Hotel Terra is a radiant slopeside hotel in Jackson Hole with chic interiors and smart design. This Teton Village hotel does more than nod to the environment -- 90 percent of its interiors are bathed in natural light and utilize 100 percent renewable energy. Developer/skier Rob DesLauriers' first super-eco hotel has enough edge to earn kudos from both hard-core skiers and discerning urbanites.

Dining

Elegant and highly regarded Osteria offers house made pasta and fish and game entrées on a fashionable outdoor fire pit terrace. Inside, Terra Cafe, where the chairs are made of recycled seatbelts, has all organic breakfast burritos and smoothies, plus full coffee bar and loose leaf teas. Room service is available.

Rooms

Luxury rooms, studios, 1, 2 and 3-bedroom suites incorporate vibrant eco design with quality fixtures. Subtle Western touches are present in artisan wood relic lamps, hand hewn coffee tables and maize-colored walls. Rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, in-room safes, organic fair trade coffee, Bose surround sound, iPod docks and free Wi-Fi. Mattresses, sheets, towels and robes are all natural. Granite and recycled glass bathrooms have tubs, rain showers and organic products. Suites have full kitchens, gas fireplaces and furnished terraces. Smoke and chemical-free air quality is enhanced by a hi-tech ventilation system.

Property features

Take off the mountain cold in the modern twig-hued Hotel Terra lobby lounge where Himalayan climbing shots and avant-garde wood paneling adorn walls, a fire roars and drinks are served in laid-back Jackson style.

The Place to be in Jackson Hole

Outstanding overall experience with a boutique hotel feel. The staff was amazing, and the people were extremely friendly. We will stay at Hotel Terra during our visit to Jackson in the spring.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

If you're traveling in the off season the city of Jackson shuts down at 9-9:30PM on weekends. Its almost impossible to find a reputable restaurant serving food after 9PM. Your only options are sports bars and the type of pizza places that college kids frequent.

Modern and spacious

We stayed in an "urban studio". Tasteful architecture and decor, high quality kitchen appliances, great value. Surprisingly quiet on Memorial Day weekend.

Good hotel, with kinks to work out

New and nice decor. Small scale to feel cozy and personal, but big enough to have the amenities like good restaurant, apres in the lobby, free laundry (key for a ski vacation!). etc. Small but functional spa (only a steam room). Overall, great location and was happy with our stay. BUT the staff failed on several occasions that caused us undo stress and left a bad impression: 1. Concierge made reservation at wrong restaurant which we didn't discover until we got there. 2. Front desk failed to confirm a massage appointment, so my husband had no reservation when he showed up at the spa, despite my conversation confirming with the front desk. But again, these were the exceptions to the experience. And overall was very happy.

Not much choice in Teton Village

Hotel Terra was just so-so. I would consider it more along the lines of a boutique hotel. It has a small lobby and even smaller registration desk. Usually it wasn't a problem, but sometimes we had to wait really long to just ask a simple question because there was only one person at the desk. The rooms were on the small and dark side. One of our rooms had a Murphy Bed, and while this was necessary due to the small room, it was kind of inconvenient. When the bed was down, there was NO space at all. The other room we had was kind of strangely arranged. There was a long hallway. Overall, don't know if it was due to the whole "green" thing or not, but there was not enough lighting in the rooms. Dining options are severely limited. The Cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch. Even with the lines, usually service was pretty expeditious. The Osteria was always full for reservations, and they end up using the lobby area to serve. Which is kind of weird and not very appetizing. Hotel Terra is touted as a ski-in, ski out. But it really isn't. It's more of a climb out, ski sort of in. All in all, not a terrible place, but not outstanding either. The staff is very nice and helpful. But I would choose the Four Seasons next time.

Great Resort

Beautiful views from Terra Resort in the heart of Teton Village. Very large clean room with free Wifi and a coffee maker which I like. Free parking. Pool and rooftop hot tub were very clean and enjoyable. Easy walk to tram for fantastic views. Mangy Moose a few steps away serves a great burger. Renting bikes is very easy with great paved trails nearby.
