable). All this was at the hotel. On the Island there were many other amazing things. Tito and Sue's crab races were fabulous. What fun. Big Beards catamaran and snorkeling barbque was a fantastic voyage. Driving an ATV through the rainforest was so cool. We missed out on the canoe ride up Salt River due to bad weather, but shopped instead. Mostly we sat back with our rum punch and enjoyed watching the lemon sharks swim in the reef area. Be aware that they drive on the left. Knowing this and doing it are definitely not the same. Thankfully the locals are so friendly and patient. Be prepared for true Island time (about a half hour longer than you'd expect things to be done). It was sad to come back to reality.

There are so many companies on the pier who offer water activites. Don't fill up your days before you get there. Make your first day a tour of Christiansted and check out the offers.
