Microtel Inn and Suites Appleton

This is not a luxury hotel, but it is satisfactory for a short stay for business.

There were little curly hairs on my pillow so I asked the front desk associate to change my room and she did but there was even more hair all over the bathroom floor and the heat didn't work right do my children and I like to have froze. I couldn't believe they were still in buisness. I will never stay there again!!!!!!

First of all, the woman at the check-in desk was rude [...]. This was the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in and I would not wish this unfortunate stay on anyone. We had expected, based [...] on the hotel's website description, that there would be BOTH a refrigerator and a microwave, so we took a little time out of our day to buy drinks, microwveable food, and food that has to be kept in the fridge. Well, there was neither one of those things in the room. We had to make continuous trips down to the first floor, because that was the ONLY ice machine in the entire hotel. This task was tedious and ridiculous. The continental breakfast, if that's what you want to call it, was the most disgusting and most disappointing "breakfast" that I have ever had. The only semi-good thing about it was the waffles, but really..who can go wrong with waffles that you have to make yourself? The room itself, was..okay. It was small, but spacious enough for two people and I expected it to be small based on the small price that I had paid. However, the cleanliness was outrageous. The toilet in the bathroom had a used band-aid stuck to it..ew! And the floor still had dirt and stuff on it from the last person that stayed there. The location of the hotel is convenient..one of the only perks. The mall is in walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants in the area where the hotel is. This trip cannot even stand up to previous trips I have taken and I will never stay in this hotel again.

On July 10, 2011 I reserved an "Accessible 1 Queen Bed Non Smoking Suite With Sofabed, Microwave,Fridge" for my granddaughter and her boyfriend for July 14th and 15th at the Microtel Inn in Appleton, WI using [...]. I was required to put the full cost on my credit card right away to guarantee the reservation. Shortly before noon, as my granddaughter was on her way to a concert, she tried to check into her room and was told by the front desk that all the rooms were full and they couldn't give her a room. At about 11 o'clock that evening, when she returned from the concert, she was given a regular room with double beds and no microwave or fridge. The front desk told her that when you book rooms through a third party, [...], that the hotel could be overbooked by 20 percent. At that time she was assured by the front desk that they would locate a microwave and fridge for her and they would move her to the proper room the next day. Neither of these things ever happened. (No microwave, no fridge, no new room.) Friday morning when my granddaughter called me about her problem, I immediately called [...]. After a half hour or more on the phone, I was told that, since the room had been used, the most that [...]could do was issue a $30 voucher and the hotel had told them they were moving the granddaughter to the proper room. (I asked for a refund for the first night.) She never got the new room, and I haven't seen the voucher.The reason that we reserved this particular room was it came with a microwave and fridge. My granddaughter prepared a bunch of food ahead of time so they could warm the food in the microwave and eat in their room. (They were traveling on a tight budget.) Without the microwave or fridge, the food was never eaten and had to be thrown out. And the granddaughter and her boyfriend had to spend money they really couldn't afford to eat in restaurants.Since the fault for all the problems and added expense lays with Microtel Inn in Appleton, I had a guaranteed reservation paid in advance, I feel I am due a complete refund.

The hotel is centrally located in the business/ shopping district. The room was clean and comfortable. Some people have called it small but it is there to sleep in not dance. Continental breakfast was enjoyable.

The hotel served its purpose of providing somewhere clean to sleep. But, the breakfast fell short.

Excellent Service and very good hotel

We appreciated the friendly service at an affordable price. Our room was clean and spacious. The carpet wasn't perfect, but we were not expecting a 5* at the price we paid. Thanks Microtel.... we will be back!

My husband and I stayed at Microtel for the first time this past weekend while visiting friends. The room is small (it IS called Microtel, after all) but it is perfect for short stays. It's just what you need - a bathroom and a bed. My only complaints are that the noise from the next room was quite noticeable, and the hot tub had way too much chlorine. Overall though, it is good, clean, and great for short stays or trips where you are out and about more than in the room. The Fox Valley Mall is right next door, about a two minute walk, so it's a good place to stay if that is what you are in town for.

I was pleased that there were no bed bugs! The accomodations were clean and comfortable. However, check in time is 3 pm and our room was not ready. I had just driven 5 hours and hoped to rest. The front desk clerk said she had not been able to speak with the maids to find out when it would be ready. She appeared to be quite annoyed so I assume there was a staffing issue. I would go back assuming this, hopefully, was an isolated problem. Breakfast was so, so. The waffle iron was not heating properly. Coffee was horrible.
