Don't listen to the bad reviews. Had a great stay.

I stayed here for St. Patty's day to ski. For the money if you had a problem with this motel your expectations are very unreasonable. Very clean and comfortable. I walked all over town from the room. If your expecting the place to cater to you, you need to spend double the money and stay somewhere else. There is no concierge service. There is a front desk to check in and out. Other than that your on your own. The cleaning staff was great. The kitchenette worked out great to save a few bucks on meals. I will most definetly stay there next time I'm in Jackson. If I had to say anything bad. I wish the tv was bigger.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The Tavern has half price drinks every night from 8_10. Don't drink and drive. Cops are tough on rental car drivers. You can walk to almost anywhere on 10 min or less. Cabs are super cheap.

Just what we needed

The Lodge worked out well for us. Our room had 3 queen size beds & slept the 6 of us comfortably. Also, the location was good. The man at the desk misinformed us about the "shootout", but everything else was fine.

Very clean; great for extended stay

Very clean, could use better lighting in the room, tho. Seems like it would be great for an extended stay with the kitchenette. It was fine for our one nite stay.

Below average for today's standards

Besides the location, this motel was below average and not a good value for peak summer travel. Looks like a blast from the past (no updates since the early 80's) including the blankets. Kitchenette is nice to have but feels like a small step up from camping. Has the earliest check out of any hotel I've heard of- 10am. No sleeping in! And office has hours between 8am and 10pm. We arrived late, not sure what would have happened had we been 15 min. later. Overall, disappointed.

Below Ground Without Lights

Although the room was clean, it was located a half level below ground and faced the back of a repair shop. There was only one dim bedside lamp and one overhead light located away from the living area near the kitchen. No light at all over the kitchen table. Large TV cabinet with very small TV. Not the best stay.

for smokers- there is a saloon next to the Virginian Motel (Broadway Street) that is smoker friendly. you can sip that cocktail by the fire and enjoy a cigar or cigarette without being harrassed by non-smokers!

Made EconoLodge look good

To start with there are no "ground floor rooms". The lower floor is actually sub-grade and stairs are necessary to access your room. There is a ramp but very long and unfriendly. Our 19 year old son had just returned from a no frills mission trip that stayed in an EconoLodge in a college town and pronounced that this hotel made the Econo look pretty good. The property is very old, parking was a challenge and for the quality it was certainly no bargain. It was certainly a case of let the buyer beware! Keep looking, the price might look right but there are issues.

The Teton Steak house was much better than the Gun Barrel Steakhouse. Prices were much better and food quality much higher.
