Bolongo Bay Resort All Inclusive Deal

This resort is second to none in customer service and amenities. We had a fantastic 5 night/6 day stay and would definitely go back. We got the all inclusive deal, which is a wise decision if you are an eater and drinker. The price per item isn't cheap. (except beer) The food is pretty pricey. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the more upscale Lobster Grille, which has a pool bar and also had lunch and dinners at the beach bar, Iggie's. Both restaurants are on the resort and part of the all inclusive package. The staff, all of them, were amazing. So friendly, polite and eager to help. Go see Yoshi, the activities coordinator. He's awesome. We had a beach front room and ground level. It was perfect. Snorkeling gear, kayaks, paddle boards, and pedal boats are all included to borrow. This was a five star trip and we are so pleased with it! Highly recommend!!!

Great trip!

The view was beautiful, the owners and staff were very friendly and attentive. The two restaurants had fabulous food. It is an older hotel and has one pool. We liked that it was a smaller resort and we got to know the other guests. The beach was nice to lay on, but kind of rocky when walking into the ocean. There is good snorkeling with sea turtles swimming in the bay.

Could be better

We booked a value room and were upgraded to an ocean view room at no charge, which was a nice surprise. The room itself was clean enough and good sized, however it felt due for a remodel - the tiles were chipped, the shutters over the windows were dingy, etc. Our main gripe with the room was the shower - there is only a small, stall shower and the shower curtain was too short so the bathroom flooded every time we used it. We asked several other people we were traveling with if they had the same problem in their rooms, and they did. In addition, there was mildew on the curtain and in the tiles. The pool was clean but very small, and the beach was very rocky and grassy under the water - I would definitely recommend sandals or water shoes. The food was a mixed bag - breakfasts were delicious (aside from the corned beef hash) but the lunch options left something to be desired, and dinners were good, but pricey. On our last day there, my wife ordered chicken tenders, and noticed after two bites they they were completely raw in the middle. Service was also mixed - we met some wonderful servers who went above and beyond (Kevin, Sharon, Karen), and others not so much. St. Thomas itself was beautiful, but if we ever return, we will try another hotel.

If you're planning to leave your hotel at all, rent a car. Taxis are $10-$15 per person for every trip you take. Renting a car would have been cheaper and more convenient.

Seems hit or miss

Pros: * Friendly staff (exception below) * Included water toys. * Reasonable eating options for the size of resort. Cons: * Poor front desk/ management staff. Complaints were met with lame excuses or ignored. * After visiting other St Thomas beaches, this one disappointed. It's definitely not prominent in any of their close-up photo's you'll notice. It's got lots of rocks and vegetation in the water. Sea turtles were a positive though. * Iggie's Carnival night. Don't do the buffet if you enjoy eating. Food was bland and not worth $39/person. (We were on the "European Plan", not the "All Inclusive" through the resort). * Screen doors. The mesh keeps out mosquitoes but not sand flies. The room was clean, but be aware that it doesn't seal off at all, making it difficult to cool and allowing bugs to get in. Mediocre: * The lobster grille was decent, but nothing special. * The water sports were nice, but the amount of space you can use in the bay is extremely limited. The bigger toys can go into the ocean proper, but it's hit or miss as far as weather goes. We went in April towards the end of high season, and it was fairly quiet. I did notice the resort livened up at night more, so it seems that most people went elsewhere for the day. We did more than once. Overall, it seems hit or miss and maybe a bit overpriced, considering it's one of the better rated places on the island.

Great laid-back vibe

If you like smaller, more casual settings then this is the place! Beautiful setting right on the beach. Two restaurants that serve excellent food and a pool-side bar that complete the picture. The staff is very friendly and make an effort to get to know you. Rooms are clean and simple, ours had a coffee maker, fridge and sink. Beach toys were in good shape and readily available.

Best Trip Ever!

My 3 kids and I absolutely LOVED this resort! The staff was very warm and accommodating. If you are looking for authentic island feel (very relaxed atmosphere), this is the place. The kids loved that they could run around the resort in swim suits and without shoes and no one complained. The staff us all feel very welcome and relaxed. The lifeguards (McCoy and Kris…I think was her name) were always accommodating and would hook the kids up with life jackets and water craft that they wanted (kayaks, water tricycles, etc.). The kids always loved hanging out with the lifeguards. We loved eating lunch and dinners at Iggies as it is right on the beach and kids could run off to play while we waited for our orders. Again the service was wonderful and the food was great. The breakfast buffet was served at the main hotel restaurant and again, no complaints. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. I cannot forget to say wonderful things about their landscaper/entertainer. He was SOOO friendly and always in a wonderful mood. In addition to tending to plants, he would entertain guests by scurrying up a tree and collect coconuts that he then would cut open and then hand out. I just cannot say enough wonderful things about this place! Kids are asking when can we go back.

Make sure you find out the cost of the cab and luggage handling before the trip from the airport to the resort. I asked and was told it was $9 per person however, when we arrived I was told cost went up. I inquired and was told it was because we had 1 suitcase and 1 carry on.

Amazing vacation!!

so well priced, the room was simple but pretty ( i didnt come for the room nor did i spend much time in it.) The staff was amazing and so friendly, even the groundsman would smile and say, "hello captain" to everyone he saw, he even went out and got us a fresh coconut off the tree! The resort grounds were amazing, i would highly recommend taking advantage of the snorkeling- there are 3different sea turtles swimming around each day that you can reach out and touch! Iggies beach bar is awesome night life w live music, definately eat at the lobster grille- the food is much better. My boyfriend and I upgraded to the all inclusive, reasonable price and it was nice to not have to worry about what i am spending. Ultimately everything was great, when I come back this will be the only place i stay!! Btw, spring for the oceanfront room, its worth it. I was so nervous after reading the bad reviews on here, but trust me it is so laid back and relaxing!
