Fine one night stop

It was a fine 3 star hotel for a one night stay. Very few amenities, breakfast area small, but competent. Not enough off site parking. Area seems nicer than previous reviews would make you believe.

You can make anything LOOK pretty...

Hotel was in a bad part of town, sketchy people hanging out outside and in the hotel "bar" (which was a few seats and a bar), air conditioning in our room didn't work until minutes before we were ready to check out in the morning, and the deadbolt lock on the door didn't work. Staff could not speak fluent English. Gave us the impression it was a former storage unit!! Horrible. Also reserved room w/ queen size beds, were given full size.

Not a very nice place to stay

Arrived at the hotel to find it is located directly across the street from the projects. So, while it is somewhat close to downtown, it isn't in a very nice part of town. Hotel was oversold when we arrived and although it took them about 10 minutes to do so they eventually gave us the room we reserved. Staff was not very professional. Our room's bathroom was not very clean and had a urine smell. The bed was not very comfortable. We were also kept up most of the night by a multi room party on our floor. Won't be staying here again.

A good value all things considered.

My 11-day stay was in genera,l a good experience. I appreciated that the staff upgraded me into a king sized bed. The breakfast was very good. Although I found eggshells in the scrambled eggs several days. There were a choice of Belgian waffles, instant oatmeal, which I did eat daily with a bit of milk and peanut butter for extra energy that fueled my total of 1-1/2 hours daily walks to the continuing education classes which were located at Wisconsin Ave., and 3rd Street. Other carbohydrates choices were sliced whole wheat & white bread, cereals, bagels with cream cheese or butter and/or fruit jellies. Also, biscuits with country gravy and pork sausage links. Beverages that were offered where coffee, teas, OJ, apple juice and milk. And I appreciated the Light fruit yogurt. I initially was attracted to the fact that there was art work displayed through out the Days Inn. However, what I should have done was check out (somehow, the crime rate for this particular area. The reason I brought this up is because my cellphone was stolen at the nearby store. So beware. When this occurred, a helpful female receptionist gave me the information of the location where I believed my phone was stolen. I was grateful for her assistance on that matter. I worked out twice in the gym. The treadmill was adequate (e.g., the track was not free flowing but a bit jerky, and the fan made a clicking noise). But the recumbent bike was not working and the male staff worker acted as if that was news to him and he apologized and stated, "I'll have someone here to fix it." But more than a week later and the bike was not fixed. As for my room, it was very modern and very clean indeed. Although I asked for a non-smoking room, the room still smelled of cigarettes. On my last night, I was awaken by my inconsiderate neighbors whom were talking very loudly, at 2:43 am. And I was wearing earplugs too. I enjoyed Darius, a very nice and bright young man whom drove me on my first night to see where my continuing education classes where held and for a meal to go. In summary, I am gave you a detailed description of my experience while at the Days Inn. I enjoyed the accommodations, the breakfast, Darius and the housekeeping staff that I met. I did not enjoy the gym which was inadequate working conditions. In addition, I did not appreciate that the head male with shoulder length hair (i.e., the same man that acted as if the non-functioning recumbent bike was news to him) whom had to be reminded twice that I needed help sent to my room to move my luggage downstairs for my shuttle that arrived at noon. A night receptionist whom was a middle aged male, was very helpful during my stay. He helped me with my new mobile phone, which I appreciated too. the Bottom Line, well, that depends.I would recommend this location if you were traveling with another person. I would not recommend this location if you're female, traveling alone. Safe travels to you all.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Kavo-Apna Restaurant which is Indian Cuisine at it's best (i.e, in comparison to Little India in Artesia, California). This restaurant is located at 551 West Becher St. Milwaukee, WI (414) 672-1313. The female chef made me a special eggplant dish which was delicious. I also ordered the #10 the Bhindi Masala, which is "Okra cooked with fresh toamtoes, onions, and spices." This dish was yummy with the garlic naan and Basmati rice. This was enough for three meals! I highly recommend this family restaurant. P.S. Please be patient because it's worth the wait. Indian cooking requires a great deal of chopping of veggies :)

Milwaukee can do better family getaway 2014

When we walked in the room had an awful smell. The soda bed sheets had not been changed. Our toilet was stopped up and it took hours for someone to come plunge it. The staff did not go out their way to make our stay comfortable. Also, the business "center" was a joke and the printer was out of ink.

Days Inn

I believe the rating was too high and the description that it was "new" was not accurate. it is in a sketchy part of town, not very clean and other occupants were very loud. The price was good - but that is about all I can say.

Unsavory Person Hang-out

The facilities were nice enough and the staff appeared to do their job, but no more. There were unsavory persons hanging around in the lobby when I arrived and again when I left in the morning, even in the breakfast room. These persons were not customers that were staying at the hotel and they were not employees working at the hotel - they were just "there." They were unkempt and poorly dressed. The evening group was different than the morning group. Both times there were about 5 or 6 people. They made me very uncomfortable and I would have left if I had not already paid for my room.
