Great sized suite
We thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday night at The Edgewater. Our suite was huge and had a fantastic view of the lake. We were easy walking distance to State Street and the capital where there were great restaurants. The sole drawback was that our room was right next to a frat that had the bass blasting until 2 AM. Luckily, we were out late that evening so it didn't really keep us up but if I was looking for a relaxing evening in the hotel I probably would have been upset by all that noise.

Cooper's was a great restaurant overlooking the capital. Very fresh, farm to table food that was reasonably priced.

Everything was fantastic!...but it came with a price
I stayed there for 2 nights and it was over 300 dollars. It was a little to pricey for me, especially since I didn't really use most of the amenities, but overall, it was fantastic. If the price dropped, I would more than likely stay there again.

Expected More
Based on the hotels website, we were expecting mroe than what we got. There wasn't a lot as far as amenities go (no breakfast, or hot tub/pool). The decore and general condition of the rooms seemed old. There was an event going on in one of the conference room the Saturday we were there and the attendees took up all of the underground parking forcing us to park outside the hotel where there technically should have been no parking.

Superb location in Madison
Location, a short walk to the state Capitol and state Street are two major advantages of this motel. It is also on the edge of the lake although our room did not overlook it and close to the university. The surrounding area was both safe for walking and interesting. My fiance arived by separate car and was welcome to park in the undergrpound parking garage at no charge.

If you've never tried Five guys hamburger place you should check it out. The walls are plastered with positive reviews and I would definitely return. I've actually experienced them in Ann Arbor MI and Albany NY where thet were just as good.

A few updates, and this place would be 5 star
All they need to do is get new (preferably lo-flow) toilets, flat screen tv's, and more modern bedspreads, and this place would live up to 21st c. 5 star standards. It's just a little stuck in the 1980s. But the services, location, and cleanliness are great! Beautiful view, too!

Upgrade was Fantastic
We had booked a Junior King suite but were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite with a spacious living area, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette overlooking the Lake without asking and at no additional cost. We are planning to book again in August for my niece's wedding. We had breakfast in the hotel and the restaurant was very nice and the food fantastic. I hope they are able to work it out with the city to renovate the hotel from its 80's style but it is still very nice, very convenient and very affordable!
