Decent place to stay, good service

Staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating, which is a real plus. Facility is a bit worn, could use a bit of maintenance & paint, but I wouldn't want to to see it be totally remodeled. Love the '60s decor and the very large old-school swimming pool. Did not get to take advantage of the breakfast so I can't report on that. We would stay again. Beds were comfortable enough; bedding is flimsy but rooms are comfortably warm. They provided a crib for our toddler but it was pretty ancient so we decided not to use it. Convenient to downtown LaX - a short drive - as well as airport. Fun to stay on an island :)

Good value

I saw some negative reviews but took a chance due to the number of full places on a convention visit. The chance paid off! They have been doing a lot of updating and the place seemed newer than it is. The staff was excellent and the place exceeded my expectations. I used to travel all the time for work and know when I receive a good value. I would stay there again.

People's cooperative has a great selection of organic food and a nice deli for a grocery store.

Not a nice place

We stayed here after visiting cranfest. This was the last place available and it was not worth the price we paid. The hotel is very very old. There was mold growing in the bathroom. If you have allergies, you will be miserable.

Not worth it

This was a last minute booking; it was the only hotel left that had vacancy that was closest to La Crosse on OctoberFest weekend. We booked it 4 days before we left. It was a highly overpriced dive.

Skip this Location!

If you are looking for a place to stay in La Crosse, WI...cross this one off your list! The hotel is in a bad location, and the hotel is pretty run down. The TV in our room didn't work, and the room was dusty. The hotel maids were VERY loud in the hall at 7am cleaning, so it was not a quiet stay.

Good value for the money

The pool and hot tub was terrific. The check in process was easy and convenient. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

Great spot for an overnight get away

We arrived via Amtrak. They offered a taxi ride to the hotel at their expense. The pool was great and the attached restaurant offered very good food. The hotel offered discounts on the food, also a free drink or dessert.

A real surprise!!!!

This was a real surprise!!! When we came into LaCrosse, we saw the hotel and from the outside, it didn't look very good!!! (Peeling paint, unkept yard, etc. We were pleasantly surprised when we got inside. The entry was open and well decorated with nice furniture and chandeliers. The rooms were spacious with very comfortable queen-sized beds. The bathroom was large and had plenty of towels and other amenities. The Continental Breakfast was huge with lots of offerings. It was a pay breakfast but with the coupons, it ended up being $25 for 6 people and we ate our fill. It was just excellent. The only problem was there was a Bass Fishing competition going on so it hinder the amount of parking since there were lots of boats in the parking lot and the owners like to drink a lot of beer so were a little noisy!
