Great time, great value
Great time at Concordia, very friendly helpful staff. Far better value versus camping, for the wimpy be prepared for a compost toilet and solar showers as well as about a hundred steps up and down to your Eco Tent. Views are stunning, very clean. If there has been rain recently you will get bitten by no see ums, get a repelent bracelet at the store and you will be fine. Watch out for any holes in the screens in the cabins for bugs to get in. Restaurant was very good though a bit pricy.

Amazing Views - Great Value
I almost cried seeing the look on my teenaged daughter's face as she glanced over the balcony of our Concordia Eco Tent one last time, before we packed up and left. I thought the absence of a computer and daily access to texting her friends would be tough for her... but at Concordia - she didn't seem to mind. Although the box of dried food we sent several weeks ago never made it (definitely pay the extra to use priority if you plan to send something), and we walked more stairs in one week than we probably have all year, the amazing views and friendly staff were unlike anything we've experienced on any vacation in our life. (I give the staff here 5 stars)! Nearby Salt Pond Bay is beautiful for snorkeling and if you can get past the sound of the canvas blowing in your eco tent every night, the crickets and the waves of the ocean will lull you to sleep. Definitely pack or buy bug spray, though only a couple members of our family were bit and the others were not as bad. If you are one who is prone to bug bites, use something with deet and wear long pants and long sleeves after dusk. If you rent a car - be sure to rent a jeep or four wheel drive - as the large speed bumps on St John are very rough on a normal or mid sized car. Something you soon find out once on the island! However, with the minor inconveniences, there were so many perfect moments; like sitting on our eco tent porch watching sunrises, hiking Nanny Point trail at sunset, eating at Concordia Café while listening to live music, getting a morning run in while light mist falls on you, watching the lizards play, etc. After coming home to snow and 20 degree temps in Chicago, these memories will keep us warm for days to come.

Long walk from hotel
If you choose to stay in the Concordia Eco Tents, be prepared for a lot of walking and stairs. Bring several reusable bags you can use for carrying food, groceries or other items around the property and also suggest individual powder packets to flavor your drinking water.

Eco Tents
St. John's is an amazings island but not cheap. The eco tents are a great way to have an affordable stay on St. John's. It is away from Cruz Bay which has the advantage of a quite side of the island but the disadvantage of longer drives. There are a number of great little restuarants in the area which are nicer than the ones in Cruz Bay. The tents were rustic and simple... so a person can't be a wimp who stays in a basic tent. The greatest challenge to our stay there was that there are no electric outlets in the room. It makes it difficult for charging phones or camera batteries. The main office can do it for you for no charge, although it's an extra step. The mattresses were not that great in our tent, but there were 5 beds to choose from. The walkways and veiws were amazing and the staff was very helpful... especially by USVI standards. It's not a million dollar villa, but it also doesn't cost $4,000 a week to rent. It was a perfect option for us.

It is worth bringing a suitcase of food with you. A half a loaf of bread and a small box of milk cost $11 there.

Great location, incredible views
Stayed in an Eco tent on the upper road. Was nice because it was very close to the car, however to get to the Cafe, office, or the store it was lots of steps (165 to the office and a few more down to the Cafe. (but we knew there would be lots of steps going into this). Nice to wake up in the morning and have a "private" view from your bed out to the Salt Pond Bay and green hills and mountains all around. No obstructions whatsoever!! Just nature! All you see is water, greenery and sky..maybe a sailboat or two. Same view from the deck too...and also nice to sit out at night on your deck and see all the stars. There's a great hike down to Salt Pond Bay right from Concordia..and don't miss the short walk from there to Drunk Bay (it's very funny when you get there!). The food at Concordia Cafe is very good, although I honestly have to say that food we had everywhere on St John was excellent. Saturday night Concordia had a reggae band come and there was a buffet, food, and dancing...nice! Only negatives are that the people at the registration desk were not always the most helpful, and it took a good 15 minutes to check out because the girl was having some issue with the computer and was getting quite exasperated.

The food at Concordia Cafe is very good, and the cafe staff is overly friendly. We ate 3 dinners and 2 breakfasts there...alway excellent, but it is really worth it to also venture out to other places around Coral Bay...there are very good places around the area! If you want snack food or beer, wine etc. the Concordia store has a nice selection of things...very convenient.

Wow, wow and WOW
This was without a doubt, the BEST way to stay on St. John. The best way we could describe it was staying in a treehouse... so if that's for you, you WILL NOT be disappointed! We stayed in tent P14 and would recommend that one in a heartbeat. The breeze was amazing and you're right above the beach line below. Noise from other tents is not an issue at all. The tents are exactly what they are in the pictures. I would recommend bringing a bath towel and maybe sheets. The bugs were my only (and I mean only) complaint. We bought a mosquito coil in the store on site which helped a bit. Bug spray will be your friend! The toilet doesn't smell at all... the shower is rather comical and super easy to figure out— And rather fun if there are only two of you. :) Potable water is on-site in several locations... Inside there is a gas stove, pots/pans, dishes, refrigerator/cooler that holds quite a bit, a cooler for you to take with you for the day, a filter holder to make a cup of coffee at a time—really, everything you need. Everything runs on solar power, so there aren't any outlets. Bring a car charger for small electronics if you need to. :) Flashlights help quite a bit... the steps are lit, but it helps to have some extra light. The staff was awesome. Chat them up for any beaches/hikes to take. They will not steer you wrong. You definitely need a car. We rented one at St. Thomas and didn't have any issues at all. Everyone keeps saying get a Jeep. If you want to drive one for the heck of it, why not, but we just had a Toyota Jaris, which was MORE THAN OKAY. You're going 10mph around those curves anyway... I didn't feel like there was that much "off-roading" to do. That was more left to the hiking itself... But go with your gut. I just didn't feel the need to pay $100 more for a week (or more) for something that might get me up a hill 5 seconds faster, but that's me. Really, really had a fabulous time—and can't wait to go back again. Loved it.

Blissfully peaceful quiet getaway!
This was our best vacation. The lodge was perfect for us and exactly as advertised. Very quiet and peaceful - the restaurant was very nice, good food, etc. We snorkeled a lot, hiked and did some other sight seeing.

Very Eco!
We had late check-in and didn't bring the flashlight. It's tough to carry luggages walking in darkness and seaching for the room. No A/C, no power outlets, lots of mosquitos and bugs. The toilet is clean and odorless, better than I expect. They have a pool with nice view. The staff is very friendly.

Nice but far
They provide you with basic needs like pots, pans, bed sheets, etc. No running water but private bathroom. Make sure you rented a car because it's difficult to get taxi out that far. Beach is a walk through the nature trail, so be ready for that if you don't have a car. NOT walking distance from anything. We made mistake of staying there while our friend had a wedding we were attending in St Thomas. Make sure you have lots of time and nothing pressing to attend to, then you'll enjoy yourself more. Tent was cozy, bring bug spray and enjoy yourself.
