This Cody historic hotel was once owned by Buffalo Bill
Built in 1902 by "Buffalo Bill" Cody, the Irma Hotel was named for his daughter and remains one of the most loved establishments in Cody. This National Historic Landmark, in the heart of Cody and 45 minutes from Yellowstone National Park, has been a popular lodging choice for more than a century. The restored historic guest rooms of the Irma Hotel transport guests back in history with brass beds and period furniture. The on-site restaurant is a Cody favorite, famous for its prime rib. Parking is free and high-speed Internet access is complimentary.
Highlights
  • National Historic Landmark, originally belonging to Buffalo Bill
  • Select guest rooms decorated in period furnishings, with famous past guests
  • Free parking and high-speed Internet access
  • Prime location in the heart of Cody
Rooms
The two-story Irma Hotel provides guests with standard amenities, including cable television, air conditioning, complimentary high-speed Internet access and a coffee-maker. The renovated historic guest rooms and suites feature period furnishings, transporting guests back in time. Guests can stay in rooms once occupied by Frederic Remington, Annie Oakley, Calamity Jane or Buffalo Bill himself. Standard rooms have simpler decor, but still evoke an Old West ambiance.
Features
The famous cherry wood bar at the Irma Hotel was a gift to Buffalo Bill Cody from Queen Victoria and is one of the most photographed items in Cody. Housed in the on-site Silver Saddle Lounge, guests can still belly up to the historic bar and see a show saddle that belonged to Buffalo Bill. Throughout the summer at 6 p.m. daily (except for Sunday), the Cody Gunfighters perform a reenactment of an Old West gunfight in front of the Irma Hotel. The Irma Restaurant Grill, famous for its prime rib, also features steak and seafood. The restaurant has a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and provides a buffet in the summer months.

A Real Treat

Not only was staying at The Irma a real treat, it was quite an experience. Our room had a window on the main street, which made it bright (even on a gloomy day). We actually ate 3 meals at The Irma. The service was excellent. and the staff was so accomodating and friendly. Great martinis as well. Would definetly stay here again.

Step back in time

I travel and stay at The Irma once a month. The staff have always been beyond friendly and helpful. The rooms are large, comfy, and nicely decorated of times gone by. The Cody is downtown within walking distance to shops, bars, and dining facilities. The walls are rather thin and you can hear footsteps squeaking down the 100+ year old hallways but other then that it's a great place to spend an enjoyable evening.

The Irma's restaurant is right downstairs. It's tastefully decorated and the service is excellent. While it's a little pricey, I've never had a bad meal yet. The sirloin steak sandwich is out of this world good.

We only stayed one night on our way into Yellowstone, but next time I might stay longer. Historic older hotel with nice amenities. Beds were excellent (very important), rooms spacious, GREAT Price, bathrooms ok - older style. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Charming way enroute to Yellowstone East

Great Buffalo ribs on the excellent buffet, very friendly staff and quaint shops near hotel. We were right in the town so we could do everything we had planned to do.

Not so great!

Pregnant lady at front desk was rude! The room was not properly maintained and had nasty stains in bathtub. Wall unit A/C was installed over 7 feet high, which required standing on bed to control, and ceiling fan was ridiculously small. Buffet was nasty and isle carpets were extremely nasty. The only plus is the location and other front desk staff were okay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

If you want an A+ meal at reasonable prices, visit "Wyoming's Rib Chop House" at 1367 Sheridan Avenue, Tel 307-527-7731. It's 2 blocks away from The Irma Hotel and you should make reservations. It was the best restaurant from my entire trip.

Too old this Hotel....

Everything are old (well, somebody like its classic, not to me a 30+ guy). Re-modelling is highly recommanded.

It is a great modernized historic hotel.

I enjoyed the bar and resturant on the main level of the hotel as well as it being walking distance to the down town area.

Great Historic Location

Great location. Cool historic place that is affordable. Even the rooms had antique furnishings. The only drawback was that the lounge was very smokey and that smoke made its way upstairs to the rooms.
