Good hotel, really

The hotel was nice, really. The reviews above are wrong. First of all, the hotel is not in a bad location, it's four blocks away from Plaza Independencia and the beginning of the major street 18 de Julio. Secondly, the are many restaurants close to the hotel; and the food at the hotel is not bad and is, in fact, very creative. Also, the staff spoke excellent English, both at the reception and at the restaurant. The only thing that was a minor annoyance was the fact that ACs in the room and in the halls are way too intense.

Don't Waist Your Money Here

This property needs a complete remodel. My guess is the last time they spent any cash on fixing the place up was about 1954!Very disappointed. Bad neighborhood location, not safe at night to walk around. No restrauants close so no choice but to eat in the hotel.Limited menu and boring, never changes, always the same,no imagination.Poor service and hardly anyone spoke English. Not ready for tourists.Stay downtown and be more satisfied.

[...]

I went to Montevido on vacations. My staying at NH Columbia hotel was not very pleasant. First of all, I booked [...] a room overlooking the river, but when I got there they did not find my reservation and all the rooms overlooking the river were already occupied. They gave me instead a rear room, right next to a building project that woke me up at 7am and did not let me sleep again. The noise was really annoying. I wish I would've been told about this at the check-in.So, finally I paid more for a room that I did not get. That was not funny.

The Hotel is great Nice location, close to the city if you need to go for bussiness. THe Breakfast is huge! and there is wireless all over the hotel From the room you have a wonderfull view to the ocean. Just 6 blocks from the hotel, there is a place to eat during the day that is called Mercado del puerto. Excellent place! The best meat! Great Parrilla! I will back to NH columbia!
