Red Roof Inn Charleston Kanawha City WV

Although it wasn't a totally crumby place, I doubt i'd stay again. At first glance, it looks pretty cool, so you can tell they've put effort into the design and decor of their rooms. A little more cleanliness would have helped (hairs on floor in bathroom, sink not cleaned well). The bathtub drain plug was broken and simply pulled out and set aside. I could feel every spring on the bed. And the number one problem: the whole room smelled like dirty clothes. I pinpointed the odor as coming from the cloth shower curtain. Maybe they don't get washed every time? They definitely should be since even one person's shower leaves a deposit of funk in the fabric.

Checked in @ 8 PM and asked the desk clerk for a 4 AM wakeup call. Went to bed about 9 PM and was sound asleep when my fone rang at 10 PM. It was the desk clerk, she wanted my home address for her records! I told I had been asleep and didn't appreciate the "Early" wakeup. Room was clean, but the toilet had not been flushed from the previous resident. Only spent 8 hours there so did not partake of any other services.

The hotel is located right next to the highway so the rooms in the back (where I was) get lots of traffic noise. I had asked for a non-smoking room but didn't get one. Room smelled of smoke and was very irritating. Turned on the fan to move the air around, but the knob for the temperature was broken so had to live with the set temperature. Learned a lesson about going with a relatively inexpensive hotel. There were several hotels at that exit so I would try one of those if I ever had to stay in that area again.

Other than internet cost an extra $10, it was a very good, clean hotel. Also, its good to note there are only hot beverages available in the morning, no continental breakfast

The Red Roof Inn was fine. No frills. Just decent room and decent sleep. Only weird thing was the room smelled of talcum powder. To me this meant a smoker stayed there and the management was trying to get the smell under control. Also, the bed covers can cigarette burns on them. Other than that, the place was clean, no hassels, and no problems.

Place was very out dated.

Great hotel for the price. Could have had a bigger Red Roof Inn sign it was hard to see from the road.

Upon original check-in at Red Roof Inn Charleston - Kanawha City, KANAWHA CITY, WV, the room assigned was rather small and dull. The toilet was running, so when I went back to let the desk know, they assigned me to a much nicer room. Thank You for the upgrade. The suite room that I was upgraded to was very nice (outside of the fact that there was a dirty towel left in the bathroom from a previous guest). It was much larger then the original/standard room they offered. It had a nice desk that doubled as a table seating area. It's nice to have someplace else to sit in a room besides the bed. If I was to stay here again, I would definiately ask for an upgrade to the suite. The Hotel location was allright, a little hard to actually find the entrance, but at least it was right off the Interstate. The area seemed to have been a little seedy upon arriving at night, but as it turned out once I saw it by the light of the next morning (I arrived late at night), it was just an older part of town, along an Interstate off-ramp. The accessability to multiple places to choose from for eating was a nice thing. Especially the next morning when I went to I-Hop across the street for breakfast.

Check in time 1:00, arrived at 3:45 room was assigned (125) was not ready.Bed was made once in 4 days, room was not vacuumed, ash tray not emptied. AC was loud and barely cooled. Wouldn't stay there again for FREE>
