A Faded Beauty

Soaring ceilings, moldings in the old grand tradition, street-side rooms with tall "French" doors... See full review

Definitely a budget Hotel, clean and in good conditions, very well located. (03.09 MQ) From outside the hotel is a traditional Uruguayan style building. This Hotel is located in the city centre of Montevideo, on the main street 18 de julio, few meters from the Main square.

Never again.....

The hotel was old, customer service was bad at best. The breakfast they provided was a slice of bread and one old croissant per person, disgusting coffee and orange juice. The room had no a/c so you had to open the windows to get some breeze in the room which made sleeping until 9 am a night because of all the noise in the streets. Will never stay at that hotel again.

Los Angeles Hotel

This is totally false advertising, the hotel was one of the worse experiences in my life. The first room I stayed in had no fan. When I complaint about it, I was transferred to another room with a fan but the phone did not work. The bathrooms are unique due to the fact that the showers are directly above the toilet. The wooden tiles on the floor were coming off. While I was there someone with a knife came in to attack reception, the security of the hotel is non-existant, anyone can get into the elevator and walk through the hotel. The doors to the rooms were weak, the locks were not strong. The free breakfast consisted of coffee, bread with butter and jell and orange water, not orange juice, but orange water. The hotel has lots of potential but it needs a lot of work. I really had to spend a week at a hotel moved 2 days later to a four star hotel, for double the price I went from hell to heaven.

Friendly statt& close to center

Los Angeles Hotel was centrally located and close to shops and restaurants in downtown Montevideo and taxi ride to central mercado for more restaurants. Was there New Years eve and day and not a good time to go. Hotel staff and even policeman indicated best to stay in hotel due to dangers in the streets by drunk party goers.
