Ok, but not great.

The restaurant and bar at this downtown hotel are exceptional, however the rooms are dated and not what I expected. I would take the new Marriott or Iron Horse over the InterContinental.

Very nice hotel, excellent location

All in all an excellent experience - check in was quick and painless, and checkout was even faster. Room was spacious and scrupulously clean. Service was quite friendly, down to the room service waiter I ran into in the elevator asking me how I was enjoying my stay and asking if there was anything I needed. The location is great, right on Water Street and next to the Performing Arts Center. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, and a well reviewed restaurant in the hotel that I did not try. I can confirm that the hotel bar has a very nice single malt selection. Parking is extra, which is not unusual for a downtown hotel - $25 a day.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Go to Water street and left (north) 2 blocks - many bars and restaurants to choose from.

Not what I expected from Intercontinental

Hotel was recently renovated yet sparsely decorated and the finished looked cheap and Holiday Inn Express-ish. Won't stay there again.

Hard to review such a short stay.

I was just there one night so I did not get full feel of hotel or location as only in town for one day. The hotel has a modern but not agressively so look. There was a large curved desk in the room and a large bed and TV. Bed was a little soft for me but that may be a personal preference. I used the fitness center just for some floor exercises and it was good for me that it was opened 24 hours, but some might not like it there late at night without an attendent. The attendent was there early in the AM and throughout the day, however. The bar areas, there are several different sections, looked inviting, and there were several different areas in the lobby to sit and wait, or talk or work on a laptop, all of which people were doing, quietly. I consider it a value at the rate we paid, considering the hotel pricing climate these days. But I expect it is an expensive place if you do not get a discount.

Interesting, small outdoor cafes nearby, close to historic, very German Mader's full service restaurant. Starbucks across the street is convenient.

last minute stop

We booked the hotel last minute after we decided to spend the night in Milwaukee. Using a travel app to book, we got a bargain! The hotel was downtown by Water street where there were a bunch of restaurants and bars to eat. It was also near the river walk area which was a nice place for a stroll. The room itself was very spacious and clean. We used the free fitness room the next morning and were told that we could also use the pool and spa at their sister hotel a few blocks over. The parking was $25 overnight which was a little high but for a one night stay we didn't complain. We would definitely stay here again if in Milwaukee.

We were greeted with smiles and courtesy upon arriving. The staff was very professional and kind. We were there for a wedding, and it was nice to have other bars to visit throughout the day without having to leave the hotel.

Perfection

Everything needs to be spot right on for a hotel to receive a 4 star rating. 5 star is exceeding expectations. The complimentary coffee, a vital component to getting most people's days started was no where to be found or offered early in the morning, when people want to drink coffee. There was a whole group of people asking one another where the coffee was to be found and finally located it in an obsure spot on the 4th floor. What is that? Very rigid, cold, institutional like atmosphere. Would recommend if the price was lower than $144/night.

Great location downtown

Easy to find and park. Valet was great and quickly grabbed our luggage and walked us to the front desk to check in. We booked online at a great rate. We asked about upgrading but the front desk clerk couldn't figure out what the cost would be or the difference in the rooms. She asked a co worker for help but still no luck. After 10 minutes of the desk clerk trying to figure it out, we just kept the basic room. It was fine..nothing special. Breakfast in Restaurant was great. Would stay again.
