Pay by the hour?
I was kinda worried when I watched the desk clerk punch the phone to get it to work... That should have been were I turned and left. Instead I waited 8 min before he stopped answering phones to check me in. the room was the size of a closet and wouldnt have shocked me to see bugs. I would never stay here again.

Good Value
The Microtel Inn is incredibly close to the Capitol building in Madison and close to shops and restaurants. At the time I stayed they were still renovating the hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Towels were a bit scratchy and small but did the job. The continental breakfast was so-so, but handy if you needed something quick. It was easy the next day to find my way into Madison to get to my meetings. I would stay again.

Short walk from hotel
Cracker Barrel is next door and they have a good low carb selection on their menu so I was able to maintain my diet. The area between the hotel and restaurant was well lit.

Great Hotel, Great Price, Overall Great Experience
Check in was extremely easy, room was perfect for my girlfriend and I. Bed was extremely comfy. Clean room. Only complaint was the entry door nearest my room wasn't working but i'm sure that will be fixed.

Loudest hotel ever
Check in was super easy and the front desk attendant was very nice. Our room was on the first floor and it was so LOUD. For some reason anytime someone in the hotel used any type of plumbing the walls rattled and you could hear everything. The beds were really hard and the room looked like it hadn't been redecorated since the 70's with a mirrored wall, flourescent lighting and the oldest tv I have ever seen. This place would have been fine for just one night but we were stuck there for 4 and by the end of it I was almost in tears I was so uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was kind of a joke!!! A couple muffins and 2 types of cereal. Wish I would have stayed at the comfort inn at least they have waffles.

Good area
This is in a good part of town. Breakfast was just breads but good coffee.

Disappointing Internet, but good TV news
The good thing about this hotel is that the cable news channels included MSNBC, which many hotels don't offer. But the internet service was awful. I could have done better with dial-up. Only by running my computer all the time, 24/7, could it keep up with downloading my email.

The hotel is next to a shopping center, and there are many good restaurants nearby. The front desk offers a sheet with a table of nearby restaurants with their address, phone number, etc.

Overnight stay at Microtel Inn & Suites
It was a very good room, and a very good value. There was nothing it did lack. Easy in, easy out, tons of parking, and a nice location. A few miles from downtown, but a few miles from the hoo hahh that goes with the downtown, as well. Ate at Brothers Three which I would recommend.
