Nice hotel in the middle of the Old Quarter
If you're looking for a decent hotel that offers good value and is in a great location in the Old Quarter, this is worth checking into. Some things to watch out for - motorbikes parked along the entrance, and even a vendor cart (which is what I faced when I arrived after midnight), so that it can be hard to get to the front door. The streets outside can be rather offputting to negotiate, but once inside the hotel all is fine. The hotel's elevator only reaches the 6th floor and the breakfast room is on the 8th, so be prepared to do a bit of stair climbing. The room is fine but I was located on the 7th floor under the dining room so I was awakened by 6:15 am each day since breakfast is served starting 6:30 am. It's an older building, so you will hear more noises. Staff was great in helping me out with tours and were all unfailingly polite. Get recommendations from the web on great street food in the area - you don't have to spend much for good food. It's just a block from the Lake and another short walk to the Water Puppet Theater so location is excellent plus the side street location makes the area relatively quiet. The breakfast buffet was quite good. Overall, good value for money and would definitely recommend for travelers who don't mind stairs.

Short walk from hotel
Get your tickets to the Water Puppet Theater as soon as possible to get a good seat up front. It's only $5. And check the schedule at the Opera House since you can't see this beautiful theater unless you attend a show.

Perfect! It Doesn't Get Any Better
Absolutely perfect hotel for a "home base" while exploring HaNoi. It was a couple of blocks away from Hoan Kiem Lake and steps away from good food and drink. It is located on what is almost a side street which resulted in a little less traffic than other places. We were able to walk almost everywhere. The hotel itself is clean clean clean. And sparkling. We did not hear noise in our 5th floor room. We had AC, cable, bathtub with jet sprays and shower heads, fresh fruits daily (loved the avocado and longan especially), complimentary bottles of water. I believe it may even have included breakfast but we never partook of it since we were usually up and out of the hotel before 6 am. And the bed... huge, comfortable, enough pillows (rare for me), We had the best vacation in Vietnam and this was the best hotel we've stayed. The staff was so friendly and helpful; we felt very comfortable there. We asked for the name of a restaurant that served banh cuon, a dish we'd heard of and never tried; one of the staff directed us to his favorite restaurant. We went there directly and had the best meal yet. It was to be just a snack but we ended up with 3 orders and 3 bia hoi. The staff came out and thatnked us on the night we left... they even arranged a driver for our trip to the airport. We left Vietnam after 10 days, which wasn't enough!, having such a warm spot in our hearts for HaNoi and its people. Of course our stay in the Hanoi Imperial Hotel had so much to do with that feeling since we felt safe and comfortable and welcomed there. AND I did not even mention the massages/pedicares we enjoyed in the hotel! I promise that we will stay there is we ever make back to HaNoi. I'm working on getting my guy to promise to take me back there!

Dining tip:
Not Applicable
Try everything and anything. Have an open mind and a good appetite. Don't be afraid of "street food". People are friendly and so accomodating with many of them speaking at least some English; it would be a really nice thing if visitors/tourists learned a few words in Vietnamese.

Perfect services - First choice for Hotels in Hanoi
I have stayed in some Hanoi hotels but the Hanoi Imperial Hotel is the best. I am the businessman and I have been in Hanoi for a long time. I was recommended the hotel by a friend and I decided to choose the Hanoi Imperial Hotel is my full house in Hanoi. The room is the biggest and the most comfortable I have ever stayed, They offer VIP treatments since I am a long-term guest: free 2 ways of airport transfers, minibar, discount laundry fee, massage services... the room rate is also reasonable and value to stay. I find the services heres are perfect: clean and nice room, helpful staff, good breakfast, excellent massage services... The hotel also offer the great convenience to all the attractive destinations of the city. Ingeneral, I satisfy with the hotel and enjoy my stay here.

Ideal hotel for staying in Hanoi
I and my husband spent 3 nights in Hanoi Imperial Hotel from 2nd Dec to 5th Dec, 2011. We have just got married and wish to enjoy the honeymoon holidays in Vietnam. The Hanoi Imperial Hotel is truly an ideal hotel to stay and I would like to thank all the hotel staff for making our holidays meaningful. We have booked a Deluxe room but they were so kind to free upgrade us to the VIP room with free of charge. The room is really nice with 2 big windows and 1 balcony on the 7th floor. They also set up candles, red wine and roses in the room to surprise us. Everything was perfect and we enjoyed our stay with a great volumn. In general, the hotel room is great, clean and large, staff are extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast is good, location is convenient. Highly recommend the Hanoi Imperial Hotel for travelers who are looking a great three star hotel in Hanoi.

Right choice for your stay in Hanoi
Our family spent 3 nights in the Hanoi Imperial Hotel from 4th Nov to 7th Nov, 2011 and we were totally satisfied with the excellent services here. At the begining when we entered the hotel, we were very surprised at the very large and luxurious lobby, it looks like a 4 star hotel. Check in quickly and get in to a hug family room (the best comfortable room we have ever stayed in Hanoi). We cannot imagine that in the small and busy Hanoi old quarter, there is a hotel with a such huge room and big windows like that. The beds in the room are extremely comfy. The room is simple in decor but really comfortable. The breakfast was served on the top floor with variety of food and good quality. The hotel staff are always helpful and friendly. Moreover, the massage services in the hotel are excellent with reasonable price. The location is also the advantage, next to Hoan Kiem Lake, coffee shop, nice restaurants and attractive tourist destinations. Strongly recommend this lovely hotel to all.
