Absolutely stunning grounds, laid back vibe, BEST beaches. We rented a Jeep to tour the island, and Caneel's beaches were as good as the best (Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay). A 5-minute & $5 dollar open-air taxi ride to town (Cruz Bay) The resort does an amazing job of maintaining a natural surrounding. Crystal-clear, blue water at every beach. Amazing views of surrounding islands across each horizon. Wonderful sunsets. Very professional and non-intrusive staff provides 5-star service throughout. We will definitely be back.

Perfect place to relax!
This was the most laid-back place I've ever been. The staff was extremely friendly and the service exceptional. Awesome massages in the beach cabanas. Monday night seafood buffet was incredible. Great snorkeling right off the beach. Really enjoyed the wildlife... deer, donkey and mongoose. No television or telephone in the room made it the perfect place to relax, catch our breath, and be refreshed.

Peaceful resort with awesome beaches
Caneel Bay is a wonderful resort. Elegant, fun, private, quiet, beautiful. Seven beaches with beautiful white sand and snorkeling (colorful fish, starfish, urchins). Resort offers complimentary snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats. I would recommend the sunset sail - the crew is wonderful. Lots of free-roaming animals on the grounds - donkeys, deer, mongoose, geckos, and even hummingbirds. I would recommend an oceanview room close to the front desk area. When you first arrive, take a free 20 min shuttle ride tour around the resort to learn about layout of this large property.

It doesn't get any better
This is a low key, but 5 star resort. The idea is to unplug and feel as if you are the only one on the island... This resort does an outstanding job of being quiet and unseen while providing you with everything you could possibly need. There are no phones, no TV, no distractions and no worries. I love Caneel Bay and will return again as soon as possible! We have stayed in the more expensive rooms with ocean views, but this trip we stayed in the tennis court rooms with no view of the ocean and it was just perfect. They provided us with cookies and beach toys for the kids and champagne and rum for us... They made sure we had ample towels for the beach and shower, as well as bug spray and lotions. Don't miss breakfast...it's the best meal of the day! We enjoyed the dinners,too- beautiful and elagant. Our children went with us on this trip to Caneel and they managed to unplug and enjoy the water and sand just as much as us! They said it was their favorite trip ever!

We stayed at Turtle Beach and the Estate House restaurant was lovely and delicious. But don't be afraid to go off site the cost was lower and it's great to explore. I recommend La Planche and Morgan's Mango at Mongoose Junction in Cruz Bay.

Caneel bay was great!
Great time. Warm friendly staff was willing to get you anything you wanted. Make sure to do the meal plan as the meals are quite expensive otherwise. We loved the trip. They give you snorkel gear for the whole week and you can swim with turtles, rays and all sorts of beautiful fish. We have been all over the caribbean and nothing comes close. We are going back for sure. We went into town but it was loud and annoying compared to the resort. That being said there is a small casino if you are into that. Very quiet and comfortable resort with great staff and good food. Thanks!

Exquisite Caribbean Resort
Tucked away on the north side of St. John Caneel Bay is a a Caribbean gem. The staff was warm and friendly from checking in our luggage at the airport on arrival to loading us up to depart. The grounds were immaculate and the beaches of travel poster quality. The resort is large enough that it never felt crowded at all, more like a private accommodation. We have traveled a fair amount in the Caribbean and Caneel Bay would be one of our favorite destinations. It is also an ideal location from which to explore the rest of St. John.
