The Four Points Montevideo is located downtown, which has its good and bad aspects. The good ones are that it is close to the historic Citadelle, or Old City, and the port. There are plenty of good restaurants or parrillas, shops, museums and art
galleries. The bad side was that Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, music from The Abundance Market starts between 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM, and lasts until 1 AM. It is really hard to sleep as the microphone makes things worst.
Other than that, the hotel is very good. Food, attention and facilities are excelent. If I were to return there, I would ask for a room facing Ejido street.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Good stores are found along 18 de julio avenue, with prices far more afordable than at the shoping malls.
The hotel was very comfortable but we specifically requested a non-smoking room and when we arrived at 1.30am exhausted...were shown to very smelly smoking room. When we asked to change rooms this was done quickly but at that time in the morning
it is the last thing you want! Then our safe broke, no we didn't forget the code, and it had to be drilled open! Staff were again very helpful and the job was done within the hour, not withuot a bit of noise though! All in all I think the hotel was good value for money (on line price) and was just where we wanted to be. A plus for us was that we discovered it is right next door to another market building (not well known like the one at the port) which was also sent out to Argentina (but got stuck in Uruguay) in the 19th century. It is an iron prefabricated structure and has delicious cheap eats inside!
