Holiday Inn Express MARTINSBURG-NORTH

Nice accommodations. Great breakfast, but the food was not served hot.

The hotel is nice and the room looked updated. The beds were very comfortable. The cinnamon rolls are fabulous and breakfast is a nice perk in general, although the pancake machine was broken, much to my little boy's dismay. However, the third floor, where our room was located, absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, as did our "non-smoking" room. It was so bad that our clothes and hair smelled like smoke, and when we opened our suitcase at home we were hit with the stench again. I'm a little uneasy about the safety and security of the place, as two nights in a row, first at 1 am and then at 2:30 am, we were awakened by someone knocking on our door who claimed to have the wrong room when my husband answered. It was unsettling and it woke up my kids. Also, at one point, our key would not work. I also witnessed a gentleman who had just checked in attempt to get into his room for the first time, only to find it was already occupied! All in all, its not a bad place, but for the price, and being a Holiday Inn, I expected better.

We made a quick last-minute decision on where to stay. This hotel was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels in the area (hotel was in 'north' martinsburg as opposed to martinsburg and only 8 miles from our usual destination). Worked out very well for us. Got a good night's sleep, a little breakfast, and then back on the road. They did have an exercise area, though we did not have time to take advantage of it.

When I exited the elevator on the third floor I was astonished to be overwhelmed with smell of cigarette smoke. I then realize that half of the rooms on the third floor were smoking and half were non-smoking. I did not smell smoke in my room, but it was a gastly smell getting off the elevator and walking past all the smoking rooms. The room itself was run down and minimal. Peeling paint on ceiling, cleanliness of bathroom less than desired, and overall cleanliness of building was poor. Although I will return to this area several times a year for business, I will not ever use this Holiday Inn Express again.

GOOD PLACE TO STAY

We only stopped for the night. The hotel was very nice, clean and quiet. The employees were very nice an friendly, It was convenient and easy to find. The breakfast was good and a nice variety of things. Only complaint - no places to eat dinner other than fast food close by.

Nice rooms, ice machine was working. Okay breakfast.

This was an overnight stay, travelling with our dog to NY. Large, comfortable quiet room. Complimentary breakfast was adequet. Ice machine had no ice, had to buy at the gas station.

Check in was easy, hotel was nice and quiet. The room was clean and breakfast was the usual. The bathroom needed a little remodeling, but it was clean.

We were weary travelers looking for a room on a big college weekend. We had not intended to stay in Martinsburg but were very happy we did. There were abundant restaurants in the area. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was well presented and the breakfast was above the usual. Would definitely recommend.
