Decent hotel at a reasonable rate
I was happy with this hotel. The room was clean and up to date. It could have used a bead of caulk or two, but overall acceptable. The tv reception was fine, contrary to other reviewers experiences. I would stay here again.

Slum
We were in town for a wedding on 04 June, 2011 and checked into the Red Carpet Inn of Parkersburg, WV. There was an additional 10% cost added to the room charge that was not previously disclosed. Upon paying for and inspecting the room, my party of 4 discovered many unsatisfactory characteristics of the room that were not comparable with the rate paid, and likely aren't up to code to even be rented out. The room was obviously not cleaned (the air smelled like mold, there were thick cobwebs and the mirror was dirty, the bathtowels were greasy, threadbare and tiny and carpet was dirty with bits of food and large dust balls under all furniture), items in the room were in poor condition and there was damage to parts of the room (drawers would fall out, there was a hole in the bathroom door and a missing doorknob that, according to an online review I read, has been in that state since at least early April of this year). Thinking there must be some mistake, we brought this information to the attention of the front desk. The lady there acted in total disbelief of our claims, but did offer us another room. We moved to the "new" room and it was in similar condition. At this point we were ready to find somewhere else to stay, but the lady at the front desk flat out refused to refund our money, claiming that since the reservation was made online, that she could not cancel it, even though she had no trouble taking my credit card at the desk when I checked in. I asked to speak with a manager, but was again refused. She stated that he was not at the location and she also refused to call the manager, insisting that he would not be interested in resolving our issue. She became very rude and a bit agitated and continued to insist that the rooms were perfectly fine, but declined to come to the rooms and see the glaringly obvious disrepair. I feel that the conditions of the rooms were entirely unacceptable at any cost and the fact that attempts were not made to so much as call the manager or at the very least refund our money was way out and beyond even my extended traveling experience in any country. The rooms might be appalling, but the way they do business there is simply disgusting.

Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth
The sign out front says "FREE HBO." False, it does not have HBO. It is that it has "wireless highspeed internet" semi-true. I had was in a room at the far end and got NO internet, had to walk down to the "lobby" to get internet and carry my laptop. The beds were clean and comfortable, but nothing great. Remember the price you paid for this palce and don't judge harshly. The toilet had to have the handle held down to flush. The shower was old, but had good hot water. NO frills. Shampoo was in a pouch not bottle and had a hard time opening when I was wet. No hairdryer, but did have mini fridge and microwave which is nice for storing pop or other things. Overall, you get what you pay for. Not bad, but nothing to brag about, execpt that you are cheap and don't mind cheap hotels.

great location, plain, clean, good price
Juat an overnight stay enroute from MI to SC. Good hot shower, comfortable bed, I enjoyed the table and chairs, refrig and microwave and free high speed internet was a pleasant surprise for a great price. Nothing fancy, quite dated, but everything I could ask for for an overnight stay

NEVER AGAIN
I'll never stay there again. Sink clogged, even after the maids cleaned the room. Saturday night came back after being at a dirt track race, there was no electric, so no shower, no tv, no microwave, so we could not eat food we brought with us, refridgerator was not working, so food and liquid refreshments were not cold. Called front desk, no answer. Walked to the front desk, no one there, tried intercom,no answer, even knocked on their door, ( they lived there ) no answer. [...]

Disappointed
The family running the hotel were very nice, but there was a lot of mold in the bathtub, hole in floor that our foot would have fallen through if it weren't for the carpet and it had a horrible smell.

Short drive from hotel
I GREW UP IN PARKERSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA AND THE HOTEL WAS IN EASY ACCESS TO ANY WHERE WE WANTED TO GO, I77 WAS RIGHT BY THE HOTEL. THERE IS ALSO A BURGER KING ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THE HOTEL. WITHIN 7 MILES OF SEVERAL REALLY NICE RESTARAUNTS, MOVIE THEATERS, RETAIL STORES AND ENTERTAINMENT OF YOUR CHOICE.
