Skiing in Wausau
We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Wausau and we were very impressed how this hotel is run. Everybody was extraordinary friendly and helpful. The only downside is the breakfast. It was very busy and the area seemed to small for the number of people that were there. Also, I do not understand what big of a deal it would be to have real china and silverware available instead of styrofoam and plastic. It would be better for the environment and it is also nicer. We skipped breakfast the second day and went to a real restaurant.

Modern styling, clean, excellent service
I was impressed with the styling of the hotel. Looked newly remodeled with lots of woodwork, flat panel tv's and artwork. Looked like it had a designers touch that other hotels don't. Excellent breakfast bar, staff was very friendly. Did not use pool and fitness center, but htey looked nice.

Business trip
I was on a business trip and was a foot in the evenings and wanted to walk to resturant but the hotel was surrounded by snow. No sidewalk or way to cross over to the other properties so I could get food. Just need a crossover or some way person on foot can get around. Not to far to walk just no where to walk without getting hit by vehicles on the road, or cross stream with ice and water. Hotel employees were extremely friendly and helpful.

Very disappointed
I would have chosen another hotel had I known they were under construction. There was exposed wall insulation that of course, my children were very intrigued with - terrible safety hazard, much noise, drilling and hammering, workers coming and going with drywall. The eating area/lobby and check in area was WAY too small for the number of guests - no tables to sit to eat, food and beverages ran out, despite the breakfast staff working very hard to accommodate. Just not set up well to serve the number of guests booked for the ski season I guess. Hard wood floors were pretty but not very safe when skiers and guest coming and going in boots from the snow left water, ice and puddles on the floor...often slippery, unsafe and unclean - We were very disappointed and will not stay here again, despite the location and price - it wasn't worth it for us with small children.

Snowboard Trip!
We stayed for here for a ski weekend and loved it. The room was spotless, big bathroom for getting your gear on, Nice Flat Screen TV, super comfortable beds and pillows. You could see Granite Peak from the window it was only about 1 mile away. The night staff was excellent and the breakfast was Great. The only Downfalls were the elevator was not working that night and into to the next morning and the hot tub jets were busted as well. If you are looking for places to eat there is tons of options within a 5 mile radius of the hotel and the freeway is about .5 mile away
