Built in 1902 by "Buffalo Bill" Cody, the Irma Hotel was named for his daughter and remains one of the most loved establishments in Cody. This National Historic Landmark, in the heart of Cody and 45 minutes from Yellowstone National Park, has been a popular lodging choice for more than a century. The restored historic guest rooms of the Irma Hotel transport guests back in history with brass beds and period furniture. The on-site restaurant is a Cody favorite, famous for its prime rib. Parking is free and high-speed Internet access is complimentary.
Rooms
The two-story Irma Hotel provides guests with standard amenities, including cable television, air conditioning, complimentary high-speed Internet access and a coffee-maker. The renovated historic guest rooms and suites feature period furnishings, transporting guests back in time. Guests can stay in rooms once occupied by Frederic Remington, Annie Oakley, Calamity Jane or Buffalo Bill himself. Standard rooms have simpler decor, but still evoke an Old West ambiance.
Property features
The famous cherry wood bar at the Irma Hotel was a gift to Buffalo Bill Cody from Queen Victoria and is one of the most photographed items in Cody. Housed in the on-site Silver Saddle Lounge, guests can still belly up to the historic bar and see a show saddle that belonged to Buffalo Bill. Throughout the summer at 6 p.m. daily (except for Sunday), the Cody Gunfighters perform a reenactment of an Old West gunfight in front of the Irma Hotel. The Irma Restaurant Grill, famous for its prime rib, also features steak and seafood. The restaurant has a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and provides a buffet in the summer months.

Visiting family

The room was really clean and the housekeeping was excellent. However, when we tried to check in we were ignored and had to stand and wait for him. He was not very friendly. The staff in the restaurant was rude and not friendly. I was really surprise that he srevice was like that. I lived in Cody for several years and the Irma was one of my favorite places to go. We have stayed there in the past and it was much better then.

Being Part of History

It was great fun to experience a part of the history of the town by staying at this hotel. The front desk staff was not very welcoming. The wait staff seemed stressed but tried hard to please. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely stay there again.

Historic but comfortable

The Irma Hotel in Cody, WY is definitely a visit back to the days of Buffalo Bill. It is charming, clean and full of antiques, period pieces and artwork. The staff was friendly, but front desk was a little disorganized. It almost added to the charm though...their filing system looks to be from the original hotel, with cards in numbered room slots and metal keys, etc. Dining room is beautiful, and contains the gorgeous bar that was, as the story goes, a gift from the Queen of England to Buffalo Bill. Nice visit...thank you!

Great location, great people

The Irma Hotel is in the perfect spot! Plenty of shopping and restaurants in walking distance. Directly across the street from a great coffee house, and four blocks from Buffalo Bill's Center of the West. Good food, great staff, clean rooms. Live music on Friday night in the lounge. The drinks are stiff and a good price. We would definitely stay at the Irma again.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is a must-see while in Cody. Buy tickets online and save a few dollars. Wear comfy shoes. The place is big with a lot to see. Don't hurry through - you will miss a lot if you do.

Ok but could have been better

1st make note this hotel does not have an elevator. My daughters and I had to haul three 40lb suitcases up and down a split flight of stairs. Staff could have cared less and did not offer to help. The room was ok but had a touch of a creepy old feel to it. Really could use some color. Seem ed dreary. Whom ever is responsible for cleaning the room failed to clear the alarm set by the previous guest. It went off at full buzzer volume at 5 am. The only way to turn it off and keep it from coming back on was to unplug it.

Old West Fun

This is the only place to stay in Cody if you want the real feel of the old West and mingle with the people who love it. The gun fight in the front of the Hotel seemed a little corny but it turned out to be pretty much fun since the participants are so reachable and anxious for you to just have fun. We totally enjoyed the whole experience.

The buffet was pretty crowded so we opted to eat off the menu in the old Dining Room and that was a lot less hectic.

Watch your pocket Book!!!

We arrived showed the staff our reservations that clearly showed it had been prepaid. They proceed to give us a bill for like $165 for the room. We say wait a minute we reserved it for $65. The guy says we don't have any rooms at that price. Goes gets the manager, she agrees finally after arguing with us to honor the agreed upon price of $65. Then tells us we still owe for the $65 even though our paperwork shows we paid already. Told us they get no funds from Or Bits. I think we paid for this room twice!!! I will be watching my bill closely I assure you! Other than that the hotel was quaint, room was nice, location was awesome.

If you can't climb stairs don't stay at the IRMA

Located in center of Cody, within driving distance to Yellowstone. Having the restaurant in the hotel was handy so don't have to go far, however prices were a little high for more than two people. Bed really comfortable, great hot water for shower. Every night at 6 p.m. gun fighter show outside hotel. NO ELEVATOR IN HOTEL, SO IF YOU NEED TO BE DOWNSTAIRS CALL THEM, DON'T RELY ON GETTING ONE DOWNSTAIRS.

Dining tip: In Hotel

If you are on tight budget hotel meals may be too high nothing on the menu under $15 a plate. Breakfast meal average. Prices may reflect the fact that it is tourist town.

Perfect location

Great location! Charming old hotel, but needs some physical fixing up. I would still recommend it because it definitely was comfortable and the things that had to be fixed you could live with.
