Charming, convenient and comfortable

If you go in understanding and appreciating the age of the hotel, you'll love it! The location can't get any better. You're walking distance to many of Milwaukee's attractions. If you're looking for sleek and high end, this isn't it. But it is really clean and comfortable.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Hit up the Irish pub across the street and try out the Guinness pulled BBQ chicken sandwich! To die for! Also, check out the market downtown. You could eat there for days!!

Party people woke us up every hour

We went to the Marquette Game at noon. Returning to the Hotel around 10:00PM. There was some kind of dance party at the hotel.Starting at 11:00 until 3:30am. People would get to our floor and talk and hang out in the hall. This was every hour until 3:30am No Manager was the at check out and the girl at the desk did not care. I will be waiting for my refund.

Certainly not 3-Star

This website clearly needs to review their rating system. No way is this a 3-star facility. Yes, we new it would be dated. However, that is no excuse for 1x4 pine boards nailed up holding the window A/C in place, paint peeling off around the window, nor the electrical outlet in above the sink with no cover and one of the two ground wire holes painted shut. The A/C was loud. There was only loud, louder and still..... The breakfast was OK. Nothing to write home about. When you are "purchasing" a three-star stay, you should be able to rely upon the travel vendor to provide that. I am disappointed to learn that is not the case with this website.

Great stay

It's been a few years since I've stayed at the Astor. It's not the most modern hotels, but that's one of the things I like about it. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent downtown location. The staff was very friendly. I look forward to staying again.

Summerfest Milwaukee

Lets just say there were too many bugs in this hotel room and they always ended up in the bed. Comfortable soft bed. Walk in shower. Free breakfast with yummy waffles. Shuttle bus. Hotel staff could not find the key to the office where they locked up our luggage we thought we were going to miss our only way home.

This hotel was conveniently located so we could park our car at the hotel and walk to SummerFest grounds. We even got in a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum. We will definitely stay here for SummerFest 2013.

More old than historic

We chose this hotel on an apartment hunting trip. We got a good rate and it had the perfect location with many of the great neighborhoods that we wanted to explore nearby. We were disappointed because the reviews seemed to paint this as a charming, historic hotel - but to us it seemed more old than historic. The room smelled musty, the furnishings were old. Constructions workers started outside of our room before 7am each day and late at night we heard guests in nearby rooms (we thought this may be becaue our trip overlapped with Summerfest)
