pleasantly surprised
stayed one night. We were upgraded to a "Pirate" themed room, lots of room, great beds, we were on the ground floor, but it did not feel that way, we had two patios and it felt very private. Room could use up-dating, overall very neat and clean. The High light of our stay had to be our dining experience at Kaminski Bros. Chop Shop. The food was unbeatable, along with the wonderful service. We will be talking about that for along time to come. Took in the Illusion Show, also very entertaining. Good stay, we will definitely return.

Management of the waterparks is terrible
There was an ace bandage in the trees right outside our room, killing what would have been a great view. The first day we were there the pools were so overcrowded it made the experience miserable ( they allow outsiders in). The second and third day when the crowds died down, the outside park was closed both days. We were told it was due to lack of staff. The food was less than par. Overall, we were not pleased.

Good getaway
At first they put us in a room with Murphy Beds I belive it was a conference room it was terriable, when I told them I didn't care for that they were very nice to move us to a better room. Illusion show was very expensive for what you got the little kids enjoyed it but I thought it wasn't very good, and there was only one baby tiger that he incorperated in his last act, the pictures were very deciving and it was a very small room that he did the show in. Long walk to the pool, and expensive if you let the kids play all the games along the way. Room was very clean. We did look at some of the bigger rooms and wow they were nice.

The country fresh buffet was really good for brunch and reasonable pricing $10.00 a person, and the pizza was good at the pizza place that was there, $14.00 a pizza. The steak house was very expensive for the surf and turf it was over $100.00 a plate needless to say we didn't eat there.

Pack Your Walking Shoes
Pool was great for our 3 year-old, but the distance from the pool was too far to travel with her and carry everything. Coolers and food/beverage carry ins were not allowed in the pool area. That was disappointing since so far from room. Room did not have sleeper sofa as stated in our confirmation. Most ice machines were broken or empty. Cafe provided ice, but you need to know to ask. 2nd check in by conference center - main one was 1/2 hour wait.

Off-season stay at Chula-Vista
Hotel accommodations were very nice. Enjoyed the indoor water park, but the kids quickly got bored with it. We actually went to another wter park the next day. There is MUCH more to do during the summer. We would go back, but only during the summer.

Beware of
This hotel has a "resort" charge of $15.90 per night for local calls (unneeded), shuttle service (unnecessary), wi-hi (unused), and work-out room (never found it). It also has a "green" fee of $4.00 (presumably to cover the recycling costs and pass them on to the guest). Neither were noted at Orbitz or any other similar sites etc) and made it impossible to compare similar/better hotels like the Kalahari and the Wilderness on-line. Both of those resorts are nicer and have more to do. If the resort charge at this hotel was displayed up front, they are a similar value. If a hotel wants to charge more for basic services, just raise the nightly rate to reflect that, so a shopper can make an honest comparison. I would not return and will continue to use the Wilderness and Kalahari for future stays. I will say if you have your mind set on staying here or the others are full, a river view room or condo would be worth the additional money rather than a standard motel type room. Although I suspect the entire hotel uses the same tiny towels and scratchy sheets. Also given the size of the hotel, there were not nearly enough outdoor deck chairs.

Great resort for families
Great indoor and outdoor waterparks for children of all ages. Our children are 3, 4, 6, 8 and all had fun with the wide variety of slides and activities. The rooms were clean and they even had towels so we didn't need to carry our own.

Great family environment
The Chula Vista Resort was very comfortable, the room was large, with a sofa bed, and a desk area, little table and 1 chair. I liked the fact that the bathroom was separate from the vanity area and there was a sink with a long counter with adequate space. An area for hanging clothes and they provided a suitcase stand, and spacious furniture.
