Superb location in Madison
Location, a short walk to the state Capitol and state Street are two major advantages of this motel. It is also on the edge of the lake although our room did not overlook it and close to the university. The surrounding area was both safe for walking and interesting. My fiance arived by separate car and was welcome to park in the undergrpound parking garage at no charge.

Short walk from hotel
If you've never tried Five guys hamburger place you should check it out. The walls are plastered with positive reviews and I would definitely return. I've actually experienced them in Ann Arbor MI and Albany NY where thet were just as good.

A few updates, and this place would be 5 star
All they need to do is get new (preferably lo-flow) toilets, flat screen tv's, and more modern bedspreads, and this place would live up to 21st c. 5 star standards. It's just a little stuck in the 1980s. But the services, location, and cleanliness are great! Beautiful view, too!

Upgrade was Fantastic
We had booked a Junior King suite but were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite with a spacious living area, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette overlooking the Lake without asking and at no additional cost. We are planning to book again in August for my niece's wedding. We had breakfast in the hotel and the restaurant was very nice and the food fantastic. I hope they are able to work it out with the city to renovate the hotel from its 80's style but it is still very nice, very convenient and very affordable!

Happy Times
Loved the classic architecture... the helpful staff... and the elevator was charming. The only thing that I was displeased about was the internet connection.. they said hi speed, and we had none in the room. But overall, fab!!!
