Howard Johnson Inn Appleton

Great value... no bells and whistles, just a nice, decent, clean motel.

We had two people staying in the room and two people meeting us in Appleton from Nearby. We were not allowed to check in until exactly 3:00 despite the fact they informed us there were rooms available. The only way to get in the hotel is through the front door.. the side door card readers are disabled. Each time you go in they want to know your room number and how many people are going there to make sure you only have the number of people you said were sleeping there and also to abid by the policy of no guests after 7:30pm. Are you kidding?! We don't go to dinner until well after that! We had a younger woman smoking outside a side door late at night and she propped it open. they closed it while she was standing right there and told her to walk all the way around the building by herself to get back in cause they cant prop doors open even though it was propped open with a door stopper. They did not give us any hotel policy information or reciept at check in or out. The staff was very rude and inquisitive to everything we were doing. There was nothing out for breakfast. I would NEVER NEVER recommend this place to anyone or stay here again. If they find out you have someone else stay there overnight and did not inform them in advance...even if its a last minute change you will be charged $50 per person they think stayed there. They tried to charge us by saying we saw everything on the cameras because we were watching you. Then they came outside with us to see how many people got into our car upon check out

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stepped foot in!! First off I only live about 45 minutes from the hotel it was supposed to be a little relaxing night away for my girlfriend and I and it turned out to be the exact opposite!! We walked in and not a single person on there staff can speak clear English. So we dropped our stuff in our room and went to eat and when we came back and pulled the sheets back on the bed there were stains on them. So we got up to go by the phone to call and ask for clean sheets and there were ants crawling all over the table so we asked for a totally new room. They switched our room and we walked into the new room and everything seemed good to go until we went into the bathroom and there was pee in the toilet!!! We complained and all the "manager" said was well just flush it. Horrible experience and recommend you stay far away!!!!

This hotel had the worse staff. My husband was yelled at by the front desk staff when he said that he did not understand why they wanted to change him $10 additional dollar at check-in. [...] This interaction put my husband in a bad mood for the rest of the evening. Also, the pool opened at 10am in the morning and then check-out was 11am. The pool was the only reason we stayed there with our child and we got to use it for 20 minutes.

Disappointed. After a long day, I was either looking forward to some late night or early morning hot tub time. They provided neither and, when asked to make an exception by myself and at least one other guest, they repeatedly promised to look into it and gave specific times they'd let me know of the outcome. They did nothing to follow through on any of that. They simply kept pushing things back until it was far too late to be of any use.

I was greeted by a very unfreindly Desk Clerk. Then I was told I was being charged an extra $5 for my son. I read the reviews on this hotel and it was 1.6 which is not good. The hall ways were very hot, no refrigerator in the room, 2 towels in a room with 2 double beds. The hot tub temprature was luke warm at best. The towels were not soft at all, they wer very old towels and were very uncomfortable. I could go on, however...

Very nice staff and the rooms were very clean. The lobby however was FREEZING cold! The pool is very small and there is no breakfast.I would not stay here again, there are alot nicer places for the same price in the area.

It was cheap, cheap, cheap. Almost the most dismal place I have ever seen. I wish I would have paid a couple extra buck for a hotel that wasn't utterly depressing.

Hotel was ok for money. But while I arrived earliar than check in time, i was made to wait 4 hours until 3:00 to check in. Restaurant next door has good food.Its a favoritw among locals.

visited with family. Motel did not allow granchildren to use pool while they visited us in motel--every other motel has allowed access to pool
