Great weekend getaway

We came up to Milwaukee for a concert and a quick weekend getaway. The Astor Hotel was perfect for our needs. It is on the historical places register, so don't expect it to be a Hilton or anything else you would be used to nowadays. The location is great, plenty of bars to walk to, and not far from anything. Perfect weekend!! Thanks Astor Hotel!

Great price

This hotel is on the registry of historic buildings and in many ways that is fascinating and great, and in some it could use a little refurbishing. But overall, the hotel was a great value with convenient on-site parking for only $7 a day. It is also conveniently located for just about anything you could really want to do on a weekend away (close to the museum, breweries, 3rd ward, etc).

Last minute travel

Check in was quick, friendly. Room was spotless, had a view which was suprising as it was an economy room. All dealings with staff very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect as I had no vehicle and was within walking distance to downtown. I would happily stay again and will recommend to any friends/family traveling to Milwaukee.

Stay-cation

I booked this hotel for my birthday and it was a great choice. The rooms were cheap but still had nice offerings like Aveda products in the rooms and a free breakfast. I appreciated the hotel's character and location. It was a quick cab ride to go out to the bars on Brady. I did not appreciate the old windows banging from the wind in the morning to wake me up. We had to put the TV guide in the crack to stabilize the window. It was also very warm in our room and we had no way to control the temperature other than opening a window.

The Hi Hat on Brady was great for beer and cocktails. The Garage is attached to the Hi Hat and was also a fun bar with a photobooth.

Location and Aveda Amenities!

Had a pleasant one night stay Presidents Day weekend. Had not been to the Astor since my Marquette U days for a dance. Doesn't appear to have changed much, but was well kept and clean in all public areas as well as in the room. Do question safety and security with the original doors with the inside/outside open for laundry, shoe shine. Also was very noisy, but could of course just be specific to the other guests on my floor.

disappointing

I like hotels with character. Though this place definitely has character, it also has leaky broken windows, slow shower drains, awkward tiny sinks, and lots of noise. We stayed in one of the rooms that had not been updated, so I can't speak for the renovated rooms.

Older room, no warning about mess in bathroom

Admittedly I snagged this hotel room, 352, for a steal under $32. I needed a cheap place to stay with wifi and it had that. The bed was comfortable and looked nice. There was a stain on the floor. The bathroom had buzzing lights. When I flushed the toilet it splashed directly upward messing up the floor, seat, the towels hanging above it, and unfortunately me too. I had no intention on showering there anyway, since the water was rusty, but I didn't think I would actually have to use the towels I brought along. Luckily I had friends in the city who let me use their shower. There was a dripping noise heard all night long and everything echoed. I know I got a cheap room but I didn't expect to get splashed by the toilet. If the staff would have warned me I could have avoided it. Even a warning sign would have been nice. The lady at the counter didn't even wish me a nice day or asked how my stay was. NEVER staying here again!!!

convinient for a brewer game

Staff extremely nice and helpful. Rooms are a little small but clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the bar where you can catch a shuttle to the game and eliminate driving after a couple too many of those $7.00 ballpark beers. Overall I would stay there again. Also affordable rates.

About a 6 block walk to catch a shuttle to Miller Park or about a 6 mile drive if you choose to take your own vehicle.
